09/13/09 SSMC09 S.S. Member Cruise 2009 - Part 4!

Morning Everyone!

Chris - Sorry for Becca. She tried her hardist and that is all that matters. Your football team sounds like are high school. They have not won a game either. I would have been sobbing with you at the end of the game. What they did sounds so touching. When DS graduated college his whole baseball team came by me and gave me a group hug and a gift no one would look at me because i was sobbing. I was the person that took care of them during the games.

Dianne - I am sure you have allot of planning to do for the house party. Do you have to have on a certin day. That is going to be so much fun. Take lots of pictures to share.

Sue - Hope you legs are feeling a better.

Mary - Good luck tomorow.:littleangel: Hope all goes as planned.:wizard:

Good Morning Deck 9 Sunrise Members and all Fellow Cruisers

Well it is Monday so the start of a new week. This is going to be a crazy day for me. For one thing it is the anniversary of my Mom's death. I can't believe it has been 12 years since we lost her.

Then at work it is the first of the classes I need to teach for the new software we've been working on. I've got a month of teaching ahead for me with classes scheduled most mornings from 9:30 - 11:30 each day and then in the afternoon still learning myself and trying out new things.

Last, but certainly not least, today is the day my port comes out!

Mark wasn't feeling well over the weekend she he's staying home and will come pick me up to go to the doctor.

Hope everyone has a great day ahead!

Mary - hope you have a great day with all that is going on for you. Sorry to hear about your mom.

Teaching new software is quite the challenge. I know we have been doing that here too and people just don't want to change. So best wishes for that to go well for you.

Good luck with the port coming out. You are probably so ready for that. And I hope Mark gets to feeling better. And soon.

Thanks Flo! But since she didn't make it she can now put all her efforts in the school musical. They are doing "Big". You know, Tom Hanks as the little kid in a grown ups body. That one. And Becca is playing the Mom. And it was funny, when they posted the cast she called me and said Mom, I am playing you in the musical. :rotfl2: So, that will keep her busy. The performances are coming up Nov 12-14. Should be fun!

Have a great day!

Good Morning Everyone!

I am a little late getting in today, Tanya had to go to NYC for the day so I put the kids on the busses. Hope all had a great weekend. I am glad its Monday, all I did was play taxi driver for the kids this weekend.

Mary-Glad to hear you are getting the port out finally! Sorry to hear about your mom. Hope Mark gets better quick, the town next to ours shut down thier schools until Wed., 200 kids out Friday and half the faculty.

Have a good day all!

Chris,

That sounds like fun for her.:) I used to love going to DS school when they did plays. He did the lights. Some of the kids were so good.

Wow, 900 kids...Hopefully it doesn't spread to our town!
As for resting, I think work is alot less hectic at this time of year, until the snow really flies! Then it is collision repair time!!

Yay Tanya for going to NYC. Hope that is fun for her. Never been there myself. Hopefully in 2011 when Becca goes on her Sr. Trip. From our High School they go to DC and NYC for a week on a bus. DH is not excited about it because when he was in the Army he worked out of National Guard Bureau in DC and no big whoop to him. But me, I'm excited. Plus NYC to boot! Woo Hoo! :woohoo: I am so hopping I can go. So, I hope Tanya had a great time and tell her "Hi".

Wow, 900 kids...Hopefully it doesn't spread to our town!

Hope the flu doesn't spread to you and yours. It sounds awful. My kids have been sick, but I don't think it has been H1N1. They have never ran fevers or anything. So, I am hopeful. And I hope your girls, and you guys, stay healthy as well.

