The last of Stitch's six pet rattie girls passed last night (the second to last of them passed while we were at WDW, just before the cruise). I was surprised at how they were such good little pets to have around. Very sweet and friendly. Much more so than the guinea pigs, gerbils and hamsters we've had. Very much like a small caged dog actually. They knew their names and were very easily trained to do tricks (easier than any of our stubborn Bostons!). It's going to be a little strange not to hear them scurrying around in their cage at night.

Sorry to hear that  Rats make excellent pets and they are very smart. I haven't had one since I was a teen. I do remember my Jessica being very sweet and knew her name.

I promised to post these. Here ya go.

Thanks! I was one of those "ewww rats!" people, until Kyle got his girls and they proved me wrong. :goodvibes

Thanks!! What a great meal with awesomesauce company that was!

Thanks to everyone for their kind words for Sammi. I don't know what we're going to do. She ate some pizza this afternoon and then awhile later she acted like she had a stroke or something. Walking sideways, falling down, and breathing very heavy. After about 1/2 to 1 hour later breather was better and she could walk okay. She took at nap and then our other dog barked at something upstairs and she barked to and went upstairs to check it out and barked some more. She then ate about 1/2 hot dog and a beggin strip. She not "normal" but doing better. :confused3

Hi all. We're having a rough week-end. Our dog Sammie, is not doing well at all. We were treating her for a kidney infection for over a month but wasn't getting better. We took her for an ultrasound last week end and it showed bladder cancer. Tried a drug that should work in 3-5 days IF it's going to work. Yesterday she was panting hard all day and wouldn't eat anything - not even pizza or hamburger. Didn't think she'd make it through the day but she did. Both kids came over yesterday to say their good-byes. She's not breathing quite as hard now but still won't eat anything. She's drinking very little. I made eggs this morning but she wouldn't eat them either. She doesn't seem like she's in any pain but I know she can't hold out much longer without eating. I don't know what we'll do tomorrow. We both have to go to work in the morning but I hate to leave her alone (with another dog) but I can't take her to the vet and then go to work. Thanks for listening.
Terri - I'm so sorry to hear about Sammie's condition :sad1: My thoughts & prayers are with Sammie, you and your family :grouphug:

Thanks all - she had another really bad episode today after Tim came home. Took her to the vet and her lungs were filled. Doc said she could give her something for that but with all her other health problems. We couldn't let her go on. She playing with Disney and Pooh now (and my boss' dog that she had to put down on Friday).

We are very sorry to hear about Sammie. She will be playing with our Sammy too! Losing furry children is so very hard... Our thoughts and prayers are with you and Tim.

Terri & Tim - you are in our thoughts and prayers. :grouphug:
It's so hard to loose a pet and we have lost a lot of them this year.

Oh Terri & Tim, I am so sorry. It is so hard to let them go as they are never with us long enough. We, as their human families are so blessed to receive the gift of unconditional love they bestow on us for the short time we get to share our lives with them. Finding the strength to let them cross the Rainbow Bridge when the time comes is the least we can do for our four legged family members. Our thoughts and prayers are with you.

I am sure Disney and Pooh will keep Sammie in good company. Disney's probably flirting with her right now.

:goodvibes Terri, I am so sorry for your loss. I know there are no words that will make you feel better right now, but know she loved you to the end.

Terri & Tim,

Deeply sorry for your family's loss. Wishing you and yours, all the best. Hugs to you all, including Sammie's playmate. :grouphug:
