I know it's only been a day, but I randomly started thinking about Grimace and decided that I needed an update. I'm already in withdrawal.

Okay, I am on day 3 (just finished the shopping for ears segement). I agree with you about the YOMD decorations. Your monorail idea was great - have you called and suggested it yet. I guess the decorations look weird because WDW is not typically abstract...

Okay, I am doped up on Nyquil so I must go to bed now. Slowly but surely, I will catch up.

Oh I so hate to see your trip report end. Could you just move to WDW and write a daily column?

The burlesque episode! That one's the best, I love that song!! And at the end when Homer yells at Marge on stage to take if off, and Bart kicks him out! Great episode!!
And, I thought of you earlier. DD and I were making cookies, and watching Spongebob. And guess what episode was on? That's right....FUN!! Now it's stuck in my head again.

I knew once I posted that the name was going to stick!

We always miss the FUN episode...d'oh! I showed Jay your video clip from the other day and he was very amused. He's actually singing the FUN song right now!

That's great! Sounds like your mom has a good sense of humor about the fact that Jay likes it when you don't wear pants!

Grimace does have a pretty good sense of humor - sometimes.

Bless your heart! I probably won't be able to update until some time tomorrow - got another wedding today (two in two weeks) and life in general is getting kind of wacky these days. But if you can hang on I'll do my best to get something posted by the end of the weekend.

On Pins and Needles...But Really Just Pins

Hey everybody! I have to get going soon for another wedding, but I did manage to take some pictures of the pins we ended up buying in October and I thought I'd share them with you. This was our first foray into pin-purchasing...it's addictive - once I started I couldn't stop!

Jay asked a great question on the way home, "What are we supposed to do with these now?"

"I don't know; maybe I can just add them to the scrapbook."

"So in 2015 you might actually have all of this stuff organized in one place?"

Okay - so I'm not the most prolific scrapbooker. I'm not good with my hands and I'm not really a very artistic person. I may have a way with words sometimes but that's about as far as it goes. Anyhoo...take a gander at our exciting new WDW pin collection:

These are Vacation Club Pins, the first one is the Beach Club Villas and the second is just a standard DVC pin marking WDW's 35th anniversary. I find it amusing that we could only find a Beach Club Villas pin in the gift shop at the Yacht Club.

This was one of the Food and Wine Festival pins that were being sold at EPCOT. I love Goofy!

Each night during MNSSHP they release one pin specific to that party's date - this is the one for 10/24/06...Chip and Dale with a spooky crystal ball that spins!

And this last one was just for Jay:

Not only do we have an actual Darth Tater, but we also have a Spud Trooper. How could I not buy this pin for my hubby?

Today there has been a major breakthrough in the Mengwasser household and Youtube is now the proud recipient of almost 9 minutes of demented work from my husband.

There are spoilers in this video - you will see many pictures of events that I haven't made it to in this trip report yet. Hopefully you will all still want to come back and read about everything after you've seen the video.***

Hi Lynn! Glad you and the kids enjoyed the video! Jay dressed up like Mickey Mouse for MNSSHP because I begged him to for something like three years. He got a payoff with the bag of candy. He gets no real payoff by wearing a matching shirt because I already don't wear pants!

Pins are like my Disney crack. I cannot believe how addicting it is! I went on the Segway tour back in 2005 and received my first pin at the end of it. Now I can't stop!

Yes - definitely disturbing! And the baby heads seem to be striking a chord with people which is a bit disturbing in and of itself! I told Jay that I'd always found that display in the German toy shop a little off-putting so he said, "Let's get a shot of them with Plankton - that's right up his alley!"

And we did get some strange looks from people, but there were a lot of kids around who saw us and thought it was really funny. By the end of the week, believe it or not, Grimace was actually even getting into it... a little.

I asked him this morning what he was going to do for an encore and he suddenly looked very worried...too much pressure! BTW - how did you know that typos give me the shakes?

Thank you! Yes, that shot with the baby heads seems to be popular. I have to admit that my favorite (and I love all of them) is the one with the Norwegian Troll - that's really what got the ball rolling at Epcot.

Yeah, addictive is the right word. You'd think I would have learned my lesson with the Hard Rock pins, but no...I had to start looking all those revolving pin stands and playing with all the pins that have moving parts and then suddenly I was like, "Hey, look at that! Oh, and that! And, that one and that one and than one and ...."

I found the Darth Tater pin at the Rock 'n' Roller Coaster gift shop - I was waiting for Jason and Jon to dump out from their ride and was killing time when I spotted it.

I know you are going to be in WDW prior to us next month, if you don't find it let me know and Jay and I will keep an eye open for it when we're there. If we find one we'll nab it for your DS. It's the least we can do!!

Oh yeah, those German baby doll heads were disturbing, but then again, I have another reason to find the dolls disturbing. On one of my trips, I went to watch the cast members making the dolls. There was this woman next to me who said she was making the doll for her daughter. So I thought, "How sweet." As we talked, the grandmother came by, and then I realized what they were actually doing: The daughter had died, and the Mom and grandmother were making a doll that looked EXACTLY like her! I couldn't help but be creeped out by this.

We're taking a Segway Tour in October - can't wait! And we get a pin?? Yeah, baby!

Yes you get a pin....with a little person on the Segway...and it MOVES, too! Have you booked your tour yet? If not, maybe you could book the same one I'm going to book for October 16th. That's really the only day I can do it.