I'm sure that you want the snow to fly so business picks up. :rotfl2: That's what pays for the vacations, right? :rotfl: Just kidding. Just stay safe. :goodvibes

Well, this past week/weekend, DH has been trying to get a hold of someone at DVC to see if we can upgrade/add the girls since we bought points on this years cruise for next years cruise and we are already booked for next years cruise. Well, he was able to add the girls to our cruise but they told him we were not able to upgrade? :confused3 What? Nope couldn't do it. They even called us back on Sunday to say "no, sorry, can't upgrade. You have to take what was offered when we purchased more points." DH said, ok, so long as we have three beds. One for us and one for each girl. They said no problem. But they could't give us a room number. :confused3 What? Ok. He asked if we call back on Nov 7th if we could do all this and they said they didn't know but this is what we could get. We thought, ok, well, we are on at least and we think we have a room with three beds. :rolleyes1

So, today, while at lunch, a CM from DVC calls apologizing for all the confusion and is able to upgrade us to deck 7, with a balcony and beds for all of us. :woohoo: In fact, she even heard me say to DH why can they do it today and not yesterday? She was so nice and apologetic. But I had a weird request after that and she said to ask away. Now, I don't know if it bothers any of you, but. . . . . . on the last several cruises we have been on when we have walked in to our room the bathroom/bed was too my left when we walked in to the room. This time on the 2009 members cruise it was on the right and I was so screwed up! So was DH. So I asked her for a room that when you walked in the bathroom/bed would be on the left. She laughed but knew exactly what I was talking about and gave us room 7022. Said that was with the bathroom/bed on the left. That way, when I get up in the middle of the night and need to use the facilities, I am closest from bed. :rolleyes1 If that makes sense to you? It is not that far to go and I don't have to walk around the end of the bed. Such problems. I know. Who would have thought? Not me, until this years cruise! :rotfl:

So, just thought I would share. And, is anyone else going to call in for next year's cruise? Any One? :rolleyes1

Hi Chris...glad to hear all is well now for next years members cruise. Thanks for sharing.
Gotta love DVC.
We will be calling in on November 7th. Looking forward to it.
Do you know if anyone has started a SSMC 2010 thread?

I am sure collision is a busy time during the snow season? How is it if you vacation during that time?

Chris,

I bet the girls are excited. This will be a great cruise for all of you. Glad you were able to up grade. I did not even think of the left and right till you mentioned it. All of are have always bee n to the left this time it was to the right so maybe that is why it did not feel right.;)

That sounds like a great trip. We went to CA on ours. We did LA and San Francisco on a bus. We flew in then took a coach bus all over. iT was allot of fun. Hope you can go on the trip.

Been to DC and Ny and like them.

No, I don't think anyone has started a thread yet. Sorry, I'm not a leader, just a follower, and will so miss Mary's weekly updates for this next cruise! I so hope you will be able to get through on the 7th. We can't wait to get back on the ship! And, just so you know, we are in room 7022. :woohoo:

Yes, the girls are looking forward to it. In fact, we are usually at Disney this week! But, we didn't go this year so Becca could try out for All-State Music. She didn't make it, but, hey, she tried.

And yes, the way the rooms are set up on the ship sure did screw me up this time. :lmao: I'm so weird!

So cool! When I was in school, we didn't do a Sr. Trip. Of course I graduated with over 180 people and Becca will graduate with just a little over 60. So, I can't wait.

Good Evening DIS Friends!!!

(and Good Morning for those that will not see this until sunrise)

Hope all is well with everyone!

Mary - Hope all went well today. Was thinking about you this morning. Sounds like I should have also been sending special wishes to Mark also. Hope he is feeling better.

Chris - So sorry to hear that Becca was not selected from the tryouts. But, still another great life experience and as you said it gives her more time to focus on the high school musical. Great news on the SSMC10 upgrade. :thumbsup2 Good for you. Isn't it funny how you can get two completely different responses. Maybe the first CM was new. At this time, I am not planning on calling in for SSMC10. I am still researching the WBTA. I actually called DVC today to get more details. I have a friend who is planning on calling in for it though. I will have to direct her to the DIS site if she can get booked. She is crazy! She has a 'life of the party' personality.

Flo - Something just dawned on me as I was reading through the notes here. I believe you are an empty nester (right??) and as you respond to everyone's posts it is neat how you are always reminiscing about the days when DS participated in the different activities. I can almost picture you sitting at your computer drinking your coffee and smiling as you reminisce about the fond memories. Maybe I am reading in to this but it seems to me like you are ready to be a grandmother. As much as you probably really enjoy having the time to 'do your own thing'. Something tells me you are looking forward to having a little one around to spoil (and then send home of course) and create many more memories. Does DS have a significant other??? Okay, maybe he is still in college. Maybe it is too early yet. But I still think you are ready. Hey, someone else with whom you can share the joy of Disney. :thumbsup2

Dave
- What a great business for being in the Northeast! ;)
Not sure of the exact location and if it was near you but were there any cars in that big accident today involving the 3 tractor trailers? Hopefully no one was seriously injured but another day at the office for you. Hey, someone has to do it. :confused3 :lmao:

Hey, where's Sue? I did not see her out here.

