09/13/09 SSMC09 S.S. Member Cruise 2009 - Part 4!

:scared1:Sue- That is awesome, what a great way to raise money for this terrible disease. 60 miles??? I have owned a few cars that couldn't drive that far!! I wish you the best of luck.:worship:

Chris-Congrats to Brooke:thumbsup2

Joanne- That doesn't bother me at all either, I just can't get into the flow over there. And thanks for the no smells report :rotfl2:

Have a good night everyone

Dave, I only wish we were going to be at WDW in Dec. at the same time.

Ellen,
Thanks so much for the continuing photos - I really look forward to seeing them.
This group reminded me of what beautiful weather we had while we were on Castaway Cay! Wish I was back there now! :cool1:

Oh, how those photos make me want to be back at CC. Sigh.

Morning Everyone!

I have been up most of the night.;)

As most of you know I broke my tooth on the cruise. Well I went to the dentist yesterday. Well I go to the oral surgan on Thursday. They are pulling it. When she did the exray. It is cracked in the root.:scared1: I thought it was just cracked but then this weekend it was hurting and throbing real bad. Well now I know why. Oh well I guess after Thursday it will be better.:)

Take care and have a great day.

:surfweb:

Flo, I know just how you feel about going to the dentist. :scared1::scared1::scared1:

Well, here is some news for you, DH has been brooding around the house since we got back from the members cruise and our days at WDW because he was going to miss Food and Wine fest this year--his favorite time to be down there. He has been diligently trying to find some affordable air fare to Orlando before this event is over. Well, he found some for the first weekend in November. Which happens to be the last weekend of F&W Fest. He is so excited. We were even able to get a two bedroom suite at SSR and our friends from Florida are going to come up and join us again! :yay: They also enjoy F&W fest alot. We are only going to be there for the weekend. Crazy, I know. We get in Friday night and leave Monday afternoon so the girls will only miss 1 day of school.

And, after this computer conversion and mess we have had at work, we need to get away. I was apprehensive about going at first, since we were just there in September and we will be back again in March, but I am getting more excited every day. And the girls are really excited.

In fact, I have been so apprehensive about this trip I didn't want anyone to know. But, you guys understand the Disney thing, right? Oh, to be on deck 9 right now with you all and enjoying some witty conversation. Maybe someday that will happen again.

Well, thanks for listening to me ramble. :flower3:

Good for you and why not. You've got to enjoy while you can, and if you've got the points, it's easy.

I would love to put ours outside, but the coyotes think they taste like chicken:lmao:

CONGRATS!!! I totally understand the Disney thing, what a good thing, even if for a short time. ENJOY!

OK, Dave, not to sound too stupid, but are there coyotes in MA? I know they've been spreading, but to MA?? Wow.

Chris,

How exciting!:thumbsup2 Nothing crazy about that. i would do it in a heartbeat to.

take care
flo
:surfweb:

Definitely.

I hope you all are getting some beautiful fall weather. We've had a few of the most gorgeous days here lately. (Yeah, and according to the weather reports it was supposed to rain the last 2 days. Not.)

Chris - go for it! We've done a few quick trips at the spur of the moment. One year we went to Disneyland just two weeks after getting back from a cruise. All because of a good airfare.

Enjoy!

:rotfl2::rotfl2:

I know. We have two cats ourselves. Thank goodness they are mostly outdoors. They come in to eat in the morning and at night, then back outside for them. My girls just hated to take care of them and, let me tell ya, I'm not cleaning no stinking litter box. No way. (Can you tell, I'm not a big cat fan). The deal was if they wanted them inside then they take care of them and I was constantly telling them to clean the litter box and they wouldn't with out a fight, so outside they went. They are good cats, but. . . . . . . .

Robbie-The kittens cuteness wore away already, now they are TROUBLE!!:lmao:

:rotfl2: Well if you ever feel like cleaning a litter box, I have 2. My kitty was having some problems making it down to the basement. So it was easier to add a second litter box than cleaning the carpet all the time.

Good morning everyone - especially my friends from the Deck 9 Sunrise Club!

