We refinanced this year to a 10 year loan with US Bank. We haven't received our house statement yet showing the interest we paid. So I called them and told them we haven't gotten it yet. They told me that they don't mail them out anymore unless you request one. So of course I requested one and she told me the interest amount over the phone so I could start on the taxes. My question is, I thought they had to send these to you, I thought it was the law? They don't have to do this? Anyone know anything about this?

They dont have too send you a 1099, and most mortgage companies wont anymore unless you ask them. I just call them, get the number over the phone and use that. It usually shows up on your monthly statement as well (if they still send you one of those).

Thank you, I did request one today, I'm glad I called them. I didn't know this! :D
