Cast of characters-
Me- 34 year old lover of everything and anything that is Disney. Would live and work at Disney if given the chance!!
DH39- Puts up with my obsession with Disney. Has learned that it does no good to fight it. Can talk like Goofy and has been known to act like him at time!!
DS8- Loves Disney almost as much as his mom! Told us on this trip that he wants to be a vet and work at Animal Kingdom!
Okay, has anyone ever noticed that when you are on vacation it is soooo much easier to get up and going. That is what it is like for me when I am on vacation. I am up and ready to get going before the alarm even goes off. DS and DH on the other hand can sleep thru anything. Come on guys! Don't you realize there are better things to do than sleep?!?!
After waking the boys up, I take a quick shower and am ready to go. I look at them and realize they are moving slower than the turtles in the lake. So I go into my drill instructor mode! Come on guys!! Move it! We have a schedule to keep and that does not include sleeping! Finally the guys manage to get dressed and we walk out the door and head to the food court. Actually in my case, walking very fast is more like it!LOL! We finally get to the food court and then we decide to have a sit down breakfast at Boatwrights. Let me just say that if you have never eaten here you have to try it at least once!! The portions are huge!! I ordered the Banana Stuffed french toast. I took one look at it and knew I wouldn't be able to eat it all. One reason is that they give you enough to feel 2 people. Another reason I had to have the strawberries and cream. I think I gained 10 pounds from this breakfast alone!! It was sooo good.
Okay, after stuffing ourselves silly we head to the bus stop. Not too many people. Was never able to figure out the bus route. Sometimes it would head to the South depot by the lobby first. Sometimes, it would go to the east depot first. Who knows how it worked. LOL!!
Finally we are on the bus headed to MGM. Even after stopping for breakfast we managed to make it before opening!! We arrived and the first ride we do is The Great Movie Ride. This is a favorite of my family. It was a virtual walk on. Then we head over to Star Tours. Another walk on. I am really starting to like this. Then we head to Muppet Vision. After a short wait in the preshow area we head inside. This show always brings back memories from when I was growing up. Can anyone else remember watching the muppets on tv when they were a kid? In the original showing not in re-runs? It is a great show and should not be missed.
Then we head over to the backlot tour. I know this is an older show, I still love it just the same. There was no wait and we were inside and watching the water tank scene. Does anyone else think that Disney is missing an opportunity here? I mean they could videotape the whole scene and sell it to people for $5 and they would have a cool souveiner of them being in the show. Just my opinion, maybe it is the businesswoman in me shining thru!! LOL!!
The we head over to the Lights, Action, Motor Cars. Okay, maybe it was just me but I didn't find this show all that impressive. It was okay for what it was, but for me it wasn't that impressive. That being said however, DH and DS loved it!! I guess it is a guy thing. Oh well!! Then we head over to eat lunch at Pizza Planet. I know the food it kind of so-so, but DH and DS love it. Who can complain? So after we refuel we are off to do Rock-N-Roller Coaster. I must say, even though I am not a huge roller coaster fan, I do like this ride. It was a short wait. Maybe 10 minutes at the most. We did this ride 2 times in a row. DS proclaimed this to be his favorite ride. That being said he will not go on Tower of Terror. Mommy doesn't like it either so daddy was on his own.
After that we head over to Who Wants to be a Millionaire. I love this show. I even made it into the hot seat once. Not on this trip though. I think my brain was left back home!! LOL!! so after this we decide to head back to the hotel to get ready for the MNSSHP that night. Plus DS had some more classwork to do. Nothing motivates an 8 year old to do homework like the promise of Disney Dollars. We made a deal that for every subject he completed he would get some money. Never saw a kid do his classwork faster. LOL!!
So we shower and change and get DS into his halloween costume. He decided to go as Darth Vader. Mommy was Leia and Daddy was Luke. So we head off to the bus for the Magic Kingdom. We got there at 4:30 and we got in line at the entrance for the MNSSHP. After a short wait we were inside. We walked around for a few minutes and DS announced that he just had to go on Stitch. Okay, we had never done that one before. So we decided to give it a try. Let me tell you I didn't like that on at all. If DS wants to do it again DH can go with him.
They then proceeded to herd all the rest of the Magic Kingdom guests out of the park. They told us that the party was starting over in Frontierland. Which is on the opposite side of where we were. So, we trek our bodies over to there and ride BTMRR. I love this ride more and more everytime I ride it. Well, afterward we discover that they are handing out candy. So, we go down the trail and they give DS some candy. We are holding back and a Cast member tells us that we need some candy too. So he proceeds to gives us some. The rest of the night went pretty much the same. We went to all the candy stops and filled our bags. Then we rode all of the rides. They were pretty much all walk ons. It was very nice. The only ride we weren't able to do that night was Space Mountain. It was closed. We went on TTA and saw that the lights were. We all agreed that it was very cool seeing Space Mountain lit up inside.
Well, at about 11 p.m. DS starts getting cranky. So we decide to head out. We no sooner arrive at the bus stop that DS announces that he has to go to the bathroom. Okay, normally we would have walked back and went, but he waited until the last possible moment and the bus was coming. I told him that he could hold it for a few minutes. Then I see a puddle forming. Oh gosh! We get back to the hotel and get him showered and changed and then we hit the sack.
