Just making sure, that you can get extra ME tags after the cruise on the ship or at the before mentioned resorts if you need another one for coming home? Like Flo mentioned, we are going down with two bags but may be coming home with three.

Dang airlines for charging for extra bags! :headache: It really limits my packing. But I can do it, hopefully. Last time we flew my bag was at 49 lbs. And 50 lbs was the limit for weight or you would be charged a fee. So I cut it pretty close.

Have a great day! :flower3:

Chris,

It is so funny you said that about your bag. Last time we were at SSR we signed up for magical express even though we rented a car. This way they would go to the airport and we would go to Steven's baseball games. Well we went to check them in and the bag we thought was under weith weight 51 pounds. So we had to play aroudn to get them under so they would check them. They told us they can not check bags that are over 50 pounds.

And from us, too.

One thing we did was get the large rolling duffel bags rather than regular suitcases. I weighed our largest suitcase and it came in at around 20 lbs! The duffel (which we used for our Feb trip home) weighs around 5, and so far has worked well for us. It holds a lot!

Mark, on the right-hand bottom of the box of each reply you will see a couple of buttons. If you click on QUOTE, you can reply to that person's comment. To quote multiple ones, use the "+ button for all but the last quote, then use the QUOTE button for the last quote to be included. Hope that makes sense.

Thanks I hope I did this right we will see when I post lol

My you all have been a chatty bunch. I think the closer the cruise gets the more chatty we will become.

So I've been missing for several months, actually much longer than that. I posted a few messages shortly after we all booked the cruise, but between the two kids, work and back to back college online college courses since December, I have not had much time to follow this thread. I've tried to get caught up, but 5,000 posts is about 1,000 too many for me to read ;).

To recap we have two rooms. My mother-in-law Diana and brother-in-law Chris are in one room, and my wife Tammy, and two children (DS 2 & DD <1) are in the other room. I'll get the details sent over to the appropriate email to make sure we are on the list with the rest of the group.

Does anyone recall if there were many kids on the previous member cruises? This is our fifth Disney Cruise, but the first where we have a child potentially old enough to participate in some of the programs. We're hoping to visit the parks a couple times prior to the cruise to get him a little more used to being around the characters. So far the encounters have been more enjoyed from a distance. We'll get at least one day in next week when we stay at BLT (hope that's the correct acronym).

We're still deciding on whether or not to participate with the fish extenders, but will be sure to get our names in before the 12th if we decide to. Does anyone have a link to pictures of some examples so we can get some ideas?

:woohoo:We're getting excited about the cruise knowing that it is very soon and will try to check in frequently to get to know everyone a little better prior to our voyage.
Welcome back. Hoping to get to know you better. We will be traveling with DS who is also 2. We have already made reservations for him for the Flounders Reef Nusery so that we can go to Palo's for brunch.

In regards to the fish extenders, Flo, already posted a link to the thread that discusses/describes FEs. Here is a link to a thread that talks about FE gifts: http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=2100779 & a link to instructions on a no sew FE: http://www.disboards.com/showpost.php?p=30302583&postcount=609

Congrats to Robbie on the :bride:

Congrats to Sue on the pirate:

Congratulations from me too!

We are getting in on the 10th of September. We have already purchased tickets for the Not so scary Halloween party (which happens to be my FAVORITE thing to do in disney). Thursday when we get in I figure we'll just go to downtown and eat there, hang by the pool Friday during the day and go to the party that night- but Saturday is the day in question. I was thinking Magic Kingdom- but it is soooo expensive if my two year old doesn't cooperate. Then we spent all of that money (that could be used on our cruise for other fun stuff) and me or my hubby will have to go back to the hotel with him. :headache: (Well, realistically it would be him- I'm gonna see the mouse!) Any ideas for back up plans? My husband is ex-military- out for a couple of years now- do they still give military discounts? We only would need them for the day..... I REALLY hope my 2 yr old loves the Halloween thing, and wants to go again the next day- that would be ideal. I guess I'll have to play it by ear?!

At what resort will you be staying? We are staying at the BCV. We will be attending the MNSSHP on Sept. 11. We have already purchased our tickets through DVC. DS is 2. We went to Disney in Feb. he loved the characters. I am hoping he still will when we are there in Sept.
When we went in Feb. my uncle, who is retired military, was able to get a 5-day park hopper with option ticket for free and also purchase 5 5-day park tickets for $99. DH & I added the park hopper option to our tickets for an additional $25. This is called Salute to the Military (I believe) and is available for all active or retired military until December.

