I hope it becomes a replacement for the all star game annually. It's supposed to be preparation for the Olympics next February. International hockey is trying to figure out small ways to imitate international soccer, so we will see if they do more international breaks in the future. Usually in soccer, there are predetermined breaks in any given year (called FIFA International breaks) that all leagues adhere too. It helps clubs plan player management better so it lessens the impact on the clubs' season. I think this is the way forward for international hockey as well.
@prairie_girl if the IIHF does go the FIFA route, will you be sad or happy?
It will make no difference to me. Personally I think having a tournament in the middle of the season is dumb, but what do I know.

They booed the American representatives, the Swedish players, and the Finnish representatives.
They didn’t boo for the American representative, just the captain..and that could largely be due to the fact that he’s a Leaf. It seemed like the Leaf players were being booed. Like I said, Montrealers are savage.
