Glad to see I am not alone! Thanks everyone!
I have to learn how to do the multiple quote thing...:confused3

Mary, you are driving down too! From Chicago right?? How long does it take you?
For us, I think it's about 20 hours. We'll doing it in 2 and half days..nice and slow on the way there, then much more "intense" on the way home :rotfl:

Alex.

Alex - yes we are driving down. Driving time is about 19 hours and we do it in a day and a half. We are the opposite and do more intense on the way down.

We leave Thursday about 4 am and drive through to Macon, GA which gets us in about 8 pm (thier time).

Next day we'll leave about 5 am and get to Disney very early afternoon.

On the way home we'll leave a little bit later (maybe 6-7 am) and drive up to Franklin, TN where we have family. The next day we drive from Franklin to home and get in mid afternoon.

We take 57 out of IL which is a longer route than 65 but one we like a lot more. We pretty much only stop for gas, rest areas and lunch at Sonic! :)

On a sad note, my Fish Extender that my mother was going to make is not going to make it for this cruise. I bought the material and we planned it all out and I even got my part completed but my mother has not been well this past month with serious back and hip problems. She has been bed ridden quite a bit. I told her to not even worry about the FE. I hate to go buy one online since I spent all that money on the material. Worst case is I just hang a bag up. Maybe I will let the kids decorate something. I am really not going to worry about it at this point. Something quick and easy.
.

Just hang up a bag! I'm sure you have lots of cute ones! If not, I'll bring you a Disney bag! It'll be fine! The least of your worries! Don't buy one, since you already have the material for one.

Hope your mom feels better soon! Pixie dust!

Hello Everyone!

Hope you all had a great weekend. Sounds like everyone was pretty busy.

After just reading through all the posts talking about food, I now need to go grab a snack. I will go get some mixed nuts. I am trying soooo hard to eat healthy foods and not eat junk food. I know it will be harder on vacation but that is how I convince myself now. I just tell myself to save my snacking for vacation. I also need to find time to exercise :yay: but the days are not long enough.

Well, I accomplished quite a bit this weekend. Spent Friday night into Saturday morning searching for material for my paper. Went to bed around 4:30 and then got up in the morning and headed in to the office. No one around and it was nice and quiet. I printed out all the material I found for my paper. Worked on that from about 9:45 - 2:15.

Headed home and then started cleaning. Had the house to myself. Turned up the stereo and got started. Did 4 loads of :laundy:, changed the linens on all the beds, cleaned under frig and stove, scrubbed counters, swept all the floors, cleaned the laundry room and the small bathroom, cleaned the filters and coils on the air cleaner that is connected to the air conditioner/heater unit, and lots more.

Today I went to Walmart to get some things for the trip then came home and picked out and washed most of the kids clothes for the trip. Ironed all the clothes and put the outfits together. I , like Mary, use the Ziploc bags to pack outfits. It is great!!!

So, most of the kids clothes are packed and ready to go. DD packed all the bags in our new rolling duffle bag. We still need to get our regular suitcase down but for now they are at least not all piled up all over the floor.

Once that was done, DD and I got all the FE kids bags out that I had already done and we worked on those. Pretty much went back through them and redid them. So, we are officially done the kids FE bags. Yikes! The storage box is packed to the top. It might cost me a fortune to ship this stuff. I have to think about this. Let's see..if we use 2 suitcases for our things and then a 3rd one for this stuff it will cost me $15 to check the 3rd bag. So, when all is said and done if shipping is under $15 then that would make sense to ship. Can you tell I am tired....I am rambling on and on.

I did buy the Purex sheets. Have not tried them though.

I found the lip balm with SPF 45. Thanks for that tip Mary. I would not have thought of it.

Sorry that I missed the sail away party today. I wish I had remembered because DD and I were in my bedroom working on all this stuff and it would have been fun to show her the boat. Darn. Maybe next week.

Well, I have to get to bed. Meetings with the auditors all week. :scared1: No, it's not too bad actually. And, no need for the mixed nuts now. The hunger pains passed...well, sort of passed.

Have a great Monday. Hope all those that were not feeling are better on Monday.

:flower3:Lisa

OMG, Lisa!! I agree with the others who are tired just reading what you accomplished! CAN YOU COME TO MY HOUSE NEXT!?!! I got this bright idea to try to switch rooms for the little one who is still at home with the middle DS who will be home sort of off and on, while he is visiting the oldest one in NC. He'll be home Friday or Saturday - I must have been out of my mind to think I could finish in time! I think Hurricane Bill arrived early and has hit my house!! Oh wow, there is stuff all over - somebody HELP !!!! :lmao:

I'm with the group that has NOT packed and probably won't until the two days before!! That's just me. I'll still be cruising though - no matter what I look like!

