09/13/09 SSMC09 S.S. Member Cruise 2009 - Part 4!

Good Morning Chris and Mary....and the rest of my DIS friends!!

It is very sunny here today also but there is just sooooooo much snow everywhere. I am tired of it and I think the kids have finally had enough.

Kids are off today through Monday for President's holiday but I have to work today. I do get Monday off though. :cool1:

I am wishing for Spring and wishing I were back on the Wonder heading to Castaway Cay. So excited just thinking about SSMC11. Although the cruise is so far off what is exciting is knowing we book this November :cool1: I am counting down to that weekend. I am thinking it will be the weekend of Nov 6/7. Mark your calendars!!!! :thumbsup2 I am trying to remember if the call in day was Saturday or Sunday. I will have to go back and look at the old posts to see.

I'll figure it all out and create a countdown. :thumbsup2

Hope everyone has a GREAT weekend!!!

:flower3:

Hi Lisa - Call in day in 2008 was a Sunday & in 2009 was Saturday. I don't know if we will be on SSMC11 since we are planning a cruise on the Dream in July 2011 with some friends.

Hi Everyone - I miss you guys. Wish all of you were on the SSMC10.

Chris, we have the same problem w/where to put the snow, although we're not quite as cold as you (+17 this morning). This will be the 4th snowfall in the current accumulation. I guess it's a good thing DH is tall (6'4"): he can reach the top of the piles!

And Dave, if I could send you our snow, I would! With great joy. This has to be the absolute best for our local ski lovers, though, since the last 15 years or so have seen very little of the white stuff. I just wish all the snow would fall on the mountains. Snow is a 4-letter word!

Again, everyone stay safe, warm and healthy, please. (Speaking of which, Dianne, any improvement?) And Tanya and Robbie, safe travels. (Robbie, my DH works in Manassas. We live about 40 miles SW of there.)

Didn't even feel it! Must have been too tired from waiting up for Mark to get home after plowing at work. Needless to say Mark was even more tired.

The snow is done and it is a beautiful sunny day here in Chicagoland. Can't complain too much as it hasn't been a bad winter and Spring is just around the corner!

To all our friends West of us still cleaning up I hope you are enjoying the sunshine as well. To those to the East I hope the storm doesn't impact you too much.

Take care everyone and think warm thoughts like being on Castaway Cay!

Yes there is improvement today, DGD had been sick until this morning, and a little while ago, I started to feel like myself, I hope I stay this way. I have been home for the last two days, just felt to awful to work.

I am so tired of all of this snow also. We are suspose to get more around, Sunday/Monday.

I am sold glad all of my Chicago friends are Ok since the quake. over the years we have had a few, but never bad.

Sue get better soon:wizard::wizard:

Dave I miss your smile and the Coffee Club

Joanne stay warm.

Mary and Mark, Michael and I have spoke and would love to take you up on the Zoo if you are avaliable. Thank You

Mary and Flo, I am looking for a hotel room, I know you both live in different area's, is there a area I should be looking for a hotel somewhere in between both of you we would really love to see you all. I figure we will be renting a car, and I need to keep my spending to minium.

Everyone have a great weekend, And if you are traveling:wizard::wizard:careful

Hello My SSM09 friends!

Hope everyone has a good weekend.

Dianne - None of the hotels a mod priced downtown (in an area you would want to dtay). I know near woodfield mall there are a few. BUt I can't think of the names. If you see something on line that you think is in your price range send me an e mail and I can see if I know the area. If this makes sence to you. Like Mary said Brookfield zoo is a nice zoo. Have not been there in a while.

Good Morning!!

Yep, that's where I was alright, Chris! In a very rare sleep-in-alittle moment, I was dreaming of the Coffe Club and Deck 9!!

It's still very white here! Haven't seen this much snow in a long long time. It used to snow like this when I was growing up here, but we haven't had much in recent winters. Well, it's making up for lost time - all at once. It is official, this is a record amount of snow in this area - for all the years that they have been keeping records! I took some pix yesterday, I'll see if I can get them on line - yea, I know you are still waiting for the fashion photos of me at the race track!

Kids are off today again - well, this was a planned day off. They had planned for Friday and Monday off for President's Day weekend. Now with the Wednesday and Thursday prior to that off, this has become a mini holiday for them. I told DS he could probably kiss the Easter break goodbye!

If my nose stops running and I don't cough as much today, I may actually break out my paints and try to get something fun done. I should go to mom's but really don't want to give her this cold, so I think I'll wait til tomorrow. Thank goodness her power stayed on. We had a few moments where I thought it was going to go all the way, but it just flickered!

So what are you doing this weekend, Chris? Mary, your weekend plans sound like fun!

Well, it has been a heck of a week. The girls didn't have a full week of school as they were out early Monday, went late Tuesday then out early, late start again on Wednesday, ughhhhhhhhhh. They were able to get two full days in on Thursday and Friday. And, yippeeee, more snow for Saturday and Sunday! Dave, I am more than willing to share this snow with you.:rolleyes1

My dryer died on Tuesday, so we had to go get a new one Thursday night and they delivered it today.

