01/07/10 - Disney Wonder 3-day "Let's Keep the Holidays Going cruise!"

Happy 90 day mark everyone!!

I just finished booking my Palo dinner and excursions. Or should I say excursion. This cruise is way too short!! We're booked on the Blackbeard's Cay Beach & Stingray excursion in Nassau for now. We also booked Palo for Friday/Nassau night since I always hate missing either the first or last dinner in the restaurants.

If there is anything you guys are really interested in from an excursion or dinner perspective let me know and I'll try to check out the availability as you get to the 75 day booking mark.

Enjoy!

Also wanted to celebrate that we made it past the 20 post mark! Let's keep it going!

TOTAL newbie here so I hope I'm doing this right :)
My dh, 2 ds's and I are going on our first ever cruise on the Jan. 7th Wonder. I am totally excited and a bit scared too. I'm looking forward to learning more about it all on this site :)
Thanks,
Kelli

Hi Kelli, welcome!

We are newbie's to the dcl too! I am getting excited about the trip, but wdw planning has consumed most of my time. I have been making and fine tuning dinner reservations. The cruise part is easy for us, just go and relax. We decided not to do any excursions because it is so short and i think we will need the down time after doing the world.

Kellie, how old are your sons? And Emma, do you think you will use the oceanear club? I think after 6 days in the park, we will be needing some adult time, lol.

take care everyone,

jen

Welcome, Kelli! Glad to have you! This will be our 4th cruise, though our first time on the Wonder. I'd be glad to try to answer any questions you have or that you can't find the answer to in the FAQ page on the main cruise forum.

Jen my boys are 6 and 10. I was hoping they'd be able to be in the same Oceaneer's club but I don't think that's going to happen because of their ages :(
I've been online doing a lot of research for both the cruise and WDW parts of our trips too. I've been to WDW twice before, but that last time was 12 years ago so it all seems new/changed. It's fun though :)
Thanks,
Kelli

Thanks for the welcome and I'm sure I'll have tons of questions for you (the DCL veteran) as the weeks progress :)

Wow, I just noticed that several of us have kids about 6-7 years old. How fun! They'll probably get to be friends in the Oceaneer's Club :yay:
Emma I noticed your ds is only a bit older than my 10 year old so maybe they'll get to know each other too. My son is sooooo into his Irish heritage and I'm sure he'd love to talk with your son to hear his cool accent :cool2:

kelli, are your going to WDW before or after your cruise?

We're going before the cruise. I just reread your earlier post and saw that you're doing the same :)
I also saw that you are in central IN. My parents are in Culver. Are you anywhere close to that?

How about your kids, everyone? what are they excited about?

My son is looking forward to hollywood studios the most for star tours and Indiana Jones, both of which he wasn't really interested in the last time we were there ( he was four). My girls (14, and 17) go for the shows and some rides and still want pictures with the princesses. And then, of course, comes the ship...first cruise for all of us:)

Kelli, we are in Frankfort. It's about 45 minutes north if Indy, probably about an 1 1/2 hours south of culver. How many days will you be at WDW?

Carter (age 6) is most excited about getting a massage on the cruise. Yeah! Like THAT'S going to happen! :rotfl: If anyone is getting a massage...it will be ME! He is also excited about the Buzz Lightyear ride at WDW. Otherwise he's excited for Pirate Night and seeing grandma and grandpa who are joining us on the land part of the trip. We will be at WDW Jan. 2-7th.
Sean (age 10-almost) is more hesitant than Carter but is still excited. He thinks the Oceaneer Lab will be fun and he's excited to 'finally' be able to go to a foreign country. And of course Star Tours at WDW.

Sooo excited!!!

Well folks. We've decided to cancel this cruise and do a trip to the parks instead. The 40% discount on lodging put a park stay in the same price range as this cruise, so we've decided we'd rather take the kids to the parks for the first time than do the back to back cruises we'd planned. Though it would have been even cheaper for us to ditch the 4 day cruise instead of this one, we really like sea days so we decided to keep the 4 day cruise. So we'll be at AKL 1/6 - 1/9, then spend the night near the port before hopping on the ship on 1/10. Everyone please be sure to wave as you're getting off, and take good care of her for us!

I hope you all have a wonderful cruise. I'll still stay subscribed to this thread in case any of you have questions or need assistance.

And Kelli, hopefully you can give Carter his massage, since kids unfortunately aren't allowed in the SPA!

Oh no! We're losing you before we even got to meet you :( Well, as you suggested, we'll be sure to wave as we disembark. And I totally understand about the great deal at the parks at that time. We toyed with the idea of switching it to all land too since we'd get 3 days free, but we had already told the boys about the cruise and they are totally psyched for that part of the trip.
Have a great vacation!

So far, we've managed to keep the entire plan for January a secret. We're taking a 7 day cruise in December and the kids both know about that one, and we just pretend all of our cruise discussions are about that one (helps to have 2 & 5 yr olds). But I don't think they know about the cruises we'd planned for January, or now the WDW visit we're planning. Heck, we've never even told them that WDW exists, so I think they're in for quite a surprise! My son's 6th birthday is the day we get off the 4 day cruise, and we'd already planned to take him to the T-Rex restaurant in downtown disney for lunch after we get off the ship. We keep telling him that we've planned something special for his birthday, but haven't told him what! Hopefully we can keep things a secret until they unfold!

Feel free to reach out to me if you guys want the cruise title changed or anything since I started the first post in this thread.

My 20 year old booked this trip for the family to celebrate her 21st birthday! Got to love the kid. We weren't sure we were going to keep the trip until this week. We are so excited.
I have never sailed in January. Any idea/tips?

Welcome!
So since your 20 year old booked the cruise, is he/she paying for the trip too?? lol
Do you have other kids on the cruise too? This is my first cruise ever so I'm of no use to you at all as far as advice. Have you cruised on Disney before or were they other lines?
Kelli

My 2o year old is not paying. She got us an amazing deal which I hope will be better with some cabin upgrades. If not we'll be in tiny cat 12 rooms.

This is our fifth Disney cruise. We have only sailed on Disney and keep coming back.

I am ready to start making door decorations and packing our pirate clothes.
