I actually do answer political questions honestly ... and on occasion have been blasted for my answers ... but it comes with the turf ...

Yup. Jason loves talking politics. It's kind of a hobby. Makes for some strained family dinners because no one else in his family is of the same bent he is. Of course, none of them can support their positions either.

Hi everyone! I just got a call this week that my name came up on the waitlist so I will be joining in all the fun - travelling with me is hubby John. I am very excited to be going on a Member Cruise cuz I love to meet other DVCers and I enjoy my DVC since it helps me get to "my happy place" a few times a year!!!
I am interested in joining in one of the brunches if there's an opening but I can't find a thread that is not closed already. I do help host DVC chat when I'm in town and I am looking forward to meeting all of you!

I will probably have to print out the info here so I can remember where to find all of you - you've been a very busy group!

I would have the same problem. Especially taking what's popular opinion in my district ... and somehow turning that into the what I believe is right.

Yup. Jason loves talking politics. It's kind of a hobby. Makes for some strained family dinners because no one else in his family is of the same bent he is. Of course, none of them can support their positions either.

My FIL is a democrat politician and wants dems to succeed. Yet he runs his office like a conservative. Don't get me wrong, I'm a conservative and I love the way he runs it but Dems on a national scale would never operate like that! But neither have a lot a repubs.
We have gotten into arguments about different things then I pull up facts on .gov websites to disprove him and he thinks I'm crazy. I back my end up all the time and I'm labeled the looney. With him I never go in unprepared because he is very headstrong and confident bc he's the baby of the family and has been catered to all his life.
Bottom line is I do my research. I try to be pragmatic and look at things from all angles and come up with my own decision. Most of the time it doesnt fit either side's talking points yet it still comes from a fiscally conservative angle.
Of you wanna pick my brain or have cordial political talk, I'd love to do it! It's more of a passion than a hobby so I'm in for some debate! Around some Konk Koolers of course!

I think you and Jason will get along famously. He's big on doing his research, while his family just parrots back what they hear on the news (which is usually short on facts and long on fluff).
