I am not sure where you might find one that height. My suggestion is to get a 7.5 anyway. We always had shorter trees and put the stand on a box. This would give us more room under the tree and especially once the gifts were there, nobody was any wiser about it. Our large tree skirt covered the box also and nobody had to fight with the low branches.

Whatever you do, I am sure it will be awesome! Good luck!!

Good suggestion. We might have to do just that. Although Debbie found one for me that is within our budget. I will just have to see. Thanks so much.:cool1:

The NY D2D event is today... I am on my way to get my first DVC ornament!!!!:yay:

I will be back on once I get home. Have a fantastic morning :woohoo:

Terrie and Wally, I am so sorry for your loss. I just logged on. You guys are in my prayers..

Wow, that D2D event was fun! I got my DVC ornament for the tree :yay::yay:

I did not want to leave. After the presentation we walked into the "food" room and right there in front of me was a huge model of the dream! :faint: Can you say drool? I was sooooo excited. :hyper: I took a couple of pictures, including what I think is going to be my veranda LOL. I got home and remembered I have a video cam on my cell phone so I will be going back to get more pix and video next weekend I think.

I made it public that I was going on the SSMC but nobody else spoke up so... :confused3

They have one of those models at the Chicago D2D and it is sooooo cool!!! I couldn't take enough pictures of it! The CM's probably thought I had lost my mind!

You're lucky none of those DVCers were disgruntled members after not being able to book the members cruise. They might have not been so friendly after your public announcement! :lmao: But, seriously, I'm surprised none of them are going on the cruise. :confused3 That's ok....I'm SUPER excited to meet all of you, AND see everyone from the 2010 cruise again.

Wow, I did not even think about the disgruntled members... I could have really had fun with THEM.

I could have said rather loudly "you know, the funny thing is that I did not even realize it was booking that day. I woke up at 10 am and had a question, when I called they answered the phone right away but said they could not help me because it was SSMC booking only. So I figured, ah, what the heck and booked a room..." :rolleyes1

Of course, then I would be in traction instead of cruising so maybe it is better that I was blind to the facts. :rotfl2:

TERRIE IM VERY SORRY FOR YOUR LOSS. WE HAVE ALWAYS HAD DOGS AND CATS. I KNOW HOW YOU FEEL THEY ARE YOUR BEST FRIEND, YOUR LOVED ONE. I DREAD THE DAY WHEN THE DAY COMES WE HAVE TO PART. ID REALLY MISS SIERRA(dufus). OUR BLACK 8 YEAR OLD LAB.

Terrie I am so sorry for your loss. I know how difficult this time is for you and how sad you are feeling. We lost our first lab to osteosarcoma. We felt our world had bottomed out the day we received that diagnosis. She was our beloved family member and it was extremely difficult. We were able to have 10 more months with her before she passed away. Never once did she show discomfort to us. Our dogs mean so much to us. You will be in my thoughts today. So sorry for your loss.

Terrie and Wally,
I am very sorry for your loss. Losing a member of your family is devastating, especially at this time of year. I am glad that you got to spend the whole day with her before she died. I know that there is nothing I can say to make it less painful. Please know that my thoughts are with you.
Sue

Terrie and Wally, I am so so sorry for your terrible loss. I am typing through tears right now just reading your sad post, Terrie. I hope you are both finding some comfort in your memories of Ophelia as well as pictures. It is a sad and heart-breaking thing to lose a pet and I feel for you. Ophelia was very lucky to have such great parents and I am sure she enjoyed her time here on Earth!! Hang in there and take care. Again, so sorry for your loss. I will be thinking of you both.

Kelly:hug:

:sad1: Terrie, I am so very sorry for your loss. Losing a dog is such a difficult thing. I still miss my Derby, we were fortunate to have shared 14 years with her. Rejoice in your memories and know she loved you.

