10 months to go and 60 pounds to loose.Update 1/2/11 Page 38

Happy Saturday! Well, not so happy for me!!:sad2: This job searching stuff is for the birds!! One minute I am on this high, “they asked for my references!!” and then the next I am crushed when they call to say I was runner up but didn’t get the job. :sad1: I have never in my life tried for a job this hard. Always if I wanted a job I would send my resume and then get it. So this is awful that I send my resume out to 5-10 places a day, hear back from maybe one or two, finally get an interview and then after two hopeful weeks get the crushing news that I am not the one. Now it is back to square 1 again. I am just so darn frustrated. And of course being the type of person I am that eats when I am stressed, the weight is just all coming back. I am going to have to title my next Trip Report, “How I went from losing 60 pounds in ten months, to gaining 60 instead!” LOL :rotfl2:

Ok, enough of me being negative Nancy, onto something a little more magical, and why you are all here reading!!

My Kids Top 25 List – Number 10!

FAVORITE RIDES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The kids all agree that one of their MOST FAVORITE things about going to Disney is the rides. I have to agree that what really sets Disney apart from any other theme park is the way they have incorporated characters, music, a story, and magic into all of their rides. When asked what their favorite rides were, I got shouted at for about 5 minutes with every ride they could think of in Disney. It was really hard for them to pick their top favorites, but we have narrowed it down the best we could.

Magic Kingdom:
IMG_3738.jpg
Astro Orbiter - The family loves this one! I don't know why, but we do!!
astro.jpg

Goofy’s Barnstormer (If toontown is closed- does this mean the boys will not be able to go on this in January!? They will be crushed!!)

Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin - Kids both LOVE this one so much. We have to do it multiple times on each trip. One year during PM EMH, Myles rode this 4 times in a row!

Dumbo - of course, this is a must do. We usually do this first and get it out of the way because of the line, but this year we are starting our trip out in Tomorrowland and plan to hit Dumbo during PM EMH. Sometimes the characters ride it during the EMH so that would be pretty awesome!
IMG_3767.jpg

Haunted Mansion (Owen’s favorite – Myles will be trying this for the first time this trip)

It’s a Small World

Mickey’s Philharmagic

Monsters Inc. Laugh Floor

Peter Pan - The family FAVORITE! We all LOVE this one. It is our last ride of every trip!

Pirates of the Caribbean (Another favorite of Owen’s – Myles will be trying this for the first time this trip)

Epcot:
IMG_3917.jpg
The Seas with Nemo and Friends - Most favorite at Epcot!

Grand Tour Fiesta

Test track (Myles favorite- Owen really wants to be 40 inches this year)

Mission Space (Myles favorite- Owen really wants to be 40 inches this year)

Kim Possible Missions – they LOVE this and want to say they did every mission. We have done Germany, Norway, and United Kingdom.

Journey into Imagination (Figment!)

Boneyard

Finding Nemo- the musical

Tricera Top Spin - The kids love this whole area!
IMG_4231.jpg

It’s Tough to be a Bug - Myles was TERRIFIED but after it was over said he thinks he liked it. He is really looking forward to actually watching it this time from the seat instead of the floor, which is where he was laying during the entire show!
IMG_4227.jpg

For the Magic Kingdom, (their favorite park) the list could have been MUCH longer, and for the other parks I was surprised at how few rides were on their MUST DO list. We have lots of other rides that the kids are planning on doing for the first time this year…. But you will see/hear more on that later on in the countdown!;)

Hey Nickie!! :cutie: I've got my fingers and toes crossed, hoping you get the job at the food bank. That would be awesome to work at a place that you enjoy going to and that inspires you everyday. Not to mention, the financial aspects for your family and the ability to afford Disney next fall with the rest of us!!:thumbsup2 Good luck, I hope they call tomorrow with an amazing offer!

I have never stayed at POFQ and after reading about what the boys love about it, I think we need to check it out one of these years! It sounds like a great resort with lots of fun extra activities for the family!

Love the letter to the boys! I always have Mickey call Emily before our trips too. In fact, I need to set that up, thanks for reminding me!!:)

Thanks Wendy! you should stay there sometime. It is really a nice little resort! I forget how we did that last time? Do you remember the website we used to have Mickey call?

great update! that is where we are staying next...Danny loves POFQ! says that is what he wishes the French Quarter looked like. We did not go over to POR (it wa Dixie Landings our last stay--I'm dating us, now)...but, I bet Ashton will love the pool area!

I will probably never stay deluxe so I look so forward to our mod/deluxe  stay...I like how quaint it is there! and I love the boat to DTD!!!
love the letter! what a great way to start their magic!

wishing you luck on the job at the food bank!!! sounds like the have you on their short list!!

