10 Days in October: Argle-Bargle or Foofarah? UPDATED: POSTS #984 & 995!!!

I know it's only been a day, but I randomly started thinking about Grimace and decided that I needed an update. :) I'm already in withdrawal.

Okay, I am on day 3 (just finished the shopping for ears segement). I agree with you about the YOMD decorations. Your monorail idea was great - have you called and suggested it yet. I guess the decorations look weird because WDW is not typically abstract...

Okay, I am doped up on Nyquil so I must go to bed now. Slowly but surely, I will catch up.

Hi Stacey! Glad to see you made it back to the trippie but sorry to hear you're not feeling well. I'm hoping to get a better feel for those YOMD decorations next month. ;)

Oh I so hate to see your trip report end. Could you just move to WDW and write a daily column? ;)

Thanks Tina, that's very kind of you. If it helps, I have a pre-trip report going for the trip Jay and I have planned for next month. It's the very last link in my signature - Bring Us a Shrubbery! If you really can't get enough this one will ensure that you're likely to be reading junk from me all summer. ;)

I'm always going to think of you as Brenda-no-pants! :rotfl2:
The burlesque episode! That one's the best, I love that song!! And at the end when Homer yells at Marge on stage to take if off, and Bart kicks him out! Great episode!! :lmao:
And, I thought of you earlier. DD and I were making cookies, and watching Spongebob. And guess what episode was on? That's right....FUN!! Now it's stuck in my head again.:lmao: :lmao:

I knew once I posted that the name was going to stick! :lmao:

We always miss the FUN episode...d'oh! I showed Jay your video clip from the other day and he was very amused. He's actually singing the FUN song right now! :rotfl2:

:rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: That's great! Sounds like your mom has a good sense of humor about the fact that Jay likes it when you don't wear pants!;)

Grimace does have a pretty good sense of humor - sometimes. ;)

I know it's only been a day, but I randomly started thinking about Grimace and decided that I needed an update. :) I'm already in withdrawal.

Bless your heart! I probably won't be able to update until some time tomorrow - got another wedding today (two in two weeks) and life in general is getting kind of wacky these days. But if you can hang on I'll do my best to get something posted by the end of the weekend.

There are some great Grimace moments from our food and wine pairing at Restaurant Marrakesh and wait until you hear about MNSSHP later that evening...:rotfl2:

On Pins and Needles...But Really Just Pins

Hey everybody! I have to get going soon for another wedding, but I did manage to take some pictures of the pins we ended up buying in October and I thought I'd share them with you. This was our first foray into pin-purchasing...it's addictive - once I started I couldn't stop! :lmao:

Jay asked a great question on the way home, "What are we supposed to do with these now?"

"I don't know; maybe I can just add them to the scrapbook."

"So in 2015 you might actually have all of this stuff organized in one place?"

Okay - so I'm not the most prolific scrapbooker. I'm not good with my hands and I'm not really a very artistic person. I may have a way with words sometimes but that's about as far as it goes. Anyhoo...take a gander at our exciting new WDW pin collection:

These are Vacation Club Pins, the first one is the Beach Club Villas and the second is just a standard DVC pin marking WDW's 35th anniversary. I find it amusing that we could only find a Beach Club Villas pin in the gift shop at the Yacht Club. :rotfl:

Each night during MNSSHP they release one pin specific to that party's date - this is the one for 10/24/06...Chip and Dale with a spooky crystal ball that spins!

Jon bought me this:

I bought these two because I liked them and they're sparkley...oohhh, pretty!

And this last one was just for Jay:

Not only do we have an actual Darth Tater, but we also have a Spud Trooper. How could I not buy this pin for my hubby? :rotfl2:

***OK - have we got a treat for you!! Back in November Jason took all of our Plankton vacation pictures and made a video. We thought it was a riot (we may be the only ones..) but could never figure out how to share it on-line. Today there has been a major breakthrough in the Mengwasser household and Youtube is now the proud recipient of almost 9 minutes of demented work from my husband.