Robbie I went back to the first thread for 2009 and found this. It was on the Member Web Site on 10/17/08 so I'm thinking they will put up the points needed for the 2010 cruise will be going up in the next couple of weeks.

First number is points, second number is cash. This is per person based on double occupancy.

11 STANDARD INSIDE STATEROOM 116 $869
10 DELUXE INSIDE STATEROOM 124 $916
9 DELUXE OCEANVIEW STATEROOM 131 $944
8 DELUXE OCEANVIEW STATEROOM 144 $992
7 DELUXE STATEROOM W/ NAVIGATOR’S VERANDAH 162 $1,084

5 DELUXE STATEROOM W/ VERANDAH 181 $1,195
4** DELUXE FAMILY STATEROOM W/ VERANDAH 208 $1,384

Awesome thanks!

I had an offer from someone for one of the clocks, but the person never got back to me...does anyone have an extra they could part with? I would gladly reimburse you for the expense...if anyone sees one for sale, let me know. I can't find one or I would just buy one...just realized that the only thing I have from the member cruise is the little suitcase and the FE gifts. The frame, clocks, cel from new movie and everything else given to us was in the bag that someone took. I just would love to have one of the clocks. If you know of any, please pm me or email me.

Thanks,
Susan

Susan, I can't believe that your bag hasn't turned up yet.

Awesome! I'm so jealous. Go for it!

OMG, you guys. You have me close to tears. I knew you would understand. Thanks so much for the good thoughts and understanding. Folks around here just don't understand. They think we are weird and out of our minds. In fact, here is a story for you. One of the girls I work with was getting her hair cut and she was talking to her hair dresser about what was going on and she said that one of her co-workers was at Disney and that they were big Disney Freaks. The hairdresser says, "OMG, I know them, they are in my wine club. They told us one night that they were big Disney fans." And she told my co-worker our names. :scared1:

I guess we all need habits. Ours just isn't close to home. Oh, well. :rolleyes1

Not the greatest photos - without the ability to use flash, I pump up the ISO - which looks grainy - hence the small size here....

:surfweb:Good Morning Everyone including the Deck 9 Sunrise Club:surfweb:

Good morning back to you Dave, the rest of the Deck 9 Sunrise Club and all my fellow cruisers.

Dave took a look at your Alaskan thread. Very active group and organized too! Our group seems to be much smaller and not as talkative yet, still seems like a very nice group.

They definitely seem organized, and are very nice as well, we just don't have numbers yet. I think we might have less than ten core posters at this time.
It will come in time.

Have a good day Mary!

Good Morning Deck 9 Sunrise Club and everyone who didn't make it up that early while on board! ;) You sleepy heads! :lmao: And where is Sue? Must be busy out training for her walk.

Icky weather here today. Cold and rainy. Blech.

Have a great day

Good Morning everyone! Here I am! Sorry just been going slightly crazy - but no excuse to ignore my buddies in the Deck 9 Club! Won't happen again - really :lmao:

Yep, I was doing some training. But also, DH has had a few meeting that take place at the central office, so he doesn't leave until later, and then that makes me later with everything I do! oh well!

Chris - yippee for you guys that you are going for the Wine and Food Festival. That's one of our very favorites - you MUST have a Sammy Adams Festival Beer for us!!! Please - and send it to us in a toast! Can't get that anywhere but there, so enjoy! :rotfl2: We're so jealous!

Hello!

Hope everyone is having a good day. back from the dentist. He did a great job. Should have done it sooner.

Lisa,

I wish I could have scene the guys face when the kids started to ask those questions.:)

Good luck with the superitendent. You will have to let us know those questions.

Hope all goes well.

Hi Flo! Thanks. The mayor last year was really good with them. Very patient. I know the superintendent will do a really nice job with them. He is very well spoken and I am looking forward to the meeting. And, glad to read that your dentist appt went well. Yours was the last post that I read today.
Good Morning Everyone! Happy day to all - especially the Sunrise Deck 9 Club!! :cool1:

Dianne, thanks - I get a little nervous when it gets closer to the event, but it's a happy nervous! :goodvibes

Lisa, keep on truckin' with those activity badges! Are you doing your troop visits anytime soon?