Thanks Connie! Never say never!! One of these days I bet you will stay deluxe. I am glad we did because now I know I liked POFQ better than the Poly and don't feel that I am missing out on anything!

I hope you get that job! I hope you hear back this week. I'm sure waiting to hear is no fun.
Thanks Shannon!

Wish you lots of luck on that job! :goodvibes Sounds like you are really excited about it. Non-profits are really trying to be well rounded and competitive in their benefits. And, YES, free parking!? No brainer there.

POFQ sounds like a fun resort! That pool area looks like so much fun that I want to slide and swim there. :rotfl: (and I definitely want to hear about how good the beignets are!!)

That letter is such a great idea, and very cute- love the Disney script- Your kids are going to freak!

Just a quick question, what free call from Mickey? Curious. :confused3

I forget about how we set that up!! i asked Wendy on here, so maybe she can tell us about it.

I did, and it's great! I've been playing it in the kitchen while I make dinner the last few evenings! :thumbsup2

We've never stayed at POFQ, but I would love to. I keep hearing how wonderful it is! And I love the letter for the boys--what a great idea!
Thanks!! I am so glad you are enjoying it. It takes while to get through it!

Nickie- good luck with the job. Sounds like it would be the perfect fit for you.

Love your PO pics. This resort doesn't really appeal to me but I do hope someday to stay at all the Disney resorts. :goodvibes
Thanks Tim! You are right, the resort never appealed to me either, but after staying there it grew on me. I do not like the cheesy alligators and the pool area I think could be so much nicer,(it is kind of tacky) but, if they do the refurb like I think they are going to, then it will be perfect in my eyes!

So..What's next on the countdown??:dance3:
yeah, yeah, yeah

Yeah, what's next???;)
um, so I havent seen an update on your report missy! ??? :rotfl:

Fun update! to your countdown...if that is number 11 can't wait to read #1 so many of your past post would have made it to our top 5...

so sorry to hear of the job situation...I'm thinking when Ashton starts school in August I will start school and start subbing again on the days I can...we'll see. I am like you I have always gone on an interview and got the job...so, I don't look forward to trying to get a job now-a-days. something will come through for you...what about the job you mentioned the other day (the HR was going to back around the 20th). good Luck! keeping my fingers and toes crossed for you!

Nickie-I am so sorry you are feeling so bummed about the job. Truly sucks, and totally THEIR loss for missing out on you!! Maybe you should click on one of those pop ups that tell you how a "SAHM can earn 10K a month with these simple steps!";)

You will get the weight loss back on track, I am sure, because you rock!

:love:the ride recap! It is funny-we (I) hate Astro Orbiter. Well, not the ride..I can't stand the queue!! If they would just make that line less of a pain!! The boys actually always want to go on it and I say "later" and they conveniently forget. And can you believe that they have never been on Dumbo? I am such a bad mom:rolleyes: I hope Myles is able to try some of the rides that he has been nervous of in the past! Have you done Snow White? (that sounds bad...) I can't get the boys back on it, after the first time a couple of years ago. They will ride RnRC until the end of time, but hate the witch on Snow White!!

Looking forward to hearing what the rest of the top 10 consists of!!!

Have a good week:hug:

Your kids are right. The rides at WDW are awesome! Peter Pan was my favorite ride when we went and rode it like 7 times in a row... and cannot wait to get back to ride it with my girls.

Cannot believe there are only 10 more items on the countdown left..what are we going to do when it is done? LOL

UGH. So sorry to hear your news of that job. Was rooting for you to get it. But keep moving forward and get that resume out there. I am sure something will happen for you. :goodvibes

I will tell you one reason AO is at least one of my favorites. It's a ride we all discovered together. None of us had been on it before. Most of the rides, we are introducing our kids to something we all like OR we are trying something that is new to the world (Toy Story Mania) for example. With Astro Orbiter, we were able to discover a classic part of Disney together...and that felt pretty special. So, its a must do everytime we go now.

/
Thanks Tim! Do you have her on video singing it? I need to get that this trip before their voices change!:rotfl2:

Woops! I missed this post.

I don't have her on video.. but I need to PRONTO!

I knew that the rides would come into the boys countdown at some point. Love all their choices!!!!!! :cool1:

Connie, that sounds like a great idea to sub while Ashton is in school. It will re-introduce you to the outside work environment! Thanks for the good wishes!! Today was my second interview- and hopefully I will be getting a call with an offer. I still have to hear back from the other place tomorrow hopefully, and then I can compare the two offers! I tell you, I just want to be working and to stop looking for a job!

