Thursday, Day 6

A day at sea - ahhh. Slept in a little later today and the kids really slept in! I was afraid they were going to miss breakfast at Topsiders. Another great thing about connecting staterooms was that with all the different bedtimes and waking times, DH and I didn’t have to worry about waking up the kids in the morning. In fact, he and I sat on the verandah for awhile this morning and then went and got breakfast together. It was nice to find a table at Topsiders off in a corner and just enjoy hanging out together! When we returned to the stateroom, we decided we’d better wake the kids so they didn’t miss the day!

The weather is changing - getting cooler which I'm just in denial about. DH spent a good part of the morning on those comfy chairs Deck 4 reading some Magellan tome! He could do anything he wanted after our “shopping trip.” I even bought him a tweezers at the shops so he could extract all those urchin spines. He won't let anyone touch them!

The ship was really buzzing with activity today - lots of people at Shutters, bigger lines for autographs and at Guest Services. ANd the rebooking queen was always busy! I took care of my tips today at Guest Services and chatted with rebooking to get pricing and info. I spent some time up on Deck 10 but it’s always so windy up there. Like my verandah much better - more protected I guess - and much quieter.

The ship was really rocking and rolling today - the first time all week. Glad I took my Bonine this morning. DD and I went to Topsiders for the seafood buffet - lots of shrimp and crab claws. I hit Shutters and decided we would try again tonight to get a family portrait. It was semi-formal and figured we’d be dressed up. Though DH was not allowed to wear those clown pants!

I had a spa appointment in the afternoon - the LT Oxygen Lifting Facial. It was an interesting experience but I have nothing to compare it to since this was my first facial. I will say it was very relaxing, though as I mentioned earlier, the ship was really rolling so my technician had to steady herself a couple of times. Before she started, she asked me what I wanted to improve. I almost burst out laughing. But I regained my composure and said I’d like to look, you know, fresher! SHe did her magic with all the potions and 55 minutes later, she handed me a mirror. Breathlessly, she asked, “what do you think?” Again with the laughter outburst (hold back, hold back) I must say I looked exactly the same but I smiled politely and oohed and aahed. SHe tried to sell me about $200 worth of products but I gently declined. Upon return to the room, no one noticed the new face either so I just went out on my verandah and watched the ocean rock and roll show.

The family dressed for semi-formal night and I think we were all a bit more relaxed than on formal night. We tried a different background tonight and ended up liking it much better (we bought 2 8x10s!) Dinner tonight was the Captain’s Gala - lobster tail! I also had grilled shrimp salad, wild forest mushroom soup, green beans and rice. Others at the table had fettucinni with seared sea scallops and grilled beef tenderloin - all with good reviews. The warm chocolate lava cake at dessert was a huge success!

We strolled around after dinner while the kids looked for autographs and pin traders. Deck 4 was feeling kind of chilly so we decided to hang out at the Promenade Lounge and listen to “Escape”, the musical duo that entertained most nights. The ship seemed really busy tonight - Shutters was packed, long lines at Guest Services, etc. We went to Disney Dreams at 8:30 and it was my favorite show of the week. Yes, I teared up at the end. It’s a must-see show! The theater was really rocky tonight and the performers pulled off the show perfectly. Climbing those stairs in the theater after the show was a challenge! Everyone looked as though they’d had one too many Bahama Mamas...

DH and I enjoyed a little time on the verandah, though it felt much cooler. We were starting to worry that we would not be able to dock at CC and with everything we’d heard about it, we sure did not want to miss it. Packed up our day bag for the morning so we’d be ready to enjoy every minute. The boat definitely rocked us to sleep tonight!