We have not actually done any troop visits. Our retiring cubmaster is also very active with the troop we will be working with and he also does the venturing. We only have a couple of boys in our den. I think we will only have 4 by the time we get to the Blue & Gold Banquet. I am okay with that since I am so busy with everything else. We are not meeting every week this year and everyone else was very happy I changed the schedule. I do not know if they would have returned if it was weekly. Everyone is just so busy with activities that it makes it hard on the kids and parents.

Because we worked so hard last year, Kyle only has his boy scout requirements left to do for Arrow of Light and the other 3 boys are not far behind him. I think after this month they will all have met the requirements for the badges. Anything else is just an extra towards getting Compass points and the Twentier patch. Then we can focus on the other requirements and just do some really fun stuff.

Flo, I'm so sorry to hear about your tooth. You hadn't mentioned it so I thought maybe everything had settled down with it. What's the option when they pull it, will you get a cap?

Have fun bowling Mary! Maybe Dave can offer up some tips!! :rotfl:

Morning Dave!! :)

Good Morning. :goodvibes

Running a little late today. Better late than never though. :rotfl:

Flo - sorry to hear about the tooth. I thought you had that all fixed by now. That is a long time to be in pain. Hopefully it will be all better soon for you.

Mary - sounds like you are going to have a fun day at work soon. DH used to get those kind of days in the military. We would go bowling, picinic, horseback riding (which I hate), and stuff. Just a nice way to spend an afternoon with co-workers and not at work. Enjoy!

Lisa - how is the class coming? You are just so busy with everything, I don't know how you do it. Plus, how is the kitty?

Hi Chris! Well, class is moving along. I just found out today that I have to redo my last paper which was 5 pages of text. I obviously misunderstood the requirements. So, I am really sad about that :sad1:. I still have the final project which is an 8-9 page paper. :scared1: I am not sure how I will get it all done. I am definitely feeling very overwhelmed right now. I am having one of those classes where I wished I had never signed up for it. I like the class but the 10 days away for vacation really messed up my routine. I will make sure I do not do that again. Although I guess I will not have to worry about it since I have no vacations planned at this time. What keeps me going is the fact that this time next year I will be done. As long as I take the final course summer 2010. :cool1:
I think I said it before but I really can not believe how exhausted I was after this vacation. I was pretty tired when I left for vacation but I came back even more tired. Then with the several all nighters working on my papers. Like I said I learned my lesson not to do it again.

As for Mittens. What can I say that Dave has not already said :rotfl2:
He is really cute and we have a lot of fun with him...BUT he is a handful.
I will have to post a picture sometime. I never thought I would ever consider having a cat declawed but I am pretty close to having it done. He ruined a brand new shirt I was wearing today and he is climbling on everything. I know it won't be long before he ruins a piece of furniture. Then he will be in big trouble.

Have fun in WDW. I went to F&W last year with my sister. I had some points to use up so we planned a mom's get away. It was nice doing what I wanted when I wanted. Ahhhh.

And Dave - how are your kittens doing? Getting bigger by the day I'm sure.

Have a great day! :flower3:

:surfweb:Good Morning Everyone:surfweb:

Robbie-The kittens cuteness wore away already, now they are TROUBLE!!:lmao:

Dave all I have to say is, I am right there with you. The cuteness factor has not quite worn off yet as Mittens is still pretty young but I have to come up with a plan for getting him properly trained. :rotfl2: Okay, so everyone tells me I am crazy to think I will train this cat. Cats do what they want when they want is pretty much what I hear. Well, the way I look at it. If you want to live here you follow the rules and that means being an :littleangel:.
Yes, I am tired and delirious. Wishful thinking I guess. Hey, I have yet to properly train my children to be :littleangel: :littleangel:. How can I expect a kitten to do it in a month. :sad2:

Hi everyone, Flo I am glad the denist visit went well.

Our apprisal went well also.

and Chris I am so jealous,,,some day I'll get to the food and wine festival. Have a great time.

