101 Degrees…So sorry for those of you there…

Every time we go in October we seem to get 100 plus heat waves and the parks are packed. April is usually much better weather for us Kiwis! Shocked to hear it was so hot, but hopefully it's short lived!

It’s not unusual for September and October to be the hottest months of the year in Southern California, thanks to the Santa Ana winds.

I was there this Friday for Food and Wine with my bf and also to attend the Skywalker Wine Reception at Carthay Circle.

We were in DCA from about 10am to 1pm and went NOOOOPE, got back to our hotel and crashed. Woke up to head to the park to order a few drinks at Hollywood Lounge first then for the wine reception at Carthay which was amazing. We rode one ride because it was too hot lol,and had several yummy dishes ! I'm back this weekend so hope it's better !

It's already over. LOL. We were at the parks yesterday in shorts and tees and it was cloudy, breezy, and around 68. I was kicking myself for not having brought hoodies. I was cold until the sun FINALLY came out around 3pm.

Our spring weather is always crazy!

It can get hot, but 100 in CA is much better then 85 in FL. Plus, when the sun goes down in CA the temp goes down with it. A 100 day can be a 75 degree night. In FL a 90 degree day is a 92 degree night. Just another reason to love DLR.

Bump.

Going to be scorching next weekend (May 13 - May 15). Looking like my typical 10 day forecast watch prior to our trip. Normal to warm to hot to hotter than hades. Evidently the weather gods are hell bent on my family not enjoying Disneyland in anything but the 90s.

So pack those solar umbrellas, personal fans and freeze some waters.

Oh boy, we arrive on the 15th. Now rethinking my plane outfit of pants 😂 and we were going to go to the pool first thing, bet it'll be busy!!

You know, one thing about So Cal weather is that it can be really changeable. I don't trust any forecast more than 3 days out. Those mid-90s could still end up being mid/upper 80s.

We once packed rain gear because the prediction was heavy rain on the Thur and Fri of our week's stay. It was clear and sunny that whole week.

Unfortunately, they are usually right about heat waves. That's a lot easier to predict than precipitation here. I NEVER trust a rain forecast. I ALWAYS trust a heat wave forecast.

Stinks, because we have plans to go next weekend. One of my sons hates excessive heat.

Although, I was also at the parks 2 weekends ago when it was supposed to be in the 90s, and it was, but it didn't FEEL too bad. The sun isn't quite at full summer strength yet. I never even broke out my hat.
