Gonna try my hand at writing one of these. Made the final payment today, so I know for sure the trip is happening.

This is a big trip for me, it is a combo of my 33rd birthday, honeymoon, and first ever trip to anything Disney. It was kind of a last minute, flight of the bumble bee, decision, but it all worked out well.

See, I just started a new job last March. Not only was I not sure of how much vacation I was going to have, I wasn't sure of when I was going to be able to take it. My new job is a union job and they bid on the vacation, since I was the last man in the door, I was the last man to bid. I found out when my vacation was going to be the last week of December 2015. Fortunately it was the week I was hoping for, but I had to wait to find out because you can't plan a vacation on hopes.

It wasn't just a vacation though, it was a honeymoon. And as I am sure you guys know, there has to be a wedding before there can be a honeymoon. So, at the end of December, we started planning the wedding and honeymoon (yeah, I know, talk about a lot of planning in a short amount of time).

Well, the original plan was to go to Dollywood, I love Miss Dolly :D But on new years eve, I watched the Disney NYE parade and all of the sudden I did not want to go to Dollywood any more. The next morning I brought up Disney World to my fiancee. I thought she would be mad, she already had the whole Dollywood vacation planned, it even included a meet and greet with Paula Deen (you butter believe it). She loves Paula Deen and I was almost positive she was not going to turn down the chance to meet her.

Boy was I wrong, the second I mentioned Disney to her, she looked at me with the happiest look I have ever seen and said "really! please tell me you're not joking!?"

We instantly started planning our Disney honeymoon on new years day. She wanted to stay at CBR, which took some convincing for me because I wanted to stay at PO in a royal room. (I wanted to steal the pillow, it has my trumpet playing alligator on it. I love that gator!)

After we decided on the resort, we decided to go ahead and fork out the money on park hopper, memory maker, and the regular dining package (which might get upgraded to the deluxe). I know there's a lot of see sawing on whether or not these things are worth your money but it's our honeymoon, we did not want to have to worry about anything once we got to Disney.

And then I got to the payment screen...

We had to perform CPR on my wallet, and I am pretty sure the little guy went into a coma because it took about a week before I ever made the first payment. I was unaware of the $200 down and pay the rest off with in 30 days of your vacation thing that Disney has going on.

By this time I had found the DIS and one of the members had informed me that I was able to put the $200 down in order to reserve my trip. So, I logged on the next day to make a payment and low and behold, they had released a spring special, there was almost a $900 difference in my original price and what I was going to be paying now. I was so happy my wallet had that medical emergency because if it hadn't, I might of ended up paying more money than I did.

We put the $200 down and then started planning out the wedding. Then we realized we were having more fun planning out Disney, and went back to planning out Disney.

A few speed bumps in the road, mainly involving the IRS and their made up system of taxes, made me think I was not going to be able to get the money needed to pay off the trip. But in true Marine fashion, I had multiple plans... because face it, plan A, plan B, and plan C never work. You eventually end up at plan ZZ.

In the few weeks we've had in 2016 I have put in 100 plus hours overtime, picked up a second job driving school buses, and continued to repair people's cars on the side. Put every penny I could together and finally got enough money to pay off the trip. Called a couple of weeks ago and paid $2500 of the trip (my poor wallet is still a little woozy from this one) but was unable to pay the other $245 thanks to an unexpected trip to the ER.

Well believe it or not, that ER trip helped me. I have good insurance through work so all I had to pay was $250 for everything, I also have the Duck. I filed my claim with the Duck and received my benefit check today, a nice $1700. So I ran out to the bank, deposited it, hopped on line and paid my other $245.

So here we are, trip is completely paid for, I'm finally going to get to live out my childhood dream of going to Disney. And to top it all off, I get to marry my best friend.

That unexpected trip to the ER has thrown an unexpected surgery in my plans, I go in on the 8th, hopefully the healing will go quickly afterwards. The good news is, if the Duck pays out like they did before, I get to upgrade to the deluxe dining plan :D
