Happy Birthday, Dianne! :banana::banana::banana:

A big thank you to all of you from DH and me for the lovely anniversary wishes. I am one lucky woman  .

As of this morning I am officially done with chemo! party:

WHOOO HOOOO! :dance3::dance3::dance3:

Yeah tough start this am. My DW called last night while I was at soccer practice with my DD, her truck quit running. She was an hour away, so I took my DD home and drove up to give her my truck while I waited for AAA. When AAA showed up they went to load up the vehicle and ripped the trailer hitch right off our truck:mad:, then his cable broke and he couldn't load it at all!! They called for a second truck, long story short, I ended up getting home at 12:45 this am.:headache: We still don't know what is wrong with her truck, but hopefully by the end of the day they get it figured out. So, I stayed home this am and got he kids on the busses, while my DW took my truck to work.

Dave, I'm glad that it wasn't anything too serious.

I read this on a different thread:

Disney's Castaway Club is changing. Basically they are going to do a teired system.

Silver will be for people who have done 1 - 5 previous DCL cruises. You basically get what you get now with this - 90 day booking window and gift and lanyards

Gold will be for those who have done 6 - 10 previous DCL cruises. With this you get an extra gift such as flowers or chocolate and 105 day window for booking trips etc and lanyards

Platinum will be for those who have done 11 + cruises. For this you get a better extra gift such as free Palo and the 105 booking window and lanyards.

Gold and Platinum Members also enjoy early booking opportunities for new itineraries and new ships

Or at least this is what they are telling us as as yet it hasn't been fully implemented on the website. There's also rumours that the lanyards & key to the world cards will vary between levels.

Hope that helps.

Wow, that's interesting. Thanks for the update.

I would love to be on the maiden voyage, I just think that would be too cool:cool1::cool2:

Oh, yeah. We're ready (and hopefully could come up w/some kind of funds ;) ).

We are pretty easy going people. We like to have a nice drink, a few munchies and some nice conversation. I am hoping to hit the adult shows also on the cruise. I hope they do match your mate, or whatever it is called. It is so funny. I love it. :thumbsup2

That sounds perfect to me. I'm always wanting to do the shows, especially the comedy shows; DH not so much.

Now how does someone just "fall" off a cruise ship? Why would someone "fall'" off a cruise ship. The only Carnival cruise I was on was like a "party" cruise...lots of intoxicated people making fools of themselves. Neverr went again. I was even young then, but I don't enjoy seeing people making fools of themselves...having fun, yes, being foolish, yes, but drunken fools, no. It is amazing to me also that he was spotted by the Wonder...big ship, little person. He is very very fortunate.

They don't call Carnival the booze cruise for nothing.

I'm here I was on facebook playing games, then looking for jobs.

I was also looking at the front of the Wonder in port. It is nice on Thursdays. no blocking ship.:)

I may not be here when she sails, but it's lovely to look at her. Thanks for the reminder, Flo.

We will be taking two large suitcases, hopefully having enough room for the additional "gifts". Last year we had to ship the additional gifts back from Orlando.

Wow, was there really that much stuff??

:earsgirl: I'm Goin' to Disney World! :earsboy:

party:

Best answer, Sue.

Mark, we're taking the path of least resistance and taking the Disney bus.

Oh, and big congrats to all the pirate and bride winners (lurkers though they may be ;) ). And Dave, it's sad but true. For all my posting, I'm never in the right place when it's time to get a pirate/bride. So is there a prize for most posts without one? :rotfl:

Well, Sue, lurking isn't nearly as shameful as posting 10 times in a row to get a pirate/ES like I did! :littleangel:

Still confused about the man overboard...I don't think I have ever heard of a person "falling" off a Disney ship. I saw that documentary also about how the cruise ships make their money from pushing the alcohol.

Now that DH is diabetic he won't be able to have any Bahama Mama's and all the good stuff on the cruise. Poor DH.

