I'm on the phone with DCL right now and our Western cruise has changed to an Eastern for 10/29 due to the hurricane. Waiting to find out what they do about Palo ressies and excursions since we cannot book anything on line since we are so close to the date.

Frustrating. Keep us posted on how DCL handles the whole situation.

If it's any help...I prefer the eastern over the western. Have a great cruise! I will be waving bye to you from Rusty's at the port on Saturday...we sail on the Dream Sunday.

Here is the email I just got from DCL:
October 26, 2011

As you may be aware, the latest reports from the National Weather Service indicate Hurricane Rina is moving through the Western Caribbean. The storm is currently predicted to be near Key West on Sunday. Due to the possible impact of this storm over the next few days in the Western Caribbean, we have modified our course and changed our itinerary to include ports of call a safe distance away from the storm.

Therefore, the October 29, 2011, voyage will set sail for the Eastern Caribbean. The revised itinerary will be as follows:

Saturday – Port Canaveral
Sunday – Day at Sea Formal Night
Monday – Day at Sea Halloween
Tuesday – St. Maarten Pirates IN the Caribbean
Wednesday – Tortola
Thursday – Day at Sea Semi-Formal Night
Friday – Disney’s Castaway Cay
Saturday – Port Canaveral

The safety and well-being of our Guests and Crew Members is our highest priority, and we truly appreciate your understanding regarding this necessary itinerary change due to the current severe weather conditions.

Port Adventures that were pre-reserved in Key West, Grand Cayman and Cozumel will automatically be removed from your onboard account, while those for Castaway Cay will remain as scheduled. Port Adventures for St. Maarten and Tortola may be booked once onboard at the Port Adventures Desk, located on Deck 3, Mid-ship. Any pre-booked services at Palo, Flounder’s Reef Nursery and Vista Spa and Salon reservations will also remain as originally scheduled.

We know this itinerary change will provide you with the first-class experience Guests have come to know and expect from Disney Cruise Line®. With Disney®-themed entertainment offerings, age-specific activities for all and plentiful dining opportunities, our onboard Crew Members are committed to delivering an enjoyable vacation with great Guest service.

Should you have any questions, please feel free to contact us at 1-800-939-2784.

We trust you will have a terrific sailing.

Sincerely,

The Cast and Crew
Disney Cruise Line®

Tortola is so wonderful! We had the chance to go there 2 years ago on the Magic, and it is beautiful! It is a great port for a beach day!!!! We did the island tour with beach and lunch...perfect day! I'm on the Dream leaving Sunday...depending on where this storm goes, I am remaining flexible knowing our itinerary may change. We aren't getting off in Nassau any way, so it won't imoact us as long as we sail out and around any rain and bad weather. Now to prepare my home for a possible TS/hurricane if it changes course and heads toward central FL while we are away.

I don't mind the switch since I love St Maarten! But I haven't done a western and really wanted to see the turtles. :(

Safe travels! One good thing is that Halloween will be celebrated on Halloween instead of being switched around for formal night. :) I remember a couple threads discussing that.

I know my Dsis will be happy since now we will have the Prince And Princess formal night instead of just halloween.

Tortola is amazing. Consider doing the baths at Virgin Gorda.

I think you lucked out on this one...you got the best of the ports!

As you may be aware, Hurricane Rina is moving through the Western Caribbean and is currently predicted to be near Key West on Sunday. Due to the possible impact of this storm over the next few days in the Western Caribbean, we have modified the itinerary of the October 29, 2011, sailing of the Disney Magic to include ports of call a safe distance away from the storm.

The revised itinerary will be as follows:

Saturday – Port Canaveral
Sunday – Day at Sea (Formal Night)
Monday – Day at Sea (Halloween)
Tuesday – St. Maarten (Pirates IN the Caribbean)
Wednesday – Tortola
Thursday – Day at Sea (Semi-Formal Night)
Friday – Disney's Castaway Cay
Saturday – Port Canaveral
The safety and well-being of our guests and crew members is our highest priority, and we always monitor approaching weather systems closely and are prepared to alter our ship's courses and itineraries to navigate away from severe weather.

Guests currently booked on the October 29, 2011, sailing of the Disney Magic may call 1-800-939-2784 for more information.

The Disney Dream is currently sailing 3- and 4-night sailings in The Bahamas, away from the storm's projected path. Likewise, the Disney Wonder is sailing 7-night Mexican Riviera cruises from Los Angeles and is unaffected by this system.

Because of Rina the new itinerary is as follow:

Saturday - Port Canaveral
Sunday - Day at Sea
Monday - Day at Sea
Tuesday - St. Maarten
Wednesday Tortola
Thursday Day at Sea
Friday Disney Castaway Cay
Saturday Port Canaveral

Just received an email from Disney.

Worry free - Rina free

I don't know about anyone else but DH and I are thrilled. We always wanted to see Tortola

Sorry - I was so excitied I did not know a thread had been started. My bad.
I hope this is good news for everyone. I know DCL is making the best decision for the situation. We're just happy we can stop obsessing and getting up at 3am to watch the Weather Channel.

Our thoughts and prayers are with anyone who will be in the path.

I am a little bummed we will not be going to Key west, as there will be no chance for me to go in the foreseeable future. I hope the Fantasy will eventually be able to go there.
I just did an Eastern a month ago, but I do not mind the change much. I think the chance to go to Tortola is nice. It will be a nice cruse no matter what itinerary.

I'm actually really bummed. We were supposed to renew our vows in Key West and hubby really wanted to see the Mayan Ruins. Not sure what we're going to do now...

I am so jealous! I would love to go just for Tortola. What a great bonus! We have done 6 cruises during hurricane season and all but one was altered. It was fabulous each time. Enjoy your trip!

Oh, Tortola! LOVELY. Anyone like to shop?

There's a cute and picturesque craft Market - with roosters. Then walk down past the ferry dock and cross the street and the park to the folk museum.

After that (it's small) With your back to the folk museum turn left and walk up main street. There are some cute shops, bakery, art shop, a shop with a window full of glorious handbags, a book seller, and so forth.

Of course there are the usual jewelry shops, department stores and souvenir stands.

I'm excited I love Tortola they have my favorite spice shop. I will miss the excursions we had planned but I'm sure we will have fun.

We were on the 10/15 Western and due to weather the itinerary changed quite a bit and we did Costa Maya instead of Grand Cayman. While I was disappointed at missing the port, I am in awe of what a good job Disney did at keeping us away from rain so we could get the most from our cruise. Our Key West day moved as well. Had we gone as planned it would have been a rainy day and instead we had sunshine. The change of itinerary is brilliant and kudos to Disney for doing their best to make it a wonderful cruise. I feel I am disappointed by the weather but not disappointed with Disney. Hope you have a great cruise with calm seas and lots of sunshine!

This is somewhat of a bummer.....Months of onshore planning down the drain!! Now if i can only figure out the same for Tortolla and St. Maarten in 24 hours....arg! :confused3