There are spoilers in this video - you will see many pictures of events that I haven't made it to in this trip report yet. Hopefully you will all still want to come back and read about everything after you've seen the video.***

Without further ado...Plankton Takes on Walt Disney World. Be sure to have your sound turned up!!! ;)

Plankton takes on the World

Haaaaaaaaaaaaaa HHHHHHHHAAAAAAA!!!!!!!!!!!

Watching now. This is a riot!!!!!!!!!!!

I didn't know whether to laugh more at the shenanigans or the end credits!!
(Nice crew job Jason gave you. LOL)

And nice pins! The only one of those I have is the Rock n Roller Coaster pin. Wait, I think I have the BCV pin, too. It's an addiction.

Loved It! The kids even loved it! They are Plankton fans from way back. I do have one question, though. Your DH will dress up like Mickey Mouse, but he won't wear a matching tshirt!!! In the immortal words of my teenager, that's whack! (Just kidding!:thumbsup2)

Watching now. This is a riot!!!!!!!!!!!

Somehow Kay I knew you'd enjoy this! Thanks for taking a look and letting us know you enjoyed Jay's hard work. :goodvibes

Darn Dial Up!!! :furious:

Nancy - will you be able to watch it from work? It could take a looooooong time on dial-up.

:rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

I knew you'd like this, too, Lori! And someone had to do the dirty work since Jay was the creative genius behind the video. ;)

Totally addicted now to pins...:scared:

Hi Lynn! Glad you and the kids enjoyed the video! Jay dressed up like Mickey Mouse for MNSSHP because I begged him to for something like three years. He got a payoff with the bag of candy. He gets no real payoff by wearing a matching shirt because I already don't wear pants! :rotfl2:

:3dglasses Disturbing.... in a good way. :thumbsup2 I think Jay has waaaaaaaaaaaaay too much time on his hands. :rolleyes1 Welcome to the YouTube nation. Brenda is definitely Evil Minion #1 :cool2: I especially liked the German baby heads... cool... and I think Plankton and Pleakly are related... really, I do. Alien inbreeding... or something like that. I just want to know how many odd looks you guys get when you are taking all these pictures! :tilt:

Great job on the video slideshow! Tell Jay he has to make more!!! :goodvibes

Have a nice weekend!

On Pins and Needles...But Really Just Pins
Rock 'n' Roller Coaster (the car moves!):

I started my pin collection this summer... I never really thought to get into it until... well, I bought my first pin. Haha. Anyway, I quoted you on the RnR one because I have it too! I bought it b/c (1) it's one of my favorite rides and (2) THE CAR MOVES (like you said).

I thought my pin thing was over, but of course I had to get one at DLP too. Hehe. Oh Disney. You make my life.

Okay, enough babble... time to read this new entry... YES! I can't wait to hear what the Grimace does next! popcorn::

Nancy - will you be able to watch it from work? It could take a looooooong time on dial-up.

Sure, if I wouldn't have tossed out my speakers. I'll watch it tonight on Kristins laptop. She has high speed.

Fun video! (great soundtrack too) My favorite shot has to be Plankton and the line up of doll heads :lmao: Can't wait for another update and more 'good times with Grimace' :)

Pins are like my Disney crack. I cannot believe how addicting it is! I went on the Segway tour back in 2005 and received my first pin at the end of it. Now I can't stop!

That video is hysterical! Thank you for sharing that. I sent it to Dan and he loved it too!:goodvibes

Man, that was a great video, so funny!!! I loved it, tell Jason geat work!! :thumbsup2 :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

Pins are addicting! Run away! :lmao:
The hubby and I started collecting on our honeymoon. He's still going strong, I dabble a bit, and our 4 year old has her own, in her own book. We're Hollyboo710 on Pinpics, in case you want to see our insanity. He's running out of pins he needs.