Thanks so much my twin! We will see what tomorrow brings on this job front! I cant believe they called me in. The other girl must not have worked out for some reason.

Ok- so next trip- you and the boys are going to hit Astro right when you get there AT ROPE DROP :rotfl2:

Your kids are right. The rides at WDW are awesome! Peter Pan was my favorite ride when we went and rode it like 7 times in a row... and cannot wait to get back to ride it with my girls.

Oh- Don't you worry!! When we finish our top 25 I have another fun countdown in mind!!!! Thanks for the good wishes on the job front. I cant believe that they called me in for a second interview- when they were calling I was assuming it was to say " sorry!" I couldnt believe when she said, "are you still interested!?" UM YEAH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:goodvibes - I will keep you all posted!!

I will tell you one reason AO is at least one of my favorites. It's a ride we all discovered together. None of us had been on it before. Well put Hunny! Will it be our first ride of the trip with the rest of the Goodys!?

Woops! I missed this post.

I don't have her on video.. but I need to PRONTO!

I knew that the rides would come into the boys countdown at some point. Love all their choices!!!!!! :cool1:

Thanks Tim! Ok- for our next trips, let's make sure to get the kids singing to Wishes on video! They grow up TOO FAST!!!

Wow already to number 9 on the countdown! First let me tell you all the latest on the job front though!! So, Friday I got the call from the Food Bank saying basically that I was the second choice. They were going with someone who had more non-profit experience. (I have none- but have over 10 years in corporate finance) They also said they would call me Monday and let me know for sure either way.... so when I got the call Monday that they wanted me to come in for my second interview on Tuesday and that the job was mine if I wanted it, I was THRILLED! For some reason the other girl didn't work out!:goodvibes On my interview I have to say it was kind of weird..... the guy I would work for went into the culture there and told me what problems they have as a company.... For instance he said salary people complain when they work overtime but are not paid for it and then if time off they need to use their vacation time... Isnt it like that everywhere!? WEIRD! Then I meet with a really nice girl who comes from Fidelity and said how she loves it because the hours are until 4:30 and it is a great work life balance for people with families. Then comes in the second girl.... she was like "it isnt all flowers and chocolates here... some days are good and some days are stressful:confused, there are many nights i am here until 7PM" UGH! :headache: So I already know that I dont like her!! :rotfl2: How did this place go from being "the PERFECT place for me" to, "I don't even know if I really want it now!!!!??" HELP me my DIS friends!! Keep in mind, my unemployment runs out in 2 weeks!:scared1: I need a job or NO DISNEY:scared1: NO XMAS:scared1: NO CAPE:scared1:

I LOVE the idea of working for a company with a good cause. I love the idea that I will be helping my community. I love the idea that I will be proud of where I work. I even love the work I would be doing.... marketing for the food bank!! I just feel uneasy after that second interview a little. OK, sorry enough about this - thanks for listening to more work drama and hopefully this will all be over and then you will need to listen to me cry everyday because of how much I miss my kids!!!!!!!!!!:sad2:

KIDS TOP 25 TO DISNEY

NUMBER 9: THE ANIMAL KINGDOM PARK!

IMG_4173.jpg
The boys love this park! They put it at the bottom of the 4 parks though. I have to agree that it is no Magic Kingdom and at times I wonder if we should skip it, but then I am always glad we didn't!

IMG_4175.jpg

The first year we went to AK, it was when Myles was 9 months old.

IMG_0984.jpg

We were in Disney the week after Xmas:scared1: and also there with all of my inlaws:scared1:. AK was PACKED! The walkways are so narrow, and I remember the carriage kept getting bumped and we would stand in the same spot many times for 5 minutes because we were STUCK! There were so many people and it was just awful. We did sneak off with Myles and went to the character spot and that was fun. I mean we waited over an hour for each character - but I guess we needed the break from the rest of the family so we didnt even mind!!

IMG_0973.jpg

IMG_0978.jpg

IMG_0969.jpg

We decided on the next trip to give it a try. This was Sept 07 - my very favorite trip to Disney! We LOVED AK and had SO much fun. Especially with the characters. Myles loved Donald Duck (still his favorite) and when he finallly saw him, it was something I will always remember!!:lovestruc

362841733503_0_ALB.jpg

465041733503_0_ALB.jpg

The next time we went to AK was in May 2009. Jeff and Shannon met us this day to spend the day at AK with us.