Lisa, I hope your mom feels better! :flower3:

I feel like I must be the only one that isn't packed yet! :rotfl:

We need our summer clothes still...so the packing won't happen until just a few days before the trip. We are driving down but we'll still be packing light, I figured that I can do a couple of loads of laundry at Vero Beach after the cruise. :laundy:

Alex.

If I packed now, I wouldn't have anything to wear!!:rotfl2:
I will be taking stuff out of the drier the am that we leave.
I am not organized at all...I have a list, and I always check everything off, but I am a last minute packer.

I am so tired from the weekend, that I could just sleep right here at my desk.
My 2 year old grandson is a handful...he is a big boy, so muscular and he is strong as an ox! He will do anything he can to get away when it is time to be picked up to eat, or go to bed, or get changed...and he just about kills me.
I don't know how my daughter does it all day every day.

We had two cookouts this weekend and it was so nice...swimming and being with family...the best.

I am counting down the minutes...need a vacation...away from my 2 year old grandson...just kidding...but really, I have never had a child like that. He is going to be a wrestler or a football player or something...

Any ideas on where to get nice bags for my FE gifts? Anyone?

My clock is playing Small World and it is 4pm...YEA, soon time to go..

Hope there are no hurricanes or tropical depressions for our trip...don't like to get sea sick...gotta get more scop patches.

Did I tell you that on our first cruise, we were looking for the doctor's office to get the free sea sick pills...and we made a wrong turn, and there was this big wooden box full of what we thought was dramamine..we pulled out a handful and here it was full of condoms...I was dying...here we were in the ship's crew doctor's area...so be careful where you go.

I was reading something about being able to go to guest services on the ship to get a pass to take the elevator for the fire drill because of my knees...I still can't do stairs very well at all. Anyone know anything about that?

Happy Monday evening to everyone...
Susan

Hello Everyone and Happy Monday.

I hope you are having a great day. It's 84 degrees and sunny...a very nice day.

Well...we took our daughter to college yesterday. Today was the first day without her. I heard from her more today than I have in the last couple of months..:rotfl: She is doing fine. All moved in and ready to go. She starts her volunteer work tomorrow. She found out it will be at a charter school in the city. She is looking forward to it. Classes begin on Monday, August 24th.

I have some of our things laid out for our cruise. But...I have dogs that know what a suitcase is and so I can't bring them out until we take them to the kennel. I am so ready!!!! FE, gifts are done. Now it's just a matter of mailing the package.

:cheer2::dance3::banana:
Congrats to Chris and Dianne for :bride:

Congrats to Flo and Chris for pirate:

Alex.

It takes us about 23 hours drive time from Central Iowa. Like Mary, we haul the first day and take it easy the second day. Drive carefully!

Sneaking a quick break at work. Needed to stop thinking about this audit stuff for a few minutes.

Hopefully I will not get busted for being on here.

You know when I started typing out all the things that I did this weekend I thought to myself...no wonder I am so tired. :lmao:

But, I am sorry to report that when I woke up this morning and looked around the house at all the stuff I cleaned - at least the noticable things. It was no longer clean. And, my bedroom looks like a hurricane hit it. Boxes and bags of FE stuff everywhere. Clothes, toiletries, shoes, and all sorts of things for the trip everywhere. The ironing board is still up and piled high with all sorts of things. The laundry room is piled high with the kids clothes and wet towels from their trip to Rehoboth this weekend. I had a headache :headache: when I went to work today.

Does anyone else have this problem.....you work so hard but never seem to get ahead. :sad2:

And just for the record....I do not have any clothes packed for myself yet. I am not even sure what I will be able to bring. I have been working on a 'life style' change and have lost a little bit of weight...about 20 pounds since I started earlier in the year. :cool1: But I still have a ways to go. So, I am hoping I will be able to pull out a smaller size. :worship: If I could just get that :yay: exercise in my schedule.

My parents are supposed to be joining us in WDW after the cruise...surprise to the kids. Not sure if that will change at this point.

Okay, I really better log off this site. Chat with you all later.

Congrats on the weight loss. That's great. Hope your Mom is feeling better so she can join you after the cruise.

OMG, Lisa!! I agree with the others who are tired just reading what you accomplished! CAN YOU COME TO MY HOUSE NEXT!?!!

I was thinking the same thing! :rotfl:

Susan

You do need a vacation!

That is too funny about what you found. I'm with Flo, I would have been laughing so hard somebody would have had to pick me up off the floor. :rotfl2:

Morning!

See everyone here at about 5:00 as we watch the Wonder sail off.
take care and have a good day.

