The hook is that you have to spend ten dollars to put a twenty dollar credit on your giant frequent buyer card. Then you need to spend fifty dollars in a single order to get that twenty dollar credit. So the come on is a little misleading. But it still means that you will get a twenty per cent discount on your total purchase if you dont spend more than fifty dollars. And lately every little bit counts when it comes to groceries. :) Im going to check my circular to see what I can maych up with coupons and bogos.

Thanks for the tip. :santa: Who has trouble spending $50 on groceries?!:rolleyes1 I'll pass it along to my DD who lives in Va. (We don't have Giant stores in Ohio.) :thumbsup2

I looked at this deal and it appears it's good only at the GIANT stores in Pennsylvania, not the ones in Virginia. It might work at the Giants in Virginia, because the stores are under the same corporate umbrella, but a lot of deals are completely separate and disparate...

Its kind of ambiguous b/c its from the lancaster pa area but the offer says any giant foods store. And then under the additional terms it mentions that milk and cream purchases are excluded from the total in pa and va only.

Okay. I checked the certificate that I got when I bought it and it specifically states that its valid at all giant food stores locations .

cool. thanks for posting. just bought it. i will pass word onto friends and family. $10 saved is $10 saved....

The fine print on OPs link specifically says "Any GIANT Food Stores in South Central PA" -- therefore, even though Giant (Carlisle) and Giant (Landover) do share the same corporate parent, the deal will most likely be no good in DC/MD/VA.

Actually the fine print reads
"The Fine Print: Redeemable at any GIANT location. $50 minimum grocery items spend must be met after all discounts have been subtracted from order and before sales tax has been added to order.
Must be redeemed by 11-30-2010. SEE BELOW FOR ADDITIONAL TERMS FOR THIS DEAL."

And the certificate that I bought reads
The following items are excluded from our offer and toward hitting the $50 minimum spend and qualifying towards minimum coupon
requirements: milk and cream (PA & VA only), alcohol, tobacco, money orders, postage stamps, lottery tickets, gasoline and other
fuel, gift cards, amusement park and any other tickets, Western Union wire transfer services, fax service, copying machine service,
coin operated vending machines, utility payments, prepaid telephone calling cards, prepaid wireless, delivery charges, dry cleaning,
fund raising activities and donations, returned check service fees, payments toward store charge account balances, personal shopper
fee, bottle deposits, and prescriptions (prescription copay amounts, except those for state and federally funded prescription plans
including Medicare, Medicaid and government funded programs, will earn Extra Rewards points). This list is subject to change,
additional exclusions may apply. Extra Rewards points, minimum coupon requirements and percentage discounts are calculated after
all of the aforementioned items, as well as all discounts and coupons have been subtracted from the order. There will be no Extra
Rewards points earned or discount received on the amount of sales tax and other taxes owed by the consumer. However, the
discounted price reductions given on taxable items will reduce the amount of tax owed on those items. Not to be doubled or tripled.
Value is immediately added to your GIANT BONUSCARD upon purchase. Valid one offer per GIANT BONUSCARD/household.
Valid at all GIANT Food Stores Locations.

Giant food stores corporate headquarters is located in south central pa (carlisle).

True, but Giant-Landover (D.C. and surrounding area) is aligned with New England's Stop & Shop chain -- to the point where those two stores now share similar branding. Giant-Landover and Stop & Shop even have their combined HQ in Massachusetts.

Also, this from the Giant-Landover website's FAQ:

Are you part of the Giant Food store chain located in Pennsylvania and West Virginia?

Giant Food of Carlisle, PA operates supermarkets primarily in Pennsylvania, with stores in West Virginia, Virginia and Maryland (Martin's). If you are looking for one of these stores, copy the following URL into your browser - http://www.giantfoodstores.com. Their mailing address is 1149 Harrisburg Pike, Carlisle, PA 17013, phone 1-888-814-4268. Both Giant of Maryland and Giant of Carlisle are owned by the same parent company, Royal Ahold of the Netherlands, but operate independently
.

I'm still sticking to what I said...

So would this deal be valid if I did some shopping at a Giant food store in the Penn State area of PA?

I'm 99% sure the Penn State/State College area Giant stores are part of this chain. :)