703944172703_0_ALB.jpg

It was AWESOME because the kids just latched right onto them and Wayne and I got a little break and some time to hold hands and be together at the Park! We had a magical moment on this trip when we were walking by the safari after getting fast passes and the wait was like 45 minutes and this CM said, "Would you guys like to go on the Safari!?" We were like "SURE!!" He opened this gate and we all walked down this secret path right to the entrance with the Jeeps! It was SOOOOOOO AWESOME! I also remember Owen who just loves his uncle so much that he wouldn’t let him put him down and he fell asleep on him during lunch.

833454172703_0_ALB.jpg

We also went to the parade for the first time! We LOVED it!! I couldn't believe all we had missed on the previous trip! The weather on that trip was CRAZY HOT! I am talking RECORD HEAT for Florida and we New Englanders are just not prepared to deal with that kind of heat. AK is one of the HOTTEST parks so as much fun as we were having; we had to leave right after the parade! This trip we LOVED AK! We discovered the Yak & Yeti, The Parades, all the characters, and shared a special Magical Moment! It was awesome!!

907064172703_0_ALB.jpg

Last year, January 2010 was the last time we went to AK. I have to say that Wayne and I "Drank around the World" the night before, and were feeling VERY ILL! But we had an 8:05ADR at the Tusker House so no sleeping in for us! Wayne had discovered Face Book and was updating his status like every 5minutes. I remember walking with the carriage and Myles and all our stuff while he walked ahead "texting on his phone" and I was so mad! :headache: We didn’t talk until Nemo that early afternoon! After the quiet breakfast we went on the Safari. We were first in line and then rope drop happened.

IMG_4192.jpg

We were practically run down! I couldn't believe all the people pushing and running through us to get on the Safari! So between that and little fight we had, AK wasn't looking so magical this year to us! We did end up making up after Nemo. This was the first time we saw this and all of us got a little teary eyed in it. We all loved it and it totally changed all of our moods!!

IMG_4255.jpg

After Nemo, we spent the day doing all the stuff we love about Animal Kingdom. (Meeting the characters, Lunch at yak & Yeti, Boneyard, Wayne rode Everest, and we had lots of fun. We watched the parade and then headed back to the hotel for a swim. It ended up being fun in the end but not one of our best AK days!

IMG_4228.jpg

IMG_4257.jpg

This year we are going to AK and it will be our first AM EMH at the Animal Kingdom! I am looking forward to that!! We are really excited about going as a big group and going on the safari together. I think this will be another year that we head out after the parade. I do want to see the Lion King show- (we have never seen this) and make sure to all go see the Nemo musical together. Hopefully this year will be another great visit to the Animal Kingdom!

The boys wanted me to say, "we hope you like our countdown!!"

Up Next: - Number 8!!

First of all, CONGRATS on the job! Have you booked your fall trip yet? :rotfl:

Second, don't get down about the job until you get there and see how things really are. Some people are just naturally "Debbie Downers" and never have anything nice to say about anything. You may find that she works until 7pm some nights because she makes more work for herself by not doing her work correctly the 1st time or waiting until the last minute, etc. and then she has to stay late to get everything done. I'm sure you will make the most of it and find your place there.:thumbsup2

Finally, AK is a fun park, but it's probably our 4th favorite. We're hoping this year will be better since we are going in Dec and it won't be 400 degrees in that park this time!! Well, that's if we go at all! I still haven't decided! :scared1: I know!

Anyway, keep your spirits up! I hope the Food Bank ends up being everything you thought it would be!:cloud9:

first Nickie, CONGRATULATIONS!
and I second what Wendy said; you need to give it a try for yourself first than start looking for a different job...but, I really think you are going to like it there! How exciting to be starting something new...
love the new update to the countdown...we still have to meet the characters at AK! we enjoy AK it is probably our 4th in the park line up too, though!
Have a great day!
so when do you start the new job?!?
:wave2: Connie

OMG what a turn of events! And FYI, and I am sure I don't need to tell you this, but some people are just miserable and want everyone to join in from the start. (it is easier for some people to bond over hate than love, not sure why) Oh I hope you accepted the job!! (DID YOU!!??! :confused3 )

and I LOVE THE ANIMAL KINGDOM! That river raft ride is my all time favorite WDW ride!

Congrats on the job!! If you do end up working til 7pm sometimes maybe you could use that as leverage to put in just a half day on a Friday or something. That's what we used to do. We called it Comp time. :)

Hi Wendy! Thanks for the good advice! and I havent booked it YET but I have been pricing it out on disney.com and I have the trip down to 1200 for the 4 of us!! I am just waiting a couple of weeks and I am going to put the deposit down. I figure it cant hurt to put down the deposit. If it turns out we cant go then I can cancel BUT if we can go atleast it will be booked - and another great thing about working at the Food Bank is 18 VACATION days!! I was thinking for the fall trip I would only need to take 2 days too. (go Thursday AM and come home on Sunday night) So I am getting CLOSE TO BOOKING!!! (Even if Hubby keeps saying, "I really want to go, but we probably can't!" What he is forgetting is that I am the planner in the family and I do the finances.... I am going to really try to find a way to make this work!

first Nickie, CONGRATULATIONS!