Terrie - I am so sorry for your loss. I understand the pain...I cried for three days straight when my dog, Dodger, left us for doggie Heaven. Ophelia was blessed to have such wonderful loving parents as you and Wally. This year has left me wondering how such horrible things can happen on a holiday we call "THANKSGIVING". Someone I knew in high school lost her mom on Thanksgiving, two friends of mine (sisters) lost their grandma on Thanksgiving, and I THINK my aunt's husband's mom passed away on Thanksgiving (still haven't heard for certain, but they rushed her to the hospital because she passed out and was unresponsive). But, my aunt is like that...she tends not to tell the family important things and we could go MONTHS without hearing from her.

Anyway, I just thought you should know you're not alone in having such a tragic loss this Thanksgiving weekend. And I hope that once the tears stop falling you can smile and remember the rooftop tennis games with a laugh.

So sorry Terri and Wally. This is such a difficult time for you. She was a family member not a mere dog. Take comfort in your memories.

Terrie and Wally, I am so sorry for your loss. I just logged on. You guys are in my prayers..

Thank you everyone for your kind words, thoughts & prayers. :grouphug:

For me two more sleeps would just be one more. I am too excited to sleep that last night before we leave. We always take the earliest flight to Orlando and have to get up by 4am to leave anyway, so it works out ok without sleep. Have a great trip.:thumbsup2

Have a wonderful time @ Disney.

Hello All! I have not forgotten about all of you. I will be posting the countdown later. I wanted to catch up on the posts first. I am glad that you all have not been a chatty bunch.

It seems like for the most part everyone had a Happy Thanksgiving and some got some good Black Friday deals. We spent our Thanksgiving with my folks. We had a wonderful time and it was good seeing them. However, DH's Granny passed away on Thanksgiving. DH took it well. She had been sick and stopped eating almost two weeks ago. We are thankful that she is not in pain anymore. We will be heading to the funeral this week. She lived a long life. She will definitely be missed.

Happy belated birthday Wally!

Terrie & Wally, I am sorry about your loss. You are in my thoughts.
I little known fact...

Deb hates when we only post smilies!
Debbie is not the only one. I hate it too. ;)

Good evening all!

I had planned to take the DCL bus from AKV to the port. After looking at some threads I noticed that the bus arrives between 1 and 3 pm. I had really hoped to get there on the earlier side so I could explore the terminal and get an early boarding so I could also wander the boat a bit. (and maybe get a cocktail or two after my lunch) ;)

Other than taking an obscenely early ME bus to the airport and then catching the DCL, is the only other option a rental/car service? If that is the choice, can anyone tell me about how expensive it would be to rent a car the night before and including tolls, drive to the port instead? I know I could do research on the various car rental agencies, cross reference my eligibility for discounts then map the route and investigate the tolls to come up with an approximate cost. Of course, that would involve work and I prefer to just get a rough, no-obligation if it is off, idea quote from one of my new DIS family members.

On another note, is someone keeping a list of those of us who are arriving early and staying on property? I have seen a B2B list but don't recall one for my situation.

Thanks and I hope everyone has begun their pre-thanksgiving conditioning. :earboy2:
We drive to the port. The tolls are about $3.25 (I believe) or less. They might be less. We always have exact change because the toll amounts are so small but very close together. I take a roll of quarters every time we go.

Carmouse- we are staying prior at BLT. Hoping to switch to VWL. We will use DCL transport. Wishing they did not leave so late. Prefer not to have to rent a car.
A couple of member cruises ago, some people on the cruise meet thread decided that since there was enough interest they all chipped in for a bus. You could do that if there is enough interest on this thread. Maybe not a bus but a limo or van. It might coome out cheaper.

;)

Hey Terri!! I hear ya about the Black Friday. My DH is already in bed, sleeping in the guest bedroom. He is getting up at 2am to go to Best Buy to get a Blu Ray Player for like $59 or something. We are also going to by an LCD Flat Screen tomorrow!!! There are some good deals out there, just hate getting up so early. Good luck. I totally understand about wanting to go alone. ;)

DH did all of his shopping online. He is a Best Buy fan. So, he purchased all of the Black Friday deals that he wanted from Best Buy online on Thursday. He got everything he wanted (except for one season of Smallville), including the blu-ray player for his mother. I was so thankful since I did not have to wake up early to go with him to Best Buy.
