Our first day we plan to maybe do AK until close at 9:30. If we still have energy because it's our first day, should we head for DS or BW? I haven't experienced BW at all and haven't been to DD since the change from DTD.

Not looking for anything in particular as far as entertainment or food. Open for any ideas. Maybe even a great resort bar.

Thoughts?

Is your first day travel day? If so, I would head to my resort for a relatively early night to get rested and be ready to hit the road running for the rest of our vacation

Whew, after your first day? You have more energy than me!

Honestly, this is a weird recommendation but we LOVE the bar at AKL Jambo. You'll be close and it's easy to access if you're driving. It's just got a great vibe and might be a nice relaxing way to round your AK day out.

If that doesn't sound like your cuppa, I'd do BW. There's less to do than DS. You'll want more time at DS than an evening after travelling and a park, IMO!

What hotel are you staying at? Boardwalk is pretty slow on weeknights. They have a dueling piano bar that's pretty fun but I don't know if I would make a special trip there for it.

On our arrival nights we usually just hang out at the hotel either in the room or at the resort bar.

I would plan on heading to a resort bar or Disney Springs. The outdoor entertainment is fun and I have enjoyed getting a drink at one of the bars. We just strolled around and poked our head into a few until we found a vibe we liked.DS has really taken in up a few notches. With all of that being said, I tend to be tired on travel day and get a little punchy(I get the giggles). I like to head back to the resort and have a nightcap there so I can make a quick getaway as soon as the giggles arrive. Have a great trip!

I should have mentioned we are super limited on time. Really there for a wedding that weekend. :) We won't be getting to parks until 5pm. That's why we will probably have Disney energy. LOL

When we went in 2012 we drove all night and didn't plan to do a park the first day. But had too much Disney energy. Added a day to our tickets.

This time I'm flying. It will be an early morning. But I'm west coast so 9 pm for me will be 6pm.

Thanks for the input.

Well, if that's the case, then I vote for the new DS!!

If you have a lot of energy, head to DS. It's close to AK and it will be hopping still at 10 pm. Lots of great restaurants and bars open.

If you have less energy and would like something a little more low-key, I second the AKL idea. It's a beautiful resort and the bar is lovely.

Other ideas to have in your back pocket - Boardwalk. The Boardwalk entertainment will probably be over by then, but AbracadaBAR is pretty cool and JellyRoll's and Atlantic Dance Hall should be open. The lounge at bluezoo is pretty cool, too, and they have really good food.

Trader Sam's - best themed bar on property, IMHO. Great atmosphere, drinks, antics and special effects. If you are looking for a "don't-miss" type of experience, I would go here!

We aren't on property this time. :( Wyndham Disney Springs. Which I didn't really make the connection. Duh. We could walk back from DS. Might be the deciding factor.

I would go for DS. There are so many good bars and restaurants( with bars inside them) to choose from. Many have outside seating on the water too. Hangar bar doesn't take reservations so the crowd there varies but has great themeing and outside seating. Moromito Asia has upper level outside seating which seems cool( although I haven't been there so I can not tell you the mood there). Have a great time!

I never take it easy on my first day either....its the start of my vacay! Why would I? :)

OP, i agree with the others about going to disney springs. They have much more to offer, especially at that time.

Wyndam Disney Springs is kind of on-property. It is on hotel row. You can walk to Disney Springs from your hotel. So that would be my choice. Going to the Boardwalk would require some type of motorized transport.

I have to say that the couple of times that I have been to the Boardwalk, it has been dead. Like really, really dead.

So I would say, Disney Springs all the way. It doesn't matter what night of the week, there will always be people there.

You could get moonshine and deviled eggs at Homecoming...do this wedding weekend hillbilly style!!!
(Actually, I AM intrigued by all the reports about the food there...)
Have fun!!!