As for me, I finished up class this week. Had a frustrating ending to the class but it is done and over with and I am not going to re-live the events. Putting it all behind me. Good class but glad it is over.

I spent the weekend working on the bathroom. What a job! :headache: I removed all the caulking (or whatever you call it) from around the bathtub. I think it had a couple of layers. Yuck! I also ripped out some extra moulding that really served no purpose other than to collect lots of dirt on it and underneath of it. I bleached everything and scrub it all down (walls, ceiling, tub, etc) I put all new caulking in yesterday and had to let that set. I started to paint last night. I did not get any painting done today so hopefully tomorrow I can get it finished. I had one of those....why did I start this moments?....but once I saw how much better the tub looked after doing all that work I was pleased. I figured I was going to have to replace it soon but I can definitely get more use out of it. Other than the toilet, everything in the bathroom is the original from when the house was built many years ago. So, it is not very stylish but serves its purpose. At least the good cleaning and painting should freshen it up a bit. Hey, if I can get more years out of this stuff that means a few extra dollars for vacations!!

A real exciting weekend wouldn't you say! :confused3 Hey, I have to get it done when I can. We have 3 games this week for DS and DD has dance and then there is Halloween next weekend.

The kids are off for a 5 day weekend in November for the NJEA convention and then Vet's holiday. That is the weekend we will put up our Christmas tree. :rolleyes1 I know some may say...WHAT?? Your Christmas tree the first weekend in November. Yup! I love to get that up and out of the way. We do not have a real tree so we can put it up early. It is so much fun being able to take our time as we put the ornaments on. Of course, we have to discuss each one. It used to be that we put it up the weekend after Thanksgiving. But, we started doing our annual family vacation at Disney over the holiday. The first year I did not have the tree up and when we got back everything was so hectic. I did not get half of my decorations up and we really missed the special time of just sitting around enjoying the holiday. So, from that year on my tree was always up before our November vacation.

We are not even going to Disney for the holidays this year but it has become a tradition now to be the first one on the block with our tree up. We actually get cars stop out front. I am sure they are doing a double take. :lmao: It really is a lot of fun and leaves me with time to do so many other things. It is definitely a conversation piece when someone drops by in November. I am getting excited just thinking about it.

Okay, well I have to get the cub scout advancements done before I go to bed. I sat down an hour ago to work on them but got on here first. I know better than to get on here if I really need to get work done.

Hope everyone is able to Stay Healthy with the flu going around.

Lisa

Yes, I do..I've been trying to figure out how to decorate on a budget. I have come up with a couple of games to play, and Michael tested his mecanical Parrot.
Also trying to figure out what type of food to lay out. Thinking desert, with fruit and some type of display, you know the way disney would do.

Thats exactly right Chris, not to wish anyone gets into an accident, but if they do someone has to fix them :rolleyes1 Tanya had a very quick trip in and out and didn't see much more than Madison Square Garden area. She got there in the am and left at 4pm.
Thanks for the stay well wishes, I repeat that wish for you and yours as well. Hopefully everyone is fully recovered from sicknesses.

That way, when I get up in the middle of the night and need to use the facilities, I am closest from bed. :rolleyes1 :rolleyes1

Chris-That is SO Tanya!!!

I am sure collision is a busy time during the snow season? How is it if you vacation during that time?

Flo-I will find out for sure this year :rotfl2: I believe it will be fine, I have a great bunch of guys that work for me and that allows vacations to happen.

Lisa-The big wreck was on the Mass Pike about 15 miles from here, so it didn't affect us at all. It was 3 tractor trailers and 1 car that was totalled. One of the trucks spilled a load of "beef sides", what a mess.

I second your shout out for everyone to remain healthy!!