Brenda,
I love the Darth Tater pin, where did you get it, my son would love it.
Also, the video is so awesome.:rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

Yes - definitely disturbing! :lmao: And the baby heads seem to be striking a chord with people which is a bit disturbing in and of itself! I told Jay that I'd always found that display in the German toy shop a little off-putting so he said, "Let's get a shot of them with Plankton - that's right up his alley!" :rotfl2:

And we did get some strange looks from people, but there were a lot of kids around who saw us and thought it was really funny. By the end of the week, believe it or not, Grimace was actually even getting into it... a little.

Great job on the video slideshow! Tell Jay he has to make more!!! :goodvibes

Have a nice weekend!

I'll be sure to pass that along to him - he spent an entire week in November putting it all together, so I'm sure he'll be happy to know people appreciate his work...insane though it may be. ;)

I asked him this morning what he was going to do for an encore and he suddenly looked very worried...too much pressure! BTW - how did you know that typos give me the shakes? :rotfl2:

The fact that the car moves was the main reason I bought the pin! :lmao:

If we ever make to it DLP I know I'll go nuts buying stuff because it will probably be a once-in-a-lifetime visit. Some day it will happen!

Grimmie will be up to her old tricks...you'll see. ;)

Sure, if I wouldn't have tossed out my speakers. I'll watch it tonight on Kristins laptop. She has high speed.

Nancy...cross over to the dark side where we have high-speed internet and broadband. Join us......:lmao:

Fun video! (great soundtrack too) My favorite shot has to be Plankton and the line up of doll heads :lmao: Can't wait for another update and more 'good times with Grimace' :)

Thank you! Yes, that shot with the baby heads seems to be popular. I have to admit that my favorite (and I love all of them) is the one with the Norwegian Troll - that's really what got the ball rolling at Epcot.

Pins are like my Disney crack. I cannot believe how addicting it is! I went on the Segway tour back in 2005 and received my first pin at the end of it. Now I can't stop!

I'm beginning to understand what you mean about the pins. I'm going to try to restrain myself next month... OK, you can stop laughing now!

We're taking a Segway Tour in October - can't wait! And we get a pin?? Yeah, baby! :thumbsup2

That video is hysterical! Thank you for sharing that. I sent it to Dan and he loved it too!:goodvibes

I'm glad you guys enjoyed it! Like I said earlier, we thought it was funny but it's hard to tell if anyone else would really be amused by it. Have you decided - are you coming to WDW this fall now?

Man, that was a great video, so funny!!! I loved it, tell Jason geat work!! :thumbsup2 :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

Thanks so much - I'll be sure to let him know you liked it.

Yeah, addictive is the right word. You'd think I would have learned my lesson with the Hard Rock pins, but no...I had to start looking all those revolving pin stands and playing with all the pins that have moving parts and then suddenly I was like, "Hey, look at that! Oh, and that! And, that one and that one and than one and ...."

Well, you get the picture. ;)

Brenda,
I love the Darth Tater pin, where did you get it, my son would love it.
Also, the video is so awesome.:rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

Hi there Jusmom, glad you liked the video! Jason is tickled pink that so many people here are getting a kick out of it. :goodvibes

I found the Darth Tater pin at the Rock 'n' Roller Coaster gift shop - I was waiting for Jason and Jon to dump out from their ride and was killing time when I spotted it.

I know you are going to be in WDW prior to us next month, if you don't find it let me know and Jay and I will keep an eye open for it when we're there. If we find one we'll nab it for your DS. It's the least we can do!! :goodvibes

Oh yeah, those German baby doll heads were disturbing, but then again, I have another reason to find the dolls disturbing. On one of my trips, I went to watch the cast members making the dolls. There was this woman next to me who said she was making the doll for her daughter. So I thought, "How sweet." As we talked, the grandmother came by, and then I realized what they were actually doing: The daughter had died, and the Mom and grandmother were making a doll that looked EXACTLY like her! :scared1: I couldn't help but be creeped out by this.

We're taking a Segway Tour in October - can't wait! And we get a pin?? Yeah, baby! :thumbsup2

Yes you get a pin....with a little person on the Segway...and it MOVES, too! :woohoo: Have you booked your tour yet? If not, maybe you could book the same one I'm going to book for October 16th. :) That's really the only day I can do it.
