02/12/2012 4 Night Dream Valentine's Cruise - The Love Boat Sails Again !

This will be us very VERY soon! ------------> :boat:

Just checking in to see if anyone else is jumping out of their skin with excitement like I am???!!!!!:yay:
I know I am!! I am so excited to be on a totally new ship and discover it. This is my "preview cruise" for my 5 night on the Dream in May, that I am taking my parents on for their anniversary. I want everything to be just perfect when I take them so I booked this trip to get the lay of the land, familiarize myself with the different spaces, likes/dislikes so I have everything in mind when I take them. I am not even getting off in Nassau so other than CC day I plan on soaking up every minute on board the ship!!! So ready to leave now!

We are woking on our FE gifts right now!!!:thumbsup2

:yay: I love it when it gets this close :yay:

Anyone else plan on re-booking on board for the Fantasy?? This will be our 2nd cruise and only on 4 nighters so I'm ready for a longer one!

No but looking at the Med for 2013, possibly the 12 night to Venice ...even though there is so much repetition from 2011 ...that said, very disappointed with what came out today........I get the sinking feeling that Disney have not read the market on this one yet again (as per previous years), and there will be changes and discounts again nearer to the end of the year.:sad2:....they'd better get their finger out and start marketing in Europe properly ...even now most people in the UK have no idea about DCL...and yet WDW is soooooo popular here !

I am trying to convince my hubby to book a 7 day Eastern Caribbean on the Fantasy in October 2013... still working on him but hoping after a day on board, he won't resist!

Anybody watch TLC's Cake Boss last night? It was about them renewing their vows on the Dream. They also made a huge replica Dream cake. It was pretty neat and just gets us more excited!!!

I'm also looking to book the 12 night med but the one that goes to Greece. I had mixed feelings about was revealed today. I was more than happy with the Med option because it was exactly what I was hoping for, a long cruise with at least 2 countries I haven't been to, and this one has 3 i haven't been to (Spain, Turkey, Greece). Plus, it falls over my birthday which is an added bonus. However, I was also hoping that DCL was going to do either Bermuda cruises or different Carib ports or longer cruises to Southern Carib or even South America, but none of those came up. I would have booked at least one of those in addition to the Med one I'm planning to book, but oh well. I'm just hoping that when we get on board in a couple weeks I can rebook the med I'm booking this week and still get a cheaper rate, since I don't have a dummy cruise to use for it right now : (

I was also disappointed about the sailings for 2013. I was hoping for southern caribbean since the wonder will be in Miami and maybe a northern capitals cruise departing from the UK like they had a few years back.....selfish cause I really wanted to go on that one and missed out :sad2:

We did the Med last may/June and loved it! We are also interested in the Greece sailings for 2013. The best part is that we'd be GOLD Castaway Club by then! Hoping for good on board savings.......

ME!!! This is my first cruise, and I am soooooo excited!

Possibly. I definitely want to book a 7-night (because I'm pretty sure 4 nights is NOT going to be long enough), but I can't decide if I want the Fantasy or the Magic (and I really want to see the Magic's shows).

We're getting so excited. Can't believe that it's almost here! Finished my FE gifts yesterday and now to start thinking about packing. :)

See everyone soon!!

I have some info I got about our cruise tonight that I thought others might be interested in - "Hi, my name is Michelle and I am an obsessive Disney planner." :rotfl:

So here it is in no particular order:

The agent told me that ALL cruisers will have a rotation in which the 3rd and 4th night are the same -- which fits with what many have posted before me.
We were hoping for the duplicate restaurant to fall on the 3rd night since we have Remy reservations for Feb 14th (Valentine's Day ...Awww!) and this way, we will get to experience all three restaurants plus Remy's. Sounds perfect to me :yay:

I asked about the Movies playing on our cruise and was told the following would be showing -
War Horse
Real Steel
Cars 2
Muppets
The Help
POC - OST

She thought that the new Beauty and the Beast 3D movie would be off by then :(

Finally, I asked her about booking the Wonder and the Magic new itinieraries and she said you MUST CALL tomorrow and cannot book online - starting at 8 am EST.

Hope this helps others....just trying to spread pixie dust :goodvibes

gichicdoc -- Thanks so much for posting the info! I've been lurking but decided to come out of the woodwork because I really am getting super excited about the upcoming cruise! There are a few movies we haven't seen and it's perfect that I can bring my kids while on board.

I'm a newbie and I'm still learning from all the DCL enthusiasts here on the board. I just hope we can take experience as much as we can on our rookie cruise, and possibly sign up for a our 2nd one onboard!

Not sure what the weather is like in the area right now, but I'm keeping my fingers crossed that we'll be able to experience some decent weather on CC! I plan to run the 5K and the kids cannot wait to make a huge splash on the beautiful beach.

15 Days gang!! :banana::yay::cool1:

Since this is our 1st cruise, any packing tips from veteran cruisers? Has anyone used Sea bands for motion sickness? Do they help or work?

Can't wait to meet everyone!! :cheer2:

I have never used Sea Bands but I am prone to motion sickness and on my first cruise used nothing and suffered for it. The cruise was still great but I always had that queasy feeling. I since researched it and heard about Bonine, which is a non-drowsy version of Dramamine, and take that twice a day every day of the cruise, and I am absolutely fine. I still feel the ship movement but it doesnt make me sick, but I can tell I would be sick if I hadn't taken the bonine. It is available at CVS and has a generic version which is even cheaper and works just as well, won't cruise without it now!

We have spent 33 nights onboard the Disney Magic (and are "going for gold" with our first short cruise!) and one of the best hints we were ever given is to bring an over-the-door shoe holder to put on one of your bathroom doors to store all the bits and pieces that can be hard to find otherwise. We use ours to store sunscreen, hair brushes, cameras, toys etc. We also bring suction hooks to put on the mirror where we hang our lanyards that have our Key to the World cards (they give you the lanyards when boarding once you are a Castaway Club member, ie. have cruised before with Disney, but you can buy them on board as well). I have also made it a habit to bring a plastic folder (like the kind you can get at Micheals for scrapbooking) and put all our Navigators and other souvenir items in it. It keeps them all together, you don't lose anything and it keeps your stateroom neat!
Hope this helps!!!

Great tips!

Mental note for shopping:
1. over-the-door shoe holder
2. plastic folder
3. suction hooks
4. bonine
5. photo mattes
