I know it's still 2 1/2 years away, but what the heck, I want to start planning NOW because it's going to end up being a very special (and very $$!!) trip! LOL

As many of you may know, I LOVE the Polynesian resort (as does my DH) and we've stayed a few times in the Hawaii concierge building and have had SPECTACULAR views of the Seven Seas Lagoon and Cinderella Castle, directly from our room. THE BEST view on all of WDW property, in my humble opinion! LOL Also, we simply love the feeling and ambiance of that resort, and we enjoy the amenities that the concierge building and lounge offer us.

Anyway... I'm seriously considering trying the Royal Palm Club at the Grand Floridian for our 10th Anniversary trip, which will be early July 2010.

The reasons that I'm considering RPC @ GF instead of LVC @ Polynesian is because we have stayed at the GF before in a lagoon view room in Boca Chica in 2001. We really enjoyed the resort, and this was even before they built the new pool. And I thought it might be nice to try something different for this trip. I'm hoping that it will have a "special" feel to it. :scratchin

Also, I KNOW that I'll never choose GF over the Polynesian for a regular trip to WDW because we love the Polynesian so much, so I thought this would be a great opportunity and reason to try something different, since we've never stayed in the main building at the GF before.

Can those of you who've stayed at the Royal Palm Club post here and give me your opinions and experiences please?? I love the DIS and I value the opinions of everyone here, although in the end I do make up my own mind. LOL I just like having all of the facts, both good and bad, so I can make an informed decision. I realize that unlike concierge (club level) at the Polynesian, you can't book a specific view at the Royal Palm Club. So don't factor in the view, since I already realize that the view won't be as awesome as the views we're used to at the Polynsian. :cool2:

I already know what the Hawaii concierge building is like (in fact, we'll be back there again in May!!), and what's like to be on the monorail and have boat access to the MK, so I'm mainly looking for opinions on the RPC itself, and if you think it's special enough for a 10th anniversary trip.

I'm going to post a poll in this thread, so people can vote!

Thanks in advance!! :)

It is special enough for your anniversary trip!!:goodvibes We are going for our 20th anniversary in Sept 08. :wizard:

Personally I am WAY way way more fond of the GF and RPC than Poly so I can't comment fairly. ;) Our Poly LVC stays have left something to be desired.

We stay RPC a lot and the reason we keep returning is the wonderful CM staff and how they make us feel so welcome. I woudn't think of staying anywhere else in WDW for a special stay because I KNOW how things will turn out. No disappointing surprises... I enjoy staying somewhere I know we will be happy and the CMs are the best. :thumbsup2

FWIW,the honeymoon rooms on the second floor all have beautiful castle views and you can book these and guarantee a king bed, too. The rooms have all been redone very recently and are lovely.

IMO the GF has a more classy, quiet & upscale feel to it than the Poly.

I know you have had happy stays at the Poly but I understand how you'd maybe want to try something different so it wouldn't be the same old same old for your special stay, but for me, my usual RPC is terrific and can't be topped by any other WDW resort.

Happy planning,

Lives4Disney :)

My vote was for Try the RPC at the Grand Floridian! As nice as a Lagoon View in the Hawaii Longhouse is and I can now say that based on my own stay there, since this would be an Anniversary trip I would try the Royal Palm Club.

Here is something else to keep in mind. If you do decide to go with Royal Palm make sure you are comftorable with it. Last month during my families stay at the Polynesian after visiting the Contemporary a few times and seeing it from our room, I realized that I missed staying there on the Atrium Club Level. While I did enjoy the Polynesian and do not regret staying there, all it took for me was always seeing the Contemporary and visiting there as a guest to realize I missed staying there, so that is why we switched our August 2008 reservations from Sugar Loaf to the Atrium Club. Since you always stay LVC at the Polynesian I hope you don't go threw the same thing I did.

I vote for RPC. It is my happy place! I'll be there for my 40th (in 2 yrs) :rolleyes1 We just did Poly LVC in 6/07. It was great and CMs were terrific. But it just wasn't the same for me. I can understand why it is the fav. for some. Our views were spectacular.
Either way, have a great anniversary:yay:

Hi Terry, I voted a split stay because that's exactly what my Husband and I are doing in May!!! :goodvibes We are staying 3 days Poly LVC then moving over to GF RPC for the last 6 days. :cloud9: I must preface this by saying I have not stayed concierge at WDW before (I have at other hotels) so this will be a new, but I'm sure wonderful, experience for us. It seems like a win-win situation :thumbsup2 I can't wait!

Maybe I can report back after and let you know how it went!

We vote for the Grand Floridian RPC. The GF is just so elegant and quiet and the RPC staff is wonderful and go out of their way to assist in whatever you require or request. We always stay in a regular room 4404 or 4403 as there are only 3 of us and have a view of the marina/castle. Unfortunately, we couldn't get the RPC:sad2: and we are staying in the SL building in April celebrating our 21st anniversary. It's not until May but we had to schedule it a bit earlier do to DS school vacation. Just as long as we are at the GF, we don't care. We have to book a bit earlier next time.
