10 year old boy, which character breakfast?

He will be almost 11 years old. He has been to Disney many times, but we haven't done many character meals--I think the only one he has done is Garden Grill.

We will be staying at Shades of Green, and our trip is mostly focused on doing the 10k at the Star Wars Dark side race weekend. This would be for breakfast AFTER the race, so we are planning to reserve around 9 am or later. Also, we are not planning to go to a park on this day, so it needs to be at one of the resorts. As far as transportation, we could walk to the Polynesian and then take the monorail to one of the monorail resorts--or if we do Cape May we would take a cab, rather than try to spend a lot of time with Disney transportation.

His favorite charcter is Chip...so the Chef Mickey's seems like the logical choice...but I've heard it is just chaotic. How bad is it, really? This would be on a Saturday morning in late April (22.) How is the food?

I went ahead and booked Cape May for now--but the other 3 (Chef Mickey's, Ohana, and 1900 Park Faire) are so much more convenient for location, and all 3 have availability at times that will work for us--so I'm wondering if I should switch.

Thanks for any insight!

So, Chef Mickey's has Pluto, Goofy, Donald, Minnie, and Mickey, but no Chip. As far as I know, GG is the only place to meet the dynamic duo.

With an older boy, I would suggest Ohana. Stitch was the only character our DS, 10 at the time, and his cousin who was 12 would take a picture with all week. We went to a number of character meals (there were a couple of little ones in our group), but this was the favorite for the older kids. Mickey, Pluto, and Lilo are there too.

Ohana has the least food variety of any of your options. It is pretty basic. After a 10k I would rather a buffet.

I would rather 1900PF or Cape May over Chef Mickey. I do not think much of CM.

Hmm...another website I saw said they were at Chef Mickey's--so good to know that isn't the case! Thanks! :) No reason to look at Chef Mickey's now!

Thanks! I'm thinking I will just keep Cape May then...I think he will prefer those characters over the ones at 1900 PF

Thank you! Ohana is definitely the most convenient for us, since we are staying at SOG. We are doing a dinner at Ohana on another day of our trip, but I know it is different food and the dinner isn't character...
I will keep Cape May for now but keep Ohana in mind.

Thanks again, everyone! :)

If you're at SOG, I'd definitely recommend 1900PF. The characters are very fun, and the food is varied and tasty (IMHO). Your little guy would probably enjoy the Mad Hatter, though he is outside at the exit as you leave, not circulating.

I won't lie: My son loves Stitch at Ohana. But I figure it has to be balanced with food quantity/variety after a race.

I would base it on the characters he likes. Our DS10 (almost 11) is probably not the norm, but he loves Mary Poppins, Pooh, and Tigger. So, we always do 1900 Park Fare.

My DS is 11. The only character dining he wants to do this year is 'Ohana because of Stitch. He had no interest in any other character.

Chip is at Mickey's backyard BBQ. He's also at the free campfire singalong at FW.

Since Chip is at the Backyard BBQ, I went ahead and made a dinner reservation for that. I booked category 1 and it says that with cat. 1 you can arrive early and have some character interaction.
I'll probably still keep the 1900 PF reservation too-- It sounds like the food is most appealing there, compared to other resort character meals, and the chance to see the Mad Hatter is fun (I know that characters aren't guaranteed!)
My 16 year old has decided to join us too so I have to make sure I can change the reservation to 3-but we can be pretty flexible about time and stuff so I'm not too worried :)

Thank you all for the advice!

My kids' (10, 12, 15) favorite character meal is chef mickeys. No chip though.

It is so much fun! We never miss it!

By the way, the Mad Hatter is only at breakfast at 1900 Park Fare. I think dinner is Cinderella, the prince, and the step-sisters.

If it were me, I'd do Ohana so I could shower, pop over to eat, and then pop back to the room for a NAP!! Then you'd still have half a day to go play golf or hit DS or something. But race days are very early days and we always want a nap after.

Chip is at the restaurant at the Swan, I forget what the name is. I went there for dinner and it had Chip and Dale Pluto and Goofy. Was a buffet and I liked it.
