1 GIG memory card question?

I have 2 1 gig mem. cards for my digital camera. The question I have, Is there a reason why they hold a diffrent amount of pictures? The one got with the camera holds 330-600 pictures depending on the setting. The one i bought on sale from Circit City only holds 290 pics in the same settings??? Anyone have any idea why or have any of you ran into this. My simple mind tells me they should hold the same amount seeing how there the same size cards.. .....But thats just my simple mind

Try formatting the card with the low count. It's recommended that you format the cards every so often to keep all things clean and in top working order. I format mine about every third time moving pictures.

Make sure you have no pictures on it that you need to keep though.....

Never even used the card, it does not and has not ever had any pic's on it? What do I need to do to format it? Thanks for the help

formatting in-camera makes sure that the card is properly set up with the right clusters, etc. and it also makes sure there are no deleted (but not completely removed from the FAT table) files.

what brand is your new card?

if you format both cards and then put them in the camera without changing settings, is there now a difference?
