That's a hoot! I figured we could sleep in deck chairs on deck 10, but lifeboats sounds so much more cozy. :)

We will see you on the train!!! I guess we will get a cab to the station too! Right now in Seattle we are staying at the Westin. They have a service to take you to the airport. Our flight isn't until 10:55 AM so we will be able to sleep in a little bit ;) But, we won't get into Philadelphia until 11:00 PM that night. :scared1:

Georgie - sounds like you have a significant layover somewhere!

We were also in the "lifeboat suite" on the first Panama Canal Cruise!:lmao:

This is very cute!

Q - How are you planning on getting over to the train station from the ship? Then we have to figure out how to get from the train station in SEA to our hotel. Getting in late at night is not my first choice, but it is what it is. :rotfl2:

What hotel are you staying at? I could probably give you a suggestion.

Once we get to Seattle I thought I might take a cab to the airport to pick up our car rental. We're staying in Seattle for three nights before flying home.

The airport is a good distance from the train station, and the fare is about $30 for this trip. Instead of a taxi, right next to the Seattle Amtrak station is a station for the Link light rail service. On that page's map, the Amtrak station is at the same location as the commuter rail station. And the fare is $2.50.

Thanks for that info. It's very helpful.:goodvibes

We're on the train too and flying out of Seattle because of the savings in airfare.

We booked Air Canada from Vancouver to Philadelphia, with a reasonable layover in Toronto. The cost was much cheaper that having to book the train, and spend an extra night in a hotel. You might want to check into this option ... as none of the airfare search engine provided us with a layover through Toronto. It seems most options have us going from Vancouver into the US, before out ultimate destination. :cloud9:

Anyone know how far out Southwest Airlines books. Went to their website and it's only to Sept.
Not for this cruise, have my air, but next in December.
American has no, and hasn't had any, 12,500 miles one way seats. Already have the 12,500 seats for my way back. I thought I would try Southwest but don't know their rules on when flights get posted.
Tried their phone number and get recording saying they are too busy go to their web! Couldn't find it their. American is something like 331 days out.
Thanks....

That would suggest a 6 month window ... which is what I thought I remembered it to be.

SWA opened yesterday fo up to Nov 5th, I believe.

We booked last July and got JFK to LAX direct for $200/pp on Virgin America and SEATTLE to JFK direct for $200/pp on American Airlines.

The last time and only other time we flew from the west coast we did a red eye direct from Vegas to Newark on Continnental. My husband hates flying. We swore we would never do it again. So we have daytime flights this time on hopefully nicer airlines.

For us it doesn't matter where we fly in/out of.....we're an hour+ away from Phili, NYC, Newark. The only place closeby to us is ABE Allentown Bethlehem Easton or Lehigh Valley and that's 30 miles away. The only direct flights out of ABE are to Florida....hahaha.

I just posted this on the Vancouve FAQ thread, but thought I should cross post it here just in case!

For those who are thinking of flying out of Bellingham or Seattle after their cruise, my DH & I found that Avis does a reasonable rental one way rental from YVR (the Vancouver airport) to the Bellingham or Seattle airport locations. From the cruise terminal, one can take the Canada Line to YVR so you don't necessarily have to taxi it to YVR.

Our one way rental from YVR to the Bellingham Airport was under $100 and I just checked and from YVR to Seattle, it's around $160 for a compact (that's without any discounts). It may be cheaper for some to do that than take the train or any shuttles. (We're doing this to fly down to LA out of Bellingham).

Hi all - just popping in to check to see what I might be missing!
