09/12/10 - DVCers Take Over the Wonder (S.S. Member Cruise 2010) - Thread #1

HI EVERYONE WE ARE BACK FROM WDW, SPENT A WEEK THERE. BOY WAS IT BUSY STARTING SAT. WELCOME MICKEYPHILE I GOT JOINED THIS GROUP A FEW WEEKS AGO AND HAVE FELT VERY WELCOME. HOPE TO SEE YOU ON THE SHIP. IT WILL BE OUR 4th MEMBER CRUISE. TOMORROW MORNING I HAVE TO CALL DVC AND MAKE A COMPLAINT. BETWEEN OKW AND JET BLUE THEY LOST SOME OF OUR LUGGAGE.
WE STAYED IN 2 BEDROOM AT PENNINSULAR VERY NICE BUT THERE IS ONLY 1 ENTRANCE INTO LAUNDRY ROOM AND MAIN BATHROOM. AT FIRST WE DIDNT THINK THAT WAS A PROBLEM , BUT THE DIDNT LOCK THE FURNACE DOOR IN LAUNDRY ROOM SO WHEN WE CLOSED THE LAUNDRY ROOM DOOR WITH OUR CLOTHES INCLUDING MOST OF OUR WET SHOES THE FURNACE DOOR POPPED OPEN AND WE COULDNT GET BACK IN ROOM. SOOOOOOOO WE WAITED AND WASTED TIME WAITING FOR MAINTENANCE TO FIX THE PROBLEM, FINALLY WE WENT OUT WITH BASICALLY SANDALS OR WE WOULD HAVE WASTED HOURS WAITING. I DONT KNOW HOW THEY GOT IN THERE THE HINGES AND EVERYTHING ELSE WAS ON THE INSIDE. WELL ANYWAYS IT WAS STILL A GREAT TRIP.

Scott - I'm glad to know that I'm not the only one who struggles with my kids' homework (and Junior Achievement) lol!! My son is only in 4th grade and I've had to look things up online before. It would have been GREAT to have the internet when we were in school...the only resources we had were the library and an old set of encyclopedia's. I hope your family gets over the flu soon!

So, I have some WONDERFUL news to share today. First I got a call from the manager at the Disney Store asking me if I can start working there this coming Sunday. (Of COURSE!!!) Then about an hour later, my old employer called me back to work! I'm so excited I just can't hide it I'm about to lose control and I think I like it.

I will be making $5 more PER HOUR than what I'm making right now. Seriously, I'm so excited I feel like my whole body is going to explode and I've got butterflies in my stomach like a 16 year old girl going on her first date would have. I can't stop smiling, and I want to stand outside and scream "WOO-HOO" as loud as I can.

What great news!!!

Ian - Sorry to hear about the maintenance issue at OKW....one time when we checked in we had some maintenance issues and it took forever for them to come and do whatever repairs needed to be done. It was ok, though, because we were just planning on hanging out in the room that evening anyways.

Ian, sometimes those DVC pins show up on Ebay...you could check there. OR maybe try to call Member Services and see if they would be able to find out how you could get one.


Everyone else - just thought I'd remind you that if you are wanting to make any dining reservations for AFTER the cruise, tomorrow is the first day to make those reservations. Or...if you want to get technical....I think it would be tonight at midnight online.

IT WAS SO NICE TO BE IN MK AN HOUR BEFORE PARK OPENED, I WALKED QUICKLY AROUND TO GET SOME SHOTS WITH THE EARLY SUN AND NO ONE THERE EXCEPT A FEW CAST MEMBERS AND A COUPLE OTHER GUESTS. THAT WAS AT 8am PARK OPENED AT 9AM. I WALKED UP ON THE BACK OF THE STAGE TO TAKE THE SHOT OF AN EMPTY MAIN STREET.

