I just read the Disney Rewards Card details. A !% reward on purchases!? Lets see I only have to do $42,500 worth of business to get my first Premium Annual Pass . I cant wait for My trip in 2013!! LOL There is double and triple points if you book the high price WDTC packages.

Is anyone else disappointed with these so called REWARDS???

1% is better than some cashback cards and at least as good as most. The fact that this is a brand-related card would make you think that it should at least offer double or triple rewards points for brand-related purchases like at TDS, Disneystore.com or WDTC). The fact that they do not openly state this but only hint at opportunities for this is very disappointing.

I didn't see anything on the website site that mentions how many Disney Rewards Dollars are needed to purchase a PAP or the double and triple points for booking "high-price WDTC packages". I did see something about getting 6 months interest free and a $50 onboard credit for booking and paying for a Disney cruise with the card. Could you give us a link to the page where you got your information so that we can get a look at what other rewards are offered?

I'm still mulling this one over only because I'm dropping my USAirways VISA and I'm in the market for a new rewards card. I'd like to see special discounts and offers for cardholders (similar to what AmEx had) as well as some sampling of possible rewards. The details are just way too vague right now.

And I agree. I'm a little less than thrilled with what they are offering.

I think I must be the only person on this board who didn't sign up for this card?? I got the email to sign up for the card, but I didn't think 1% was enough of an incentive to make me want to get this card...especially since I already have a Credit card anyway...but that is just my opinion! ;)

This was a redirect from the old Disney Club site to First USA

Thanks. That's also the link that I have but I still don't see anywhere that it specifically states that you can buy a PAP using 425 Disney Dream Rewards Dollars or that the only way to get double of triple points is to book an expensive package from WDTC. When I click on the links on that page, this is all that I get:

I didn't ... Actually, I couldn't sign up because I'm from Canada :( It doesn't look like there are any plans to offer the card to us either... 1% is pretty low but I thought the card was free (ie. no annual fee)? I know of some cards where you have to pay to get the 1% but it will take a while to get any kind of reward. Maybe if the sign up is low, they'll think of offering us other options.

Sorry, didn't we already have this discussion about 1% being "low" to some.

I just got my LLBean Visa year-end report in the mail today (for which I get .5% on regular purchases and 3% on LLBean purchases--rewards are in the form of $10 coupons to be used at LLBean). We charge everything on this card--groceries, gas, dining out, clothing, etc. And then pay it off every month. We charged ~$15,200 last year. Yikes, it adds up! Which means I got about $80 in LLBean clothes for free (not to mention the free shipping). But we're switching to the Disney Visa, at least until we see how things go--provided we're accepted. So the one percent of the $12,000 to $15,000 we seem to charge each year will add up to some pretty nice Disney Reward dollars. Just can't wait to see how those can be redeemed.

I haven't had the Disney Club membership for years, so I don't miss those benefits. We just don't shop at the Disney Store that much (pretty much only when we're at WDW), so extra incentives on Disney merchandise aren't a big thing to us. My brother is a DVC member, so now we get a few discounts on dining when we're at WDW.

I know it's not for everyone, but we're going to give the Disney Visa a try. Guess I wasn't expecting as much as some....

I don't think the 1% us that bad. Yeah you can find some cash back cards that go higher than 1% but they are usually scaled up such that the first $2,000 - 5,000 or so you earn .5% then on the next $5,000 - 10,000 you earn .75% and so on. So even though they might say up to 2% cash back when you figure it out over the whole purchase it's 1%- 1.5% if you do a lot of charging and could even be less than 1% if you don't charge that much. I'll compare it to my current United VISA, 1 mile for every dollar. It takes 25,000 miles for a roundtrip ticket in the US. Figure if you shop around you can pretty much fly anywhere you want for $300 - $350 max and for most of my trips to DW I pay around $200. So lets say $300 for a ticket, now I pay $60/yr to have the card. So if I spend $25,000 I get one free ticket valued at $300 minus the $60 annual fee equals a $240 perk. On the same $25,000 dollars on a Disney card I would earn 1% or $250. About the same. I've already applied.

hehehe

Yes, 1% rewards is a miserable amount but the worst of it all is that the rewards are caped at $750! meaning, when you charge your $75,000 a year:rolleyes:, all you'll get is $750. Seems like you'll get more points when you book cruises and packages. Blow thousands of dollars to get under $10.00!

I have the LLBean Visa platinum and get $1.00 on each purchase plus $2 for purchases at LLBean. I just received their catalog today, they have several items getting double points this month. But my favorite card and the best out there in the market has to be Delta Skymiles. I have the gold card and get nice rewards in tons of places...

Sure, there are other cards giving you a miserable 1%... Sure, it is typical. So, does that justify Disney's display of inadequacy? who cares about how measly other rewards are, we expected better and just because other programs are just as crappy is no reason to accept derrogatory rewards.
I mean, come on, isn't Disney magical enough to not be part of a common whole? At least, that is what I thought they wanted me to perceive them, as...

But like I said once.. What stops you from giving it like you take it? If all you want is a "day 1" Disney card and a pin, get them! And then use your best rewards card instead. They thought our brains and wallets would worship that offer so we can show them what we think their card is really good for ;)