Just a few things....

SSMC09 question - For those that had more than 2pp in a room, does everyone get 1 each of every gift? I hope I am making sense with my question. For the kids and I, there was a suitcase and a pin for each of us but for all other gifts (book, picture, clock) there were only 2 of each item. I had assumed that maybe they just gave the gifts based on 2 paid adults. Although DS is only 10, I had to pay for an adult. So, that is what I assumed it was based on. I did not ask but on the last day someone at breakfast said that we should have gotten a gift per person.

Is that true? I do have to say that the kids were upset that there was not 1 for each of us. I did make a comment on the DVC card that gifts should be per person. I recall seeing someone right after the cruise post that they had gotten 8 of each item. But I am not sure if they were just referring to the pins.

Anyone able to help??

Adventures by Disney - Not sure if I have asked this in the past but has anyone done any of these trips? Were they worth the points/cash? There are a few I would really love to do but wanted to get some feedback.

NON SSMC cruises - Can someone just confirm/clarify for me what is/is not included in a regular DCL cruise price/points versus the SSMC cruise price/points.

I believe the tips for dinner are not included in the regular DCL. What else would be different? I am trying to get a general idea of what additional expense I would have if and when I book another cruise. I saw today that all the 2011 DCL cruises were listed with points today on the DVC site.
Trying to figure out if I can swing the Alaska cruise. I guess if I bank my 09-10 points and then use the 10-11 points. Hmmm. Bring the kids...not bring the kids...that is the question. If I were to book something and then later make a change to the guests in the room is that just a $75 charge to make the change? I think I read that somewhere. That would not be a big deal but if I misread and it is a lot more than I better think about that a little bit.

Maybe I could plan the Alaska and the SSMC10. Yeah right. I guess I would be borrowing from 2012 for my Alaska. And then I do not think I would have enough.

The kids and I stayed on Deck 5 for SSMC09 and we really loved it being right down the hall from the kids clubs. Are there any other locations that you find are especially nice?

Sorry for all the questions. I am sure there will be more though.

Chat with you all later. Maybe one of these days I will be online for your morning chats.

Oh, and just because I was not able to join you all in the mornings did not mean I was sleeping in. DD closed the lab 3 of the 4 nights so that meant I was up until 1am waiting for him to return. And, in the morning after my shower I would go up to the buffet and get breakfast for them and bring it back to the room (they were still sleeping of course) and then go back to get something for myself. That actually saved us a lot of time. Maybe next time I will be able to join you....I know there will be a next time. I am sure of it.

Well, time to get off the computer. I swore I was going to bed at 9 tonight. Oh well, maybe tomorrow.....nope Kyle has a baseball game at 8pm. Hey, I am sending them to Cape May with my parents after Kyle's Saturday game and they are not back until Monday (no school). I may get some sleep as long as I do not stay up all night working on my papers. :cool1::cool1:

Chat with you all later.

Lisa,

Hi busy lady!:)

You are right. The tips are not included in the regular prices. I sure with they were. I like that. The only other different thing is the entertainment. Other then that everything is the same.

Good luck Lyle at your game. Hope when the kids go home with the grandparents you get some rest.

I was up in the morning to but I just did not want to get dressed.;)

What a nice mom getting breakfest for the kids.:)

Take care
flo

Good morning everyone and a special hello to my Deck 9 Sunrise Club buddies!

Lisa the big differences between a DVC cruise and a regular cruise are the tips not being included, the special speakers and shows not being on, and no gifts every day.

Depending on the cruise you may or may not get a special gift. For example for our December 2004 10 day Christmas Cruise we got a Ducky Williams litho.

Another big expense with regular DCL cruises is excursions. Since the DVC cruise is really kind of a "cruise to nowhere" the only excursions were on CC. Especially for Alaska excursions can add a bit to your budget.

Chris - are you safe from all the flooding I saw in the St. Louis area? Mark was watching the Weather Channel last night and they did a live remote from somewhere near St. Louis showing all the flooding. Hope you are safe!

Morning Everyone!

They are saying snow fluries here this weekend!:scared1:
