05/24-05/31/14 - The Disney Fantasy, (Bob) Marley and Me on The FANTASTICAL VOYAGE!

Our DD will turn 11 3 days before we leave! Gonna celebrate on board, or so I've told her so I can get out of throwing a big party beforehand! :). So cool that they have the same birthday! She's excited to have the option of checking out Edge on this cruise.

As an FYI, our DD will almost be 11 at cruise time ( a month short...)

Always nice to have cruise friends the same age!

This is great! I have two boys that will be 11 and 12 on the cruise. Hopefully they can all meet and have a great time together on the cruise. :)

So good to hear!! My DD will be 11 at cruise time too, she's excited about checking out the Edge. My DN is also traveling in a different cabin and will be 11 too!! The girls will have a blast I'm sure!

Question about FE. Am I understanding that we will not find out exact numbers until about April? Do any of you begin purchasing gifts before then and just estimate? Trying to spread out the spending.

It's so cool that our group has so many kids about the same age! My October cruise is kind of the same, we have a huge group of boys in the 9 - 11 range. I'm sure they will all have a great time exploring a new club together! :)

I don't remember if we've set any specific cut-off dates yet for this cruise. I've been busy preparing for my October one. I know we set a date about 6 weeks ahead for a cut-off for it. But we decided a while ago to cap the number of rooms for each list, so that we knew how many rooms would be the max. I made all my gifts, so I started making them, and then just finished up when I knew the exact numbers. I don't know if that really answers your question though....I'm still new to FE...October is my first time participating.

I have never been a part of such a large group before, but it is my understanding that we will be grouped with a max of 20 rooms?? Was wondering myself if it is acceptable to overflow gifts to another group if we have the extra to go around. FE was one of my & DD's favorite part of the cruise. We even left gifts for those not participating!

Very excited to have booked this cruise today and finally settle on what our family wants to do next summer! Hoping our school district won't have a whole lot of snow days that would require adding make-up days to the end of the calendar. Right now our last day is scheduled to be May 16th, so hopefully we'll be OK on the dates.

We love to travel as a family, and have come to the conclusion that only a cruise vacation makes each of us 100% happy. After our Dream cruise in 2012, the kids are dedicated Disney fans, even the picky teenager!

I'm sure no one will complain getting a gift from ya!!! ;) Or two (hint, hint)....

I'm leaving it to our fearless leader, JohnPA, to field the response to the questions about FE. He is the warrior, and really just a true veteran of FE management. He comes to us decorated with at least two, possibly three prior stints as a highly paid, highly respected organizer.

(John---is that enough cake for ya? More icing you say??? Well.....)

I trust every ounce of JohnPA's judgement. He will lead us to FE NIRVANA!!!

Sounds AWESOME :cool1:!! I would venture to say that our group of 4 will be in :thumbsup2.
I soo want to do this!
Guess I was so excited I forgot all the important stuff on my earlier post:

Celebrations during the cruise: End of school year and possibly first trip to WDW for DS - still undecided but I think it's time!
Dining: Late and love it!
Participate in FE: Maybe - have the prior 2 cruises but still undecided
Prior Disney cruises/ships: Dream 6/12; Wonder 2/13. This will be our 3rd DCL cruise and I am now addicted thanks to my cousins who introduced this to me last year when I got a last minute special to join them.
A few words: DS is very outgoing and loves new friends and it appears that there are many DS's in the 5-7 age range which will be awesome! I look forward to getting to know all of you over the next 11 months and it looks like there are many of my fellow Missouri residents joining us!
Welcome to you and the show me state will show up with the fun!!
And here is our daughter and her family. Is there a way to make it smaller? I'm new to this posting pictures thing.:confused3

i love the photo

Let's bump this group back up to page one :cool1:!! I hope everyone is having a good summer and is anxiously anticipating our cruise as much as I am :). We have been busy getting Jake ready to head to Kent State in a few weeks to begin his Master/PhD program in Physics. I know that there will be lots and lots of tears in the next few weeks, as I will miss him terribly . He is a pretty great kid, as some of our previous cruise DIS friends know :thumbsup2. We have Brian's brother and his family coming in soon for a two week stay; staying at our house where other family members will be converging :crowded:. Maybe I should run away and cruise NOW ::yes::!!!!
sounds good to me! Im game!

After much debating and delays, I finally booked this cruise last week using our dummy and came to look for this thread tonight.

A few words about you and your group:
Disney cruises are my "happy place". Looking forward to going back on the upgraded Magic next after this cruise. Would love a Med cruise someday, but the airfare was crazy.
welcome!

We're just a couple of weeks away from our WDW vacation. Can you say "YOU'RE NUTS!". I know, right? Super hot, humid and CROWDED. But it's the only time our cohorts in crime can take off since they have kids in college and the one that graduated became a teacher! He should have known that would screw up his Disney vacations.:rotfl: I prepurchased the Photopass+ for our group. I think that should work well. The teacher is bringing his GF down, and it's her first time, so I figured we should get as many photos as possible.

Then we have an Eastern Caribbean Fantasy cruise in November. Not doing any of the planning for that one. And no FE either. But we're part of the WDW Radio Podcast group, so we'll get to talk with Ridley Pearson, author of the "Kingdom Keeper" series.

Just before that, in September, we'll be welcoming our second grandchild, a boy! DS Jake and wife are having their first. Already planning his and our 2 year old granddaughter's first trip to the World.

Other than that, nothing's going on. (and yeah, I'm starting to pack for the trip in two weeks.)
I hope your trip was great! And i love the kingdom keepers books read them all!
That sounds like fun! I'm actually reading those books right now. I know...meant for kids, but they are fun. And since we've never been to Disney, I thought maybe by the time we go, I'll have some idea about what is in the parks. :) I'm on book 5 now, the one on the ship...can't wait until they go on the cruise!

Congrats on the grandbaby! That must be really exciting!
love the books, but i go through withdraw every time i finish!

Personally, if you're in my group, forget the mini bottles and give me a BIG ol' bottle of rum!

I do understand that it can be a touchy thing. Some folks have worked hard to stay away from spirits, or don't imbibe for other reasons and then there's the problem with kids stealing them.

So to again answer the question without jumping on a soapbox (enough of that in the other thread), I have no problem if I receive 'the demon rum'! ;)
Give it! Just maybe put it in a paper bag so people walking by dont see what it is. But then again, if they need it that bad then take it.
I just booked this cruise! We are a family of 5, my husband, myself, dd(12), ds(10), ds(7). This will be our second cruise, we did the Magic in May of 2012. So excited about cruising on the Fantasy. We would like to be included in the FE exchange. Our room # is 8012.
welcome

We just got started with pin trading on our trip to DL. The kids really liked it. My problem is that I don't want to get rid of anything. :rolleyes1
Us either
I'm putting together a display myself for our Disney themed bedroom. I took a large corkboard and sprayed the cork and frame black. Will try to be creative on it.

I am so addicted to pins that I left Palo before the dessert to go to the officer's swap. I'm reminded again and again by everyone that I missed out on the chocolate soufflé.....perhaps if history repeats itself one of my family members will get it 'to go'!
hell no i will eat two of those before leaving withbone for you!:lmao:

Leaving tomorrow for 8 days at the World. I'll keep tabs on what's happening here, but probably won't do any updates to the spreadsheet until we get home. So bear with me please.
safe trip!

Oh and totally forgot to tell you all, although we don't really KNOW each other . . . but last Wednesday I decided to do some interval training on the bike at the gym at work. Only got about 3 minutes done and . . . BAM - heart attack. OK, it was minor, but it was still a heart attack. They put in a stent and I'm A-OK with no restrictions. In fact, after the echocardiogram, the doctor reading it said that if he wasn't told that I had a heart attack, he wouldn't have known. I got out Saturday morning and was back at work this Monday. NOT EVEN A HEART ATTACK will keep me from Disney!

