We just found out that my Mom & Dad will be joining us on this cruise! :grouphug: Tink is thrilled, as are we!

B/T/W Avis, Hertz and Budget all have locations near the port and shuttles to and from the ship.

It relatively in expensive to pick up a car at the airport and drive it out to the port. We ended up keeping the car until the next morning, dropped people & bags at the port, took it back to Avis and took their shuttle back to the ship. By the time we got back to the ship it was time to head into the terminal and our bags had already been checked. :yay:

YIKES!!!! :scared1: Sorry for the wrong info. We actually stayed at the Residence Inn Cape Canaveral not the Country Inn. I edited my previous post and will let Karen know I goofed. :goodvibes

you're right!! it was the residence inn!! i dont know why i always get those 2 places mixed up. (Underdogs not the brightest Dawg in the kennel););)

I believe she does but you'd better watch out for my Dad :rolleyes1

This sounds awsome, which every way you work it out we are in. Love the idea. We have never done a crusie before.

Just let us know what you need from us, and what we need to do.

Hey Guys,
I've gotten a couple of PM's giving other ideas about FE exchange. One is doing maybe smaller groups, or even by deck level. I'm thinking that we will stay with the secret cabin parley idea and then if you want to go that extra mile and give and FE to everyone on the thread I can make up a list of people and cabins by deck. I think with luggage restrictions we will have more participants doing the Secret Cabin vs an all out FE exchange.
Cut off date of July 31, 2011, and I will have all info to those participating in the SCP on Aug. 15, 2011, have total amount of cabins for those who want to do the FE exchange then as well. FE lists can be pm'd or emailed on Oct 1st, and hopefully a final cabin list by then.

Thanks for the clarification. So it sounds like we shouldn't look into the Country Inn then.

As for the Marriott, I was out to their site yesterday and only saw the Residence Inn and a Courtyard in the Cape Canaveral area. Is there a Marriott there or was it one of the sister hotels? We love the Marriott part of the line and would prefer there is possible. Also do you remember if they had a shuttle? Thanks.

Welcome to your Mom and Dad.

Thanks for the info on the rental cars. Does anyone have opinions on the ones listed? Is one better than the others?

If you're renting at the airport to head to the port, all 3 are located in the terminal parking lot for easy pickup. I would go with whichever is the cheapest Hertz is usually the most expensive but they have the coolest cars.

If you're planning to pick up a car and drive back to the World: we rented from Avis last October. We had no problems dropping off the car when we left for the cruise, but returning to the port, we waited almost an hour for the Avis shuttle. Budget came at least 3 times in that span and Hertz at least twice. I don't know if this is a regular occurrence. Also, Avis at the port doesn't seem to have a big selection of cars, especially if you need a big one.

We used Budget twice but got tired of getting ripped off on the bill when we went to pick up a car after the cruise. Happened to us twice so we switched to Avis. We were on a shuttle back to their location after the cruise pretty quickly although we really don't know if the shuttles were few and far between either. One pulled up as we got to the curb. Picking up a car again was painless and no rip off on the price!:thumbsup2 We'll go with Avis again this year. But, Kathy is correct, they don't have a huge selection of large cars in Cape Canaveral.

You'll not sail with a greater group of people than these guys.

Hi folks

Sorry for gate crashing your thread but I've finally started planning for our hol and I need your help...

Which hotel do you all use by the port and roughly what was the cost? We're going to be there 2 nights so preferably somewhere with a nice pool and close to somewhere nice to eat (thats not fishy:crazy2:)

We fancied the Ron Jon but dont seem to be able to get a quote online:confused3- is it being refurbed or something? We need Oct 14-16 so any ideas are welcome.

thank you.. I miss you guys:grouphug:

Karen, I just checked with Ron Jon, since that was the hotel that I was leaning toward. They say they will be open and they are releasing those dates today. There is an AWESOME video posted on their facebook page that shows a cruise ship passing by the hotel while the Shuttle is launching. I'll PM you just in case you don't see this posting.
