If you are 1 point short on booking a room that you want, can you pay for that 1 point when making the reservation? Or do I have to purchase (or borrow) from others? What would be the best way to handle this situation? Any advise would be welcomed.

When making the reservation, tell MS that you want to borrow the 1 point from your next Use Year.

You only get one transfer per Use Year, either into or out of your account. It's unlikely you would find anyone willing to use up their single transfer to transfer one point to you, unless you are willing to pay big bucks for that one point!

If you can't get anyone to transfer one point or don't have or want to borrow, how about cancelling one night and seeing if you can get a cash night?

You cannot pay cash for a single point, but you can pay cash for a single day.... ask if a cash inventory day is available during you're stay... if so. then you can work this out.

If all else fails... you can have a single point transferred... IF you can find a member willing to give up that single transfer privelige for one point.... then call him/her your hero...

When we purchased our resale contract we had 3 points that we were not going to use that expired in Sept 07, If someone needed 3 points I would have given it to them since our first trip home is coming up in 2 weeks.
Maybe someone in the same situation that we had can help you, The 3 points were from 2005 so we couldn't do anything with them.
Good luck!

Don't think you can transfer banked points.

I'm understanding the OP to say that they've used all their "usable" points (banked-current-borrow) already and are still 1 point short for the last night....I may be mistaken, though.:confused3

I assumed the same thing -- absolutely no more points available, in which case I think Deb & Bill's suggestion is the most viable.

Agree with this, though the OP makes no mention of being out of borrowing options. Either way, the question has been well answered!

Very true and the OP appears to be a newbie and may not be aware that borrowing from the next UY is an option.

Thank you all for the help. I have no more points to borrow. It looks like the best option is to pay cash for one night or get smaller room. Again, thank you all for the help.

You could call Disney and purchase a 25 or 50 point add on, if you see that this is going to be a problem in years to come. At 50 points they finance. I would pay cash for a Fri or Sat if that is a option.

Yep... probably you're best bet is paying cash for a day. It looks like also that you may need to add on some more points.... You're addicted... Like us....

If you try to get a cash night through MS, be sure and ask if a Member's Discount is available. Not every Advisor will volunteer that info, and with all the newbie Advisors, I wouldn't risk it. You can save 25% of the rack!

well, depending on when you are ging, I would do it if I can transfer bonus points since I have 3 left over that will just go to waste. I know I won't need the transfer again this year. I have already banked my points and as of coming January, will have spent them all!!

I don't think the incentive points can be transfered.
