We braved LA traffic, and made it to the event on Thursday night. There are plenty of full trip reports out there, so I wanted to post our observations and tips from Thursday night.
1. GET THERE EARLY!!! We left Port Hueneme at 3:45, and because of (insert your explecitive of choice now) traffic, we made it into the event just shy of 8 pm!!!! That hour and a half we missed was really wasted, as we were only able to make it through Hollywood, Bugs Land, and then made a mad dash towards Screamin' for the men as the Goodnight Music started from the Hub. (I liked that they played it over all of the park for those of us not headed toward the Hub!)
2.Who thought sticky candy was the way to go? I feel so so sorry for the CMs who had to wipe everything down afterwards! I'd say a good half of our candy was Laffy Taffy and Now n Laters. Our little JoJo costume is going to need quite the scrubbing before the 31st!!! So pick out the candy you don't want your kids to have, and bring plenty of baby wipes.
Also, grab an extra bag for trash. Please do your part. DCA looked rather like Six Flags, with candy wrappers as far as the eye could see!
Ride Observations: From the rides we did go on that night, here is what I observed a little different:
Monsters Inc. At the end, the Roz AA said" Oh how clever...dressing up as children for Halloween! (I don't know if that is new, but I thought it was cute!
Tower of Terror My DH had to remove his mask. He was told that if not, the picture would be deleted. (don't know why that was!
Fliks Fun Fair WE couldn't belive it- there was actually a line for the Chew-Chew train! Usually all of the rides back there are walk-ons when we go, it was suprising to see a line!
Screamin' I don't like to complin about one-time incidents on the boards, as it seems there alot of "what a bad time we had because..."posted everywhere, but my DH was so mad, he told me to make sure everyone knew...
He was on the second to last train on Screamin' for the night, and there were only 5 people getting on the last train, so him, hisa buddy and a few other guys asked if they could ride once more (it was going out anyway.) and the CM told them no, made them get off...and then ran the train with only 5 people for the last ride. Its hard enough to drag the man to Disneyland with me, and so I hated that the last thing he rememebers about the night was someone being so rude!!!
That aside, we had a great time. The kids loved the projections on the ground, and mine were not the only ones. Kids were chasing thise things around in circles everywhere! (Except my DD was scared of the spider ones, she would run around them!)
And I figured out the key to a good parking spot- we left the car top carrier on our van, and we got to park on the ground. It rocked! We just walked strait to the trams! I don't think I'll ever take that thing off now.
So thats my 2 cents on the night, I'll add photos as soon as I get them uploaded!