:eek: oh no!! I am kicking myself now to have book Vero Beach for after the cruise instead of a WDW property..I didn't think Halloween celebration would be already on!!
I wonder if I could switch..??

Great tip!! My oldest dd sent herself a princess postcard during one of our Disney World visits. It arrived after we got home, but it was such a nice surprise and souvenir for her.
I will keep that in mind for Castaway Cay!
Thanks,

Zip-A-Dee-Doo-Dah Tip Of The Day

A great inexpensive souvenir of your trip is a postcard from Castaway Cay. It will even be stamped with a CC postmark. Two things to remember.

1) Bring cash with you onto the island. Unlike everything else on board you can't use your KTTW card to purchase postage here. Bring small bills if possible.

2) Be patient once you get home. The mail moves on "island time" mon so it may take a while to get to you.

Same with me..found the board when we first booked the cruise too, then life got in the way!!

We are really looking forward to the cruise as well, we talked about it every day now.

Our kids are 12, 10, and 5 and are so excited!

Hello All. This past weekend we did not do much. I did manage to make FE gifts for some of the children who will be on the cruise. I still need to get a FE and make FE gifts for the boys and adults. Hopefully, I will be able to make some this weekend.

Tonight, my neighborhood will be participating in National Night Out events in our development. I am looking forward this event. The theme is luau sos we will have limbo and hula hoop contests for children and adults. The volunteer fire department will come to do a wet down for the children and the volunteer rescue squad comes to the neighborhood to give ambulance rides. It is a fun event. I am looking forward to it.

The ones that have ** in front of them have one adult in the room. The ones that have *** have 3 adults in the room and the ones that have **** have 4 adults in a room.

So far there are 32 cabins.

Carrie,

Were are you staying when you come in? We are flying out of O'Hare on Friday mied afternoon and Staying at the Boardwalk for 2 nights. I have always wanted to stay there and DVC makes that possible.

Take care

:surfweb:

Hey Flo,
I LOVE the Boardwalk- stayed there a looong time ago when we did a big family vacation. It was great. We have reservations at the Animal Kingdom, but I actually think we are going to stay off site this time- at the Hilton accross from Downtown Disney. My husband will be there for work stuff, so might as well let them pick up the tab, right?! HA!!

I was sooo happy to find out about that party starting in September. I usually go to disney the first or second week in October, and I expect it to be around then- I was like a kid in a candy store when I saw it started just in time for our cruise!!

Thanks for the info! We used all of our points for the cruise, so while I have reservations at the Animal Kingdom, I will be cancelling those. My husband has some work to do when we get down there, so we are going to stay at the Hilton accross from downtown disney so that they can pick up the tab, since AK would have been out of pocket, rather than on points.

We were ion disney last November, when my DS would have been just about 2, and he freeaked out. To the point that we did not get passed the Crystal Palace, and my husband took him back to the hotel. I stayed with our baby and my daughter. Since then, we have become obsessed with all things Mickey so that my son really looks forward to going on Mickey's boat.... is knows all of the characters now, and seems to be all into it-so I am hoping it all works out for us in September! I have such high hopes for this trip!! My daughter has been to Disney so many times, that I know she will enjoy it- altough I think she is mostly looking forward to the kids clubs and being away from *gasp* her parents!!

Which brings up another question. When kids go in and out of the club- I know they can be signed in and out, or they can come and go as they please. At what age would you reccommend coming and going as they please, or would it be wiser if she was signed in/out? I was thinking about getting those walkie-talkie things so that we could stay in contact.... thoughts/opinions/words of wisdom??

Ideas for fish extenders, please....

What are some favorite things that you have given or received? :woohoo:

Ok, really- I MUST go to work now!!!

Talk to you later!

We were there on a Monday on our Eastern July 4. The day we were there the Post Office was closed, and it was not a weekend, either.

I work on Thursday and I'll find out if it will be open for us. Connie

And THANKS, EVERYBODY, FOR THE BIRTHDAY WISHES! Connie

YOU ARE SO RIGHT! I bought a set of 2 hard sided suitcases because I thought they were light weight, and they have the 4 wheels on the bottom, but I HATE THE WAY THEY OPEN TO PACK! They unzip in the middle, and then both sides open like a book, well, stuff falls all over.....I am going to be using them for storage and buying another big rolling duffle like the one we already have...its' teh BEST!
