1:30am and my Ear is killing me!

So I went to the Dr's yesterday for my ear infection. He said I have what they call Swimmer's Ear! He gave me drops and said I should feel better in a few days! Let me tell you the pain is very bad tonight. So bad that I can not even sleep. I just took some pain meds. hoping they kick in soon!

Has anyone ever had swimmer's ear? How long to clear?

OUCH!! I've had that and decided I must be a big wimp because I was crying and my kids have had them many times and although uncomfortable, never throwing a fit, like me

Lay on a heating pad. It will help with the pain, I promise. Put a towel between your ear and pad if yours is high power.

Not from swimming, so it must be from the shower.

That's how I got it too. When I get out of the pool, I always remember to get the water out of my ears, but I didn't think about it in the shower. Do the heating pad thing like they suggested, it does help a lot. Feel better!

Definitely try the heating pad suggestion!
Also, it sounds odd, but you can aim your blowdryer
slightly towards your ear, (keeping it far enough away
that you don't feel like you're burning your skin!),
and a minute or two of the warm air going in and by your ear
may alleviate the pain for a while.
I really sympathize with you - there's not much worse than ear or tooth pain!