Got the OK to take vacation, and I'm feeling fine, although the meds sometimes mess with me by lowering my already healthy (120/76) blood pressure down a bit.

Everyone said I was doing the right thing by exercising. I've been eating 'paleo' for 10 months and after the first 2 weeks, my acid reflux disappeared and I have not taken an antacid the entire time. I've dropped 30 pounds and feel great. I wish I had done this 20 years ago and I wouldn't be in trouble now.

So that's my tale. I'm going to have some fun now!
John, tony told me about this. I am so glad you are okay! Our thoughts and prayers are with you. Just be carefull!
Hi . It's been a while since I posted in here. I have to update our info but, I wanted to reach out with a couple of questions....

Anyone on the boards going to DW prior to the cruise? I believe we are going to be there for 10 days before ( staying at AofA- daughters choice so, I guess I'm okay that she wants to go on the cheap side. We were there last year when parts of it first opened (that time we stayed at POP, for the 2nd time)

Also, is there a group started for the 18-21 yr olds yet? This will be our 6th time on DCL but, my daughter is a little weary of being at that in between age.

I look forward to getting to know you guys and having a wonderful vacation next year. Julie
disney world for two days and the one water park. As far as a plan for magic kingdom....ask the people in your group what is the most important ride that they go on, then make sure you get to them, and then go at a slow pace and bask in walts legacy.

Yeah, we have never been as a family because honestly, running around parks isn't my idea of a relaxing vacation however, I loved MK the one time I was there many years ago and would like to take the boys before they get much older.

Glad to know I may not be the only one taking them out a day or two early. ;)
this is a must!

I'll try to keep the groups to 20 rooms or less, hopefully 15 or so. HOWEVER, there is always a latecomers group because I just can't say no when someone wants to join after the cutoff. What I've done in the past is let folks from the established groups ALSO join the latecomers group so it gets more people. Almost backfired last cruise when the latecomers group grew to the size of the original groups. Still, we had a blast. If you WANT to be in all groups, NO PROBLEM! But I'd wait to see how many folks we pick up in the remaining months. We're still quite a ways out from the cruise.

AW GAWRSH! But what's this about getting paid? You still holding my paycheck from the cruise in 2012? Hmmmmm?

OH! By the way! Jake's wife delivered 3 weeks early. Grandchild number 2 and first grandson was born just about an hour and half ago! He doesn't know it yet, but he's going to WDW next year with his cousin!

Congrats! Your first grandson! So cool! That is awesome. Now you can share the love over two genders! Grandpa get to buy all the cool boy stuff and grandma can pick out the frilly girl stuff! Can't ask for more than that! Yea! That will heal a heart fast!?

It's been quite a while since I stopped in. Had a very busy summer - spent the majority of it in New Hampshire on a lake enjoying cabin life.
School starts for our kids tomorrow; ds starts kindergarten and dd starts middle school.
Also busy planning our January vacation to the World - had planned on a Poly CL stay but hearing rumors that there is construction going on so perhaps need to rethink that.
Our cruise seems to be filling up quickly!
Hope all have been well and had a great summer! I am ready for Fall - its my favorite season!

Hi everyone,

I booked the May 24th Fantasy cruise last week. I am taking my mom to celebrate the end of grad school. I booked a verandah room on deck 8 (the same room we had on our first Fantasy cruise), and will also be sailing on the May 17th Eastern Caribbean. Can't wait for May!!

Hey guys, TheHannas checking in. Not sure if we did already but just wanted to ask a question. Our son didn't really do the clubs last cruise and we were wondering if any of the kids going on our cruise are talking before hand? Kinda getting to know each other. If so, do they use "face time" or "PS3 online"? Thanks guys. Will try to follow along and keep up with the thread. Not going to do fe this time around but cool to talk to some of you before the cruise. Oh and our son will be in Edge I think (12yrs).