I WOULD DO THAT MORE OFTEN IF I COULD ITS WAS VERY RELAXING LISTENING TO THE MORNING SOUNDS IN MK. THIS MAY SOUND CORNY BUT I WAS ABLE TO STAND NEAR WALTS STATUE AND JUST THINK ABOUT WHAT HE HAS CREATED WITHOUT HEARING ALL THE OTHER PEOPLE AND BEING BUMPED. I THINK EVERYONE THAT VISITS WDW SHOULD GO OVER TO DHS AND WALK THRU ONE MANS DREAM, TO ME ITS AMAZING!!!!!!

Good Morning Everyone! I have been MIA the last few days. Work has been keeping me busy. I hope everyone is doing well and experiencing the nice weather the East Coast is experiencing. I am so happy it is sunny out. We have been enjoying the weather and playing outside with DS.

Thank you for posting this. I was coming on here to remind everybody. I think we will make reservations for a BOMA breakfast. That has become our tradition.

I will be making an ADR for breakfast at Boma. We have eaten there every visit since becoming members. DH really loves it. I also want to make dinner reservations at 'Ohana's. We really enjoyed our meal last time.

2. What is your favorite restaurant(s) at WDW & why?
For DH, Boma for breakfast is his fav. I like Cape May Cafe for breakfast because of the characters and the food. We love breakfast so that is an important meal for us.

3. Is there any restaurant at WDW where you would like to dine but haven't?
I would like to experience Chef Mickey's. But, I must admit that I am a novice when it comes to dining at WDW.

HI MARSHA, I TOOK MY SON ON THE KEYS TO THE KINGDOM TOUR FOR 9am, BUT WE ARRIVED AT 8am SOOOOOOOO I CHECKED IN AND DECIDED TO WALK AROUND FOR AN HOUR.
TO ANSWER YOUR QUESTIONS.

1. WE ALWAYS BOOK AHEAD FOR BOMA , EVERY TRIP WE DO BOMA.

2. BOMA MIGHT BE ONE OF OUR FAVOURITES BUT WE HAVE A FEW, LIKE MAMA MELROSE OR OLIVIAS, OR SANAA OR THE DINNING AREA AT THE MORRACAN PAVILLIAN DEPENDS ON WHAT WE ARE IN THE MOOD FOR. EVEN THOU BOMA IS BUFFET WE ENJOY THE GREAT FOOD AND ATMOSPHERE AT AKL BUT WE HATE ANY OF THE CAFETTERIA STYLE PLACES. MAMA MELROSE HAS GOOD ITALIAN FOOD AND ITS KIND OF HIDDEN BEHIND MUPPETS 3D. THIS TRIP WE PURCHASED THE TABLES IN WONDERLAND AND ITS ALMOST PAID FOR ITSELF ALREADY.

3. I WOULD LIKE TO TRY VICTORIAS AND ALBERTS, FLYING FISH, AND THE GARdeN RESTAURANT AT LaND PAVILLION AT EPCOT, JUST CANT REMEMBER THE NAME.

I actually made mine this morning. We are dining at Le Cellier on 9/16 for dinner! And then at Chef Mickey's on 9/17 for dinner!

Our Favorite Restaurant is Mama Melrose because you get a lot of food for the price.


3. Is there any restaurant at WDW where you would like to dine but haven't?

I would like to dine at California Grill because of the view.

We also booked the Segway Tour at EPCOT for Friday morning.

Marsha - boy when someone asks you a question they SURE get a thorough response! Before I started my addiction...I mean reading....the DISboards, I thought people would think I was crazy if I took pictures of food and menus....now I realize that's nothing new to everyone here on the DISboards!

Ian - I'm with you on flying in on Sept. 11th. My husband doesn't think anything of it. I'm not necessarily afraid to fly that day, but I just feel like if I choose to fly that day I'm kind of dis-respecting those who lost their lives that day. I know that sounds weird, but it's just how I feel.

On a HAPPIER note...my daughter did an EXCELLENT job at her tutoring session today! I'm sooooo proud of her!!!!
