09/13/09 SSMC09 S.S. Member Cruise 2009 - Part 3!

Good morning everyone - Happy Tuesday. Thanks for all the well wishes.

So... I'm panicking.

I took my kids to the Museum of Science and Industry today, and we had a great time. I packed a lunch, but I got some fries for all of us to share as a treat. When I was on my way home, I stopped at the store and tried to use my debit card and it came up "stolen card." Really? It's mine. So from the time I left the museum, til the time I got home, my card had been compromised and now I do not have a card- and neither does my hubby who is down in Orlando for work this week. Nice. He's traveling and has no card. At least I have the checkbook for groceries. BUT- next week is a holiday week and we leave for our trip. Only planning on using the debit card... and now I won't have one. I'm going to scream bloody murder at the bank tomorrow to see if they can overnight me a new one- UGH!! Could this have happened at a worse time??

Carrie - so sorry to hear this. Hopefully they can get it all worked out quickly.

We were there last year around the 7th to about the 13th,,it was alot of fun and we really enjoyed the decorations and the people we met.


Well a little sad right now, DH has been laid off. He was hired about 3 weeks ago, the company told the hall they had at least work for a year. we'll they were counting on contacts they didn't have ,so back to the hall he goes...number 41 on the list. thats about where he was in May, thats pretty rotten of the company...He would not have accepted the job if he knew it would only last 3 weeks, so now he's back at the bottom of the list.

We usually go in early December and crowds aren't too bad but all the decorations are up and we love them. Went once on 12/28 (needed to stay over one night after our cruise) and it was crazy. Our goal was to see the new (at the time) Stitch ride at Magic Kingdom. Walked through Epcot and it was crazy. Grabbed the monorail and the one on the MK side had a line that wound down the ramp and in the plaza. No problem we'll take the Ferry. That line for that was just as long. So we walked over the Poly and took the small boat from there. Had to wait a little while but at least we could sit and we weren't packed in. We then waited almost 2 hours for Stitch but since that is what we came for we said why not. After that it was back to Epcot and over to the Merry Member Mixer. Probably our most memorable one.

So sorry to hear about your DH being laid off. Hopefully he'll move up the list at the hall quickly and get back to work.

Can anyone tell me for sure how early we can get into the Terminal? We want to try and get in the first load to go aboard, the Indianapolis Colts play their home opener that day and we want to watch the game in the Lounge since we wont be attending the game in person.

They play the Jaguars which is the same game we missed last year at home while we were on the cruise.

I believe the terminal opens at 10 am and boarding starts about 11:30-Noon. If you get there early you should be group 2. Group 1 is for concierge and disabled passengers.

Dianne - So sorry to hear about your DH. That is tuff and Frustrating.

Carrie - Wow that is terrible about the card! I hope you can get it settled this morning with you leaving so soon. Poor DH being in FL and not having a card to use.

I am so happy. I did my on line res at the Boardwalk before the cruise. It was so simple.

Chris - You were right it is so easy.

I can’t believe that I will be there in 9 ½ days.

We have seen some decorations when we were there for Halloween. What a transformation overnight. October 31 was Halloween and when we went back to MK and AK on November 1st they had up Christmas trees! Talk about an overnight change! But we would like to be there to see all the decorations.

Chris- We have been down just prior to Thanksgiving for about 3-4 years in a row and the decorations are beautiful!

When are you out there? This is the first cruise that we will be out there 2 days before. But the air was cheaper and since we were using points for the room it was ok.

I am so excited to stay at the Boardwalk. i hae always wanted to but could afford till DVC.

We did the Dessert Party when we were there in July, it was awesome, I saw recently that they extended it from the ending date of August 31 to sometime on October. It was well worth the money to attend for sure!

We won't be arriving until 11pm Fri and we are heading right over to stay by the Port. We have stayed at BW before and found it one of our favorites. Strolling along the boardwalk at night is awesome as well.

We don't get there Friday till about 8:00. We wanted to try and get a flight that was early but they wanted over 200 to change.

Wow, Michael, thanks for that update. You are always a wealth of information! Do you know if that info is online for reservations?

I've not seen on-line reservations for the dessert party. You would need to call either MS or the main dining line.

Hi Mary, hope you are feeling well - tomorrow will be the end - yea!!! Hope it all goes well and easy for you.

Where do you go the do the online check-in for the resorts, I have not done that before, so I'm excited. Probably could have done it yesterday since we arrive on the 10th.

Flo, I'm glad you are all checked in at Boardwalk. We've been there several times and although I love the resort as a whole, and especially the outside for the Boardwalk, the interior hallways can get a little noisy depending on how crowded it is (or if you have loud neighbors). But I'm sure you'll have a wonderful time!

Carrie - I'm so sorry to hear about your debit card! This happened to DH and I one time when he was away on a scout trip and I was home. The bank notices a "different spending pattern" with it being in two different locations and shut it down to make sure everything was okay and that it was indeed us using it. They told me that anytime you are leaving your normal spending area, especially somewhere like the Bahamas, you should call your bank and tell them when you are leaving and when you will return and they will make that notation on your account. They told me to do that on any card, debit or credit. Especially with identity theft being so rampant these days, I suppose that although it is an inconvenience at the time they did it, hopefully it was just a precaution on their part and not the real thing. Good luck with the bank when you call them.

Dianne, so sorry to hear about DH and his job. Hopefully things will work out soon. That was horrible of the company that hired him to put up a false front like that. I'll keep him in my thoughts and prayers.

Thanks, Michael. We didn't find one either. But we did find some info that said they had raised the price (of course) to $23.95 (i think was the amount). I would have loved to try it, it sounded great, but we can't fit it in our schedule.

Sue, I know what you mean. But we are going to try and fit it in on Saturday night. What a great way to end vacation! Oh, No, not talking about the end already.