Tomorrow is Brooke's music contest day. So in the morning I am going to be working at it. They just let me know tonight what my shift was. How thoughful of them. I have to be there at 7:45. She will be doing a trombone solo, trombone duet, and several vocals. Her last performance is at 4:30, so I will be there pretty much most of the day.

Sunday we need to get to Sam's club. Oh, and trying to dodge the snow flakes! :lmao: So, nothing to exciting here. How about you? Anything exciting.

Dianne - Excellent news! We'd love to see it with you. Flo we have 4 guest passes so if you and Danny want to join us you are welcome to come as well!

As for hotels I think there are more out Flo's way. We are both North of the city. Mark and I are pretty much due North while Flo and Danny are Northwest. The area out by Flo has tons of hotels and restaurants and Woodfield is where the Doorway to Dreams store is if you'd like to see it. What we did before when friends from Florida were in is that we did the zoo in the morning, headed out to Woodfield later that afternoon and then had dinner out that way at Bahama Breeze (for a little touch of the islands). Or if you are into shopping than you could make Woodfield a half day or more excursion.

Of course downtown offers tons of hotels and plenty of shopping but you will be paying so much more!

Are you still coming in Memorial Day weekend? If so we'll pencil you in.

Here's some links that may help you.

Mary,

Great links for Dianne! I think she would have a blast by woodfield. There is so much to do there and like you said the doorway to dreams. Dianne I know there was a druy inn good price for the night right by woodfield but they changes names and I can't think of what it is. It is off of Higgins by 53 witch is by woodfield. Next time I go by I will try and get the street name.

Mary - Thanks for the offer. I will ask Danny when he gets up.

Found the hotelfrom Mary's link. It is the
La Quinta Inn Schaumburg and says it starts at 69.00 a night.

Also, if you are coming memorial Day you better start to look now. The hotels here go fast. And I also know they are more expensife that weekend to.

I'll start making arrangements for Memorial day weekend, thanks for the wonderful links, this sounds like a lot of fun..I will let you know, I guess I should start with Amtrack and get the ticket arrangements worked out first. :cool1::cool1:

Can't wait to see you all...

Ok I made the reservations arrive on Friday return on Tuesday, I still need to rent a car, but everything else is taken care of. Thanks Flo and Mary

I hope everyone else is doing well today, and a early Happy Valentines day to all:love1:

Happy Valentine's Day!

Mary, you always post the cutest things!!

  Happy Valentine's Day
to all my wonderful cruisin' friends!

It's a bright (and that's partly thanks to the very white snow everywhere) day here in Jersey! Cold though, maybe going up to about 34 or so! Hope everyone is finding time to spend with your valentine! Mine is off at work, but left me a beautiful rose and cards on the bed when he left!! Ahhhhh!!
He's like a fine wine, getting better with age!!

DS had a friend sleep over last night, so they are finally up and now playing video games. Guess I'll fix them something for breakfast. Hey, I might even have time to read the Sunday paper! :yay:

Chris, how did the other day go for DD? How was the trombone solo and duet? I would have loved to hear it. I'm getting quite fond of hearing DS play his trombone in the house. It always has a calming tone to it! At least one out of three of my boys is being musical - it's nice!

DS has off tomorrow for President's Day. Not sure what we might do.

Wow, Dianne, I'm so jealous! It's so nice that you are able to plan a trip to Chicago and visit with Mary and Flo, and their DHs. How cool is that!! You'll have to tell us all about it!

Happy Valentine's Day to all!:lovestruc:flower3:

Sue, I agree; I wish we could all meet w/you in Chicago. I hope you have a great time. :woohoo:

DGD21mos left last night after being here since Wednesday. DGD7 will be leaving shortly (she and her mom have been here since Monday), so the house will be semi-back-to-normal. Man, do I have some cleaning to do!!! The quiet will seem weird, I think, after all the activity w/the 2 little ones. Where's a conch cooler when you really need one? Oh, cabana boy....

I think this calls for a round of "wastin' away in Marguaritaville" under the gazebo!!! Let me know when you find that cabana boy . . . :lmao:

Happy Valentine's Day!

Mary, you do find the cutiest things to post.

Wish you all could meet in Chicago. I do think about all of you often.
That was most likley the best trip, I have been on. It was so nice to have spent it with all of you.

Places are nice but they could never replace all of you.

Have a great day, and stay safe and warm.

Any body see the Olympics last night, speed skating and ladies ski was good last night, looking forward to move speed skating and snow boarding tomorrow, watching mens luge now.

How exciting:woohoo::woohoo:Go USA

She did very well, despite the fact that she has a cold. She got a "I" on her vocal solo, a "I-" on trombone solo, a "II" on trombone duet and "I+" on all her group vocals. So overall a very good day for her. Thanks for asking!

Joanne - I like the sound of that cabana boy. ;)

Oh, Cabana Boy, I need another Margarita please!!!!!!! I need to waste away again in Margaritaville! :rotfl2:
