Another school day off for the blistering cold, the state was declared an emergency. We found out last night we won't have to make up our school days now, first in 15 years. The countdown is on for the Fantasy!

That is so wonderful! Our last day of school was originally going to be the 16th, so I thought when I booked I had a nice cushion. Now that we've had 7 snow days,(we've made up one) I'm not so sure! Hoping some of the President's Days etc. will be used for make-up days!!

We went on our first Disney cruise over Thanksgiving, and while on board we reserved for this Fantasy cruise. I saw all sorts of the FE on board and thought that would be so much fun for my son. Also, I saw on a sheet that you have the names of the kids who will be going to the Edge, and almost cried. lol. Let me explain...our son has had problems with bullying in school so this last trip was supposed to be an escape for him, and well he ended up being bullied in the Edge. The staff took care of it, but it broke my heart. When I saw this list I thought if we may know one or two kids in the club then maybe he can fit in a little better. He is just the most loving, sweetest child, not one of the "cool kids" types, and gets picked on it because of his emotional loving side. So...how does all this work lol. I understand the concept of the FE, but not the ins and outs...like do you deliver at certain times, or certain dates, and I guess I am not at all crafty so are there places to get ideas?? I would LOVE any help you all could give me.

Hi Becky! Take a look at the third tab on the sheet for links to good info on FE Exchanges. There's a link to a thread on FE gifts to help you with ideas. Basically we'll split the list into several groups to keep things manageable. You'll deliver at least one gift to each stateroom in your group. Some people deliver a gift per stateroom, some deliver several. Some deliver a gift per person in the stateroom. It's completely up to you. You can deliver anytime that's convenient to you as long as you're done before noon on the last day so folks can start packing up their goodies.

If you search for Fish Extender or FE on etsy you may get some ideas also.

I'll let others with kids that are your son's age to chime in on getting some conversation going pre-cruise.

Oh, I wish! We are on our 3rd snow day this week, and we have to make them all up. At this point, my kids will be missing at least 2 days of school. I can't bring myself to change this trip though. Booked the room I wanted on opening day, and it would be at least $2000 to change to even a week later for the cheapest room. I don't think they usually do anything except games and turn in books the last few days of school anyway. Hoping spring shows up soon!!!

Ugh--another snow day for us today, though there is no snow on the ground! Just enough sleet to make the roads slippery. If my kids were both in elementary/middle school, I wouldn't think twice about having them miss a few days at the end of school. Unfortunately, I've got a high-schooler now that would be missing finals(if our make-up days are rescheduled to right before the cruise) I might be able to talk some of the teachers into allowing him to test early, but I had to do that over Christmas break when they used a Christmas vacation day as a make-up day and we were scheduled to leave for a ski-vacation. It's hard to get sympathy when we've already had one vacation & I'll be claiming an "educational absence" in February to visit DW. I'm likely to be told maybe we shouldn't travel so often...

This is only our 2nd DCL cruise, and my first time as part of a group on DIS. Do you ever have meet ups for the kids, so people who have kids the same age can make some friends from the start??
