Boohooo, the final day and as sad as we were, we were ready to go home. I think we were a bit Disney-ed out
I think if we had had a rental car to take a few more trips off site we could have easily stayed another 10 days ;-)
Anyway, on to the dining report.
The initial plan was to try the breakfast items at WPE but after sharing the chocolate macadamia cupcake first thing in the morning, we weren't hungry for quite some time...
So after dropping our bags off, we headed for Downtown Disney to spend our last few $ on our Disney gift card, which was also a bonus as part of our booking along with the
free dining.
I managed to get three OPI nailpolishes from the Muppets collection, which I was very happy about.
Oh yes...sorry, this is a dining report.
We had a quick think and instead of breakfast we just decided to wait a little bit longer and just go to
Wolfgang Puck Express for a very early lunch at 11:30, where we got this:
I know, it's getting boring by now, but yes, we had the salmon again, BOTH OF US!
We even had the same dessert(cheesecake) and drink, so when the waiter brought the food to the table, he laughed and actually said "That's a bit sad that you and mum have the same meal", which I thought was a bit cheeky.
We told him that this was our fourth visit in 11 days and we simply loved the salmon.
This meal came to
$55.07, breakfast probably would have been about $30 as you don't get dessert/second drink with it.
Now we had only one counter service credit left and kept weighing up the options. I briefly considered a take away Earl Of Sandwich for the airport, but that wasn't for a few more hours so we decided against it.
We dropped into
Goofy's Candy to spend our dining credits.
They were giving out samples of the glacier drink again and we were really close to getting one each but think we got distracted. But I did like the banana and grape, we got to try a few of them on the many trips to DTD.
I bought two more packs of cheesy Mickey head crackers(like Goldfish) for the girls I nanny for back in London and also another Mickey Krispie treat, because they were such amazing value.
Mum got the same, her Krispie treat was M&Ms, mine was Reeses Pieces.
6 snacks=$27.38
We returned to CSR to take a few more pictures and refill our mugs one last time.
As there was no way we'd be able to eat any food right there and then, we decided to use the dining credit for the poorest value possible and converted it into 3 snack credits. We got two packs of fruit and a banana bread, which we were going to eat at the airport.
This came to
$11.48
Then the Magical Express picked us up and took us to the airport hours and hours before our departure.
Our dinner was a not so very nice Chick Fil A, won't be eating there again but that doesn't belong in this review
blah food, really not very nice at all:
So this is is, we did it! 10 days and not a single credit went to waste.
I was worried before this trip because people were speaking badly about the quick service plan but we had the best experience with it.
Maybe it's because this was the first time we were on any kind of dining plan but we enjoyed the freedom of eating what we want, when we want.
We toured some of the resorts simply because we wanted to eat at their Quick Service restaurants.
I realise that it might have been a bit boring to read about our repeated trips to WPE, The Mara or CHH but those three were our absolute favourite restaurants.
I really wanted to visit Pop Century for the tie dye cheesecake, Port Orleans for the make your own Pasta and a couple of other resorts, but we simply didn't get around to it. Next time!
Would I pay for the Dining Plan? No
Would I upgrade next time if free dining was offered again? It depends. If it is just mum and me, or my partner and me then no, I wouldn't as we can share meals, bring more snacks and eat off site.
But if things go the way I'm planning, then hopefully in 2014 we will return as a happy little family of three, plus my mum and her boyfriend(plus his teenage kids?) so then we would either upgrade or book a resort that included the regular dining plan as I think in a group sit down meals are a nice treat. And of course I'd want my baby to experice some character meals.
So, how much did we spend? Did we 'break even'?
0/40 Dining credits remaining
0/40 snack credits remaining
total (not) spent: $936.95
We ate almost $1000 worth of food, that's
$46.85 per person per day, the UK QSDP containing 2 snacks costs £23.99, which is
$37.47(acc to google), so yes, we broke even and then some....
HOWEVER, we ate meals that we would have never ever bought out of packet, we bought a whole load of snacks to take home, which I normally wouldn't have.(a bag of goldfish crackers from Target is just as good, actually nicer than the Disney version and only $1, not $3)
So this is it, the end of my dining report
I live on my own back home and have to say coming back and motivating myself to cook was hard, It had been so easy to say "today I feel like chicken salad", hop on a bus to Animal Kingdom Lodge and hand over your card for free food.
Sadly, nobody was giving me free food back home.
Thank you so much for reading along. I think I have motivated myself enough to write a trip report now
Hope to see you again in 2014, goodbye for now!