:wave2: Connie

Hi Connie!!! Thanks so much!! I start November 1st! It is going to be quite an adjustment going from being home all the time to working 5 days a week. I havent worked 5 days a week since I was pregnant with Myles 7 years ago!

YES I have accepted!! It was pretty confusing there. At one point I didnt have the job, then I did, and then I got a second offer, but in the end the Food Bank won! I start Nov 1st!!:woohoo:

Congrats on the job!! If you do end up working til 7pm sometimes maybe you could use that as leverage to put in just a half day on a Friday or something. That's what we used to do. We called it Comp time. :)

Thanks Shannon!! No late nights for me!! Working at the Food Bank they close at 4:30!!:yay: I loved the 3 month pics you put up on FB by the way! He is such a cutie!!!

Good Morning!!
Before I get to the countdown I wanted to post a little update!! So, I think you all know on here but I got the job at the Greater Boston Food Bank!!:yay::woohoo: www.GBFB.org (I posted the website so you could check out the company if you wanted- it is an AMAZING place filled with some great people who are all very passionate about ending hunger in our community.) So now I need to organize a big family volunteer day!! I had said that even if I didn't get the job I wanted to do this.

Update on C25K - Well, I have FINISHED the C25K Program!!! And while I am not running a 5K, I am running 30 minutes. I need to work on my speed so that I can run longer distance in the 30 minutes. Hopefully this winter i will continue to work on this and run the 30 minutes 3 times a week, and then by the spring, I will do my first 5K and then in October when I am in Disney, I will run that 5K with no problem!!! I just need to figure out WHEN the heck I can run working 5 days a week!?? I know I can do it on the weekends but I need to figure out when during the week to fit it in. Maybe in the mornings before work!?

Loosing 60 in 10 Months Update: Maybe now that all the stress that goes along with job hunting is over, I can FINALLY get back on plan. That is the hope anyway. I can't even step on that scale. I know I need to. I just am afraid to see all that hard work I did to loose 30 pounds is all gone and now I need to start back again all over and i only have 12 weeks before the trip and I am starting a new job! THE PRESSURE!!!!:scared1: How much can I loose in 12 weeks?? I think I lost most of that 30 pounds in 12 weeks.... Maybe I can get that back before the trip! What do you think!?

Anyone want to join me in a 12 week challenge!?

Goody Grand Gathering update: I want to work this week to finalize some plans. I can't even believe the trip is in 12 weeks. It is crazy to think that in 12 weeks Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Years would have come and gone, and the trip will be here!! CRAZY!!! I plan to pay the trip off in 2 weeks. WHAT a feeling that will be! :woohoo: I have to print the invitations out this week and the letter from Mickey to the boys.

Ok guys- I have to go get the kids ready for church and CCD.... then flu shots and then the Patriots game at 4 - another busy day!

Nickie-I am so excited for you and the job at the Food Bank! It sounds like a great fit:goodvibes I sure will miss seeing you online during the day:laughing: The vacation time is great, too! Wow!!

Loved your Animal Kingdom update. If you have time to see the Lion King show-you should! It is amazing! How's this? You promise to see Lion King and I will promise to see Nemo! :rotfl: I will join you on your 12 week challenge..I had to wear a swimsuit this weekend and it was horrifying:scared1: Do I really have to get on the scale, though?? Way to go on finishing C25K, BTW:yay::cheer2::cheer2:

So, for running during the week...Is there a Y in downtown Beantown? Could you run on your lunch? (Even 20 minutes??)

Congrats again on the job, and enjoy your last week as a SAHM!

I'm in for joining you in losing weight. I always seem to start a weight loss plan before the holidays. Not sure that's the greatest idea but I need to loose all of this extra weight.

Enjoy your last week as a SAHM! Have fun and don't stress too much about going back to work!

I'm on bored with the weight loss. Mike and I have been going back and forth on whether we want another baby and I think we both feel that we're not done, so I need to loose some weight so I can get preggers again.......maybe!! :scared1:

Has Owen already started preschool? I know you were waiting for a spot to open up for him?

Just an FYI, with the 5K at Disney you get tix to the MNSSHP on Sunday night so you might want to look into leaving on Monday!:thumbsup2