Do you think that the things we will get on the ship will fit into one of those giant size Disney shopping bags that you buy for $7 in the parks and gift shops? They are reinforced plastic with cloth handles. They last forever. I have used them each trip to carry home gifts. I just don't want to pay for a second suitcase.

Did one of you who has done the member cruises previously say that pirate night is the first night? I need to know. If so, I need to cancel Palo.

I am feeling sick today. I knw I could get sick. The pharmacy ran out of my prescription cough medicine and I barked for 2 days straight (mold allergies) and now my throat hurts and I feel sick. I think I am getting bronchitis or SWINE FLU...going to go to doctor tomorrow if I am still sick. Can't fly if I am sick and can't sail if I am sick. Wouldn't you know it...nothing for months and now I get sick.

Maybe I should stay home tomorrow and call in.

DH is worried that the waves will be choppy and sea will be rough with the hurrican activity...anyone know?

Susan

I'm watching the news and they were just talking about that guy that "fell" off the ship. They said another passenger heard him and a woman arguing. He threatened to jump off the ship, and her response was Go ahead! So- he did... they also said he was going to be receiving a psychiatric evaluation now that they have docked.

It's a waste of $140, but oh well.

I think you deserve a prize!

Maybe I should stay home tomorrow and call in. Definitely.

DH is worried that the waves will be choppy and sea will be rough with the hurrican activity...anyone know? We sailed in the middle of a lot of hurricane activity last year. Taking the Bonine helped a lot; we barely even noticed the waves. Ginger is also good for queasy stomachs.

Susan

Please everyone, stay healthy!

Yeah, a "booty" prize :lmao: . (I had another word rather than "booty" in there, but it was not allowed...can you guess what it was?)

And, hey, at least we don't have to drive. And we'll be in good company :thumbsup2 .

Dinner is at 6:30, you better catch a quick flight

Bummer! We'll never make it in time! However, I am off to my fiesta (or is it siesta?) I dunno!!

Off to my fajitas!! And my margarita!! :woohoo: Talk to you later!!

Susan,

Oh I hope you get better soon. Bronchitis is no fun. Sending pixiedust:
I went to the doctor on mondday for a blood pressure check and I said can you right me a script for a new inhaler. I want to have it just in case. Better safe then sorry.

If you can stay home that would be good or if you can take an extra day before the cruise that would be good to.:grouphug:

Take care

How much is it to park at the cruise ship. You would think after all these cruises I would know this stuff but haven;t driven in a cpl of years their

where did that happen.

Here is the article in the Orlando Sentenial

Reports show the man rescued by a Disney cruise ship this morning had jumped from his original ship as it sailed back to Cape Canaveral.

"The guest was witnessed jumping overboard from a balcony stateroom on the Carnival Sensation which was on the final night of a four-day cruise to the Bahamas," a statement issued by Carnival Cruise Lines this morning shows.

Carnival Cruise Lines did not release the man's name or hometown.

The ship searched for the 34-year-old man and initiated a rescue operation when they learned he had jumped. Carnival Sensation returned to the area where the man went overboard -- somewhere near the St. Lucie Inlet.

Carnival authorities called the U.S. Coast Guard which sent out a chopper, a cutter and another boat to search for the man, Coast Guard Petty Officer Nick Ameen said.

Ameen said the Disney Wonder, which was sailing in the same area at 12:15 a.m. and returning to Cape Canaveral, found the man first, about 28 miles east of the St. Lucie Inlet.

"The man had been treading water for about 90 minutes and was very tired," Ameen said. Medical personnel aboard the Disney Wonder checked the man for injuries, but he was in good condition.

Both ships are now moored at Port Canaveral this morning.

The man requested he be returned to the Carnival Sensation, which departs this afternoon to the Bahamas for a three-day cruise.

Memorial Univeristy of Newfoundland professor Ross Klein tracks the number of people who fall off ships. According to his website cruisejunkie.com, a total of eight people, including Thursday's jumper, have gone overboard on Carnival cruise ships.
