Well I got Palo's High Tea for Sunday, and Brunch for day 6 (Thursday) @ 10:30. Didn't sign up for any excursions, and wish I could get a cabana but Sean would kill me spending that much on thatOnly 3 cruises after this one and I'll be a platinum..woot woot
I shall live vicariously through your advanced ressie bliss. I have to wait another whole month before I can start doing anything fun on DCL!
Good news! Exactly how much are the cabanas?
This is also my 7th cruise and I already have #8 (SSMC Reunion cruise, 3/22/12, 5 day double dip on the Dream) and #9 (5 day Canada cruise on the Magic, 9/7/12). Maybe I can sneak in a 2 day NYC cruise to get me to 10![]()
Me too. I am doing the excursion research and waiting until out August date!!
Also trying to figure out what to use for a FE - that's my next project
Hey all. I haven't been on in a while, and as is obvious from my post count, I have posted much, either. That was intentional as my wife told me I'm not allowed to get all OCD about our Disney cruise too soon. She's afraid I'll get too excited and just zoom through Summer too fast hoping for the cruise to hurry up and get here. Can't say I blame her. I waited all Fall, Winter, and Spring for Summer to hurry up and get back. So, I need to slow down and enjoy it while it's here.
Anyway, I knew there was some deadline for signing up for the FE list. So my wife gave me permission to check in with y'all solely to sign up. Of course, I'm also going to peek through all the posts I've missed while I'm here! We want to participate in the FE exchange. However, I noticed on the front post that you're supposed to PM minnieandmickey with your cruise info. Unfortunately, I don't have enough posts to PM. Plus, we don't have a cabin assignment yet. I think we have some sort of guaranteed cabin assignment or level or whatever that will be provided at embarkation. So, how do I sign up for FE without a cabin number? BTW, how have any of you already received your cabin numbers? Is that something special for repeat cruisers?
Also, I'm still interested in setting up a stargazing night during the cruise. I've been in email communications with DCL guest relations to get particulars on what is allowed on the ship and what, if anything, they can do to possibly enhance our stargazing activities. I asked about areas of the ship that might be best suited for stargazing and also if there was any potential for them to switch off lights in a designated area just for stargazing. I also asked if they would allow the use of a green laser pointer (GLP) for pointing out celestial objects during the stargazing.
Unfortunately, they didn't provide any recommendations for areas of the ship that would be best for stargazing. They did contact an officer on the Magic to ask about ship lighting. However, the only response I could get out of them was that ship lighting remains on all night for the safety of their guests and for other vessels to see them. The problem I'm having with DCL is that no matter how I phrase the question, they seem to think that I'm asking them to turn off all the ship lighting during the night. That's not what I meant at all. I was asking if there was any small, designated area of the ship where they could dim or turn off nonessential lighting just for the duration of the stargazing activity. But, like I said, they seem think that I want all the ship lights turned off all night long. So their only response is, "No!"
As for the GLP, after consulting with officers of the Magic, DCL said they would allow the responsible use of GLPs during stargazing. This is a good thing as it is so much easier to point out objects in the sky using a laser rather than just pointing with your finger. I will be bringing my GLP for this purpose. We use them extensively for the sidewalk astronomy and public outreach events that my astronomy group hosts.
However, I would strongly ask that if anyone else intends to bring a GLP for stargazing, please make absolutely certain it is used responsibly. GLPs are great tools, but they are not toys. Government agencies already hold disdain for GLPs because of irresponsible idiots who like to "tag" airplanes, helicopters, police vehicles, and other non-astronomy targets because they think it's funny. Many municipalities are considering bans on such devices. I would be very sad to lose the use of a wonderful tool for astronomy because of the negligent behavior of others.
Okay, I'm off my soapbox. So, if anyone else is interested in putting together a stargazing hook-up for one of the nights, I suppose we should start discussing specifics in the next couple of months. Thanks, and I can't wait to meet fellow Parleyers in October!
Just checking in again. Just returned from our two week summer vacation in the Rockies, so this cruise is now front and center
15 weeks
We will likely join you for the "meet" on departure morning - even though we won't get until the Radisson until quite late the night before. We have actually done this on our past two cruises out of Canaveral on those "other" lines.
So glad all you Platinums and Golds got the ressies you wanted. I'm sure they'll be some left over for us Silvers in a couple weeks.![]()
Steve, We'll be at the "Welcome Home" site bright and early....well, maybe not so bright, but it will be early.I'm hoping those of us that are staying at the Radisson will be hanging around the pool so just look around and join us when you can on Friday night.

Cabana's are $500![]()
Looks like there's plenty left Nancy - even high tea!
Have fun! We'll be all tucked in at the Boardwalk![]()
Just in case you change your mind or win the lottery Becky, there are still 5 cabanas available on the family beach and 2 at Serenity Bay (a real bargain at only $399!).
For $499, they better come with a cabana boy that looks like Eric from True Blood!![]()

Did anyone try to check-in before 3AM? (I wasn't able to drag myself to the computer until 5AM, so I'm just curious if it could be done earlier.)
Do think if I make a clip art design for her, she'll come back?![]()
