My daughter will be 10 when we return to WDW in 08, however she is only 48 inches tall and 43 pounds. In other words, she doesn't eat a whole lot and prefers "kid friendly" foods. With that said, can she order the kid's food at Liberty Tree Tavern and/or The Land Grill? I figure she can eat off the kids menu at restaurants like Le Cellier and Mama Melrose's because its not family style. I also bet she would be charged adult prices at all the buffets.

Any experienced advice or information you can give is greatly appreciated!! I just can't pay adult prices when all she's going to eat is a handful of chicken nuggets and a scoop of mac-n-cheese.

I just got back with an elderly lady who ate frequently off of the children's menus. There was never a discussion. She just ordered and they were very nice in accepting the order. I would ask for a children's menu at every restaurant and say "child". It is ridiculous to expect a 10 year old to order from an expensive, too large, adult menu.

We just got back from Disney today. My DD is 12, and she ordered from the child's menu at every restaurant we ate at, with no problem (California Grill, Narcooses, Jiko, Plaza Restaurant, etc). She is also a very light, yet picky eater! We don't do many of the buffets, because she would be charged as an adult, and she too would only eat a few chicken nuggets and maybe some mac n cheese.

On the buffets and family style restaurants, she will be charged the adult price, but she can order/eat anything off the child's menu (or child section of the buffet).

We've done a few (Hoop de doo & Ohanas most recently), and had to pay adult price for her.

Have a great trip!

We didn't have any problem ordering off the kids' menu for my ds when he was 10yo, except at the Plaza where we had a waitress who insisted that he had to order off the adult menu. I think she was trying to up her tip. At that point we decided that dh and I would "share" a sandwich and we ordered a kids' meal for our then 1yo who was usually able to share with her 5yo sister. When the food came we played musical plates and we were all happy.

Buffets and other all you care to eat places will be a full adult charge, but except for that one instance we've had no problems at all with ds ordering off the kids' menu. Of course, now he's 12yo and eats about half a horse a day...so its the adult menu for him!

I feel for you, my Dneice and Dnephew (who are 8 and 6) eat like birds and any meal cost is usually basically wasted on them. Now my DS's on the other hand .. DS 8 is 55 inches tall and 110 pounds. He can and will eat his fill at any buffet. DS 6 is 48 inches tall and 70 pounds. He more than definitely holds his own! I have always found the buffets, although they can be expensive, to be the better buy in terms of ease and choice. Although kids may or may not eat their $ value, they get to eat exactly what they want, and with mine that has always "one" bite of this and "one" bite of that. And with the food not touching mind you! (We use lots of plates! :goodvibes ) Everyone is happy, everyone is relaxed, and if it's a character buffet, there's fun going on too. It's always been a win-win for us without the worry about ordering off which menu for which kid!

On fixed price menus (such as the two you mentioned, LTT and The Garden Grill) children 10 and over are charged as adults regardless of how much or how little they eat. Character meals and buffets have fixed price menus, as well as dinner shows.

At restaurants with regular menus, ask nicely if your dd can order from the kid's menu and usually they will let you do that.

We have DDP for the next two trips and it kills me that I'm paying adult prices for dd (10) who will definitely be eating mostly macaroni and cheese and chicken nuggets! I know the buffets we'll be using her ts credits but I'm hoping that in regualar sit down restuarants (Coral Reef, R&C etc.) that she'll be able to order off the kids menu and then I can save her ts for other meals.