Darn! I wish I knew about this. We spent most of our time off the DIS because DS and DGF came home for the weekend. We didn't see much of them but could always count on them for breakfast: home-made pancakes on Saturday, French toast on Sunday and their choice for today was French toast again! :goodvibes

Thanks for all the congrats yesterday on the pirate:. I was really surprised cuz the dis boards were being so slow and I couldn't get it to cooperate with me. But, I guess it worked out in the end. ;)

Oh, my, the news just came on and it said that hurricane season is starting up big time. There is Ana and Bill out there. One right behind the other. Hope the hurricane's take a break when we are sailing! :rolleyes1

:flower3:

My best friend who lives on the west coast of FL said there were three tropical depressions in te area and she thought we should cancel our trip! Umm! NO! In 2005 we were dealing with Tropical Depression 16 and it became Hurricane Ophelia. We couldn't go to Port Canaveral. Yeah there is always the risk when cruising during hurricane season.

She has no plans for college. We are trying to talk her in to starting at the community college here in town for two years to get her basic stuff out of the way, and she can live at home, then transfer to a university. She likes Iowa State because it is only about 30-45 minutes away from here. But it will depend on her major. Which she has no idea what she wants to do/be. Probably something to do with the arts.

And you are so right, we don't get older at all, just the kids grow up and catch us! :lmao:

Good morning Member Cruisers!
We sail in 4 weeks!

party:party:party:party:

Chris,

That is smart to take the basic stuff at a community college. Why pay $$$$ to get that done. THis way if she still is un decided it also gives her more time.

take care

It is a good idea to do prep school, community college or something like these. DS went into college with his thoughts of becoming a chemist. Did a good job the first year but the next he told us he wanted to take criminal justice. Two totally different "tracks" and most of the classes weren't transferable!

You sure can. Dh just loves it.

It calls for a baguette, but I use a vienna bread that we can get at the store and it works just great.

1 Baguette, cut into 1/2 inch thick slices
6 Fresh Plum Tomatoes
2 cloves garlic, minced as finley as possible
3 green onions sliced, (I just use purple onion that I have on hand chopped real small)
2 teaspoons Dried Basil or 2 Tablespoons Fresh Basil
3 Tablespoons Extra Virgin Olive Oil - Plus more to brush on bread
Generous amount of freshly ground pepper and Salt

Preheat oven to 450. Brush both sides of bread with olive oil. Toast bread until bottoms are light brown. Turn over and continue toasting. Remove from oven when done and cool.

While bread is toasting, cut up the tomatoes into a fine dice. Remove the gloppy inside from them and discard. Put tomatoes in a bowl with onions, garlic, salt, basil and pepper. Stir to combine. Drizzle with the olive oil. Allow to sit for about an hour before serving.

Yummo!
Sounds like a good recipe except I don't like garlic! I don't mind a little of it but 2 cloves - ewwww!

I did buy the Purex sheets. Have not tried them though.

I found the lip balm with SPF 45. Thanks for that tip Mary. I would not have thought of it.

:flower3:Lisa

OMG! You may me tired just reading your post. :goodvibes Just an FYI - DS used the Purex sheets that wash, rinse and also act like a fabric softener. after 2 washings he started breaking out. As soon as he washed everything with a different detergent he was fine. Just to make sure that was the issue he rubbed a sheet on his arm and it started to swell so you may want to try if before using it.

Can we go now!!!! I don't know about the rest of you, but I am ready to cruise!!!!:cool1::cool1:

When do we find out who we are eating dinner with, or have I already missed it? Someone clue me in!!!

I can't wait to see all of you again. Craig and I are really looking forward to this Member Cruise.

Everyone have a great week!!!:thumbsup2

Carol

My brother has a condo in Flordia about a hour west of Orlando. I am sure as soon as they heard about the hurricane, they turned around and headed home to Missouri!

Thats what they did last year. He just bought it last year. You know part of his early retirement.:rotfl2:

Happy Anniversary Connie & Chuck!

Sorry to hear about your Mom. Don't worry about a fancy fish extender as this is supposed to be fun not stress you or anyone out.

A couple examples I've seen:

  • A canvas bag that had inserts on the outside for pictures. They put all kind of DCL pictures in it and hung it up.
  • A series of gift bags tied together with curling ribbon.
  • A single gift bag that looked like it was decorated by the kids with stickers and crayon drawings.
Any of the above would work or whatever you come up with. It could be a popcorn bucket from the Magic Kingdom, or one of the new eco friendly bags they sell everywhere. I'm sure you will come up with something that is perfect for your family without stressing you out.

Good Morning all, today is a very exciting day.

This morning my DD and DH are boarding a plane. This is DD very first time and is heading for pittsburgh.

Her DH is competing in the National 18 wheeler safety competion. So we are very excited:banana::banana: He won his division in Missouri a few months ago.

:dance3:This competion goes all week, so we wish them the best.:dance3:

Keep your fingers crossed. I wish I could be there. Oh well maybe there will be a next time!
