“Please Don’t Pop My Disney Bubble!” TR 8/11-8/20 *New 1/1, It’s a wrap!!

It is time for a new and exciting TR from Caroline and Andi! We are a mom and daughter traveling duo. We have made Disney the #1 destination in our travel adventures, I mean why wouldn’t you, right?

I am the mom (Caroline) and I write all the TR’s and DR’s, all can be found in my signature.
Andi reads along and sometimes comments, she is @JuniorSkipper on the boards.

This trip was to celebrate several bittersweet things, such as, Andi is heading off to college on 9/1/18. This is a new chapter in her life and it is a new chapter in our lives (empy nest parents now). I also celebrated my July Birthday on this trip, this is definitely bittersweet the older I get.

This trip started very rocky and became very wonderful shortly thereafter. I hope you all join in to hear about this hotter than Hades trip! We did a few new to us things, some old favorites, and came close to several Dis meets, managed one!

Hello Everyone!

I will start this update with a couple days before we were going to leave for the trip, this is only to catch you all up with the last minute change I made. On Thursday evening, I was on the Disney website and I notice WL AP rooms available for the beginning of our trip. I call and talk with a CM and I am able to change the first 2 days at Pop to WL, so our whole 9 nights would be at WL. My fuzzy Disney math had me paying only about $250. more so I was okay with this.

I tell Andi and she just laughs and says “mom you just can’t stop tweaking the trip can you.” Okay now you all our caught up. Trip was 8/11-8/20/18 at WL.

DAY 1, Part 1, “Whooping Oh No”

Travel day started at an ungodly hour of 3am, yuck I know. Our shuttle service was scheduled at 4:15am to drive us to Minneapolis. Our flight was on Delta at 9am. We were the only two people on the shuttle this am, our ride was uneventful and we were at the MSP airport at 7am. There was a huge line to check the luggage, it did go pretty fast. Our ticket agent use to work at Epcot! She was excited for us and our WDW trip. Security was a breeze with our TSA precheck.

We had time to get some breakfast so we saw a new Chick-fil-A had opened. We don’t have many of these in Minnesota and we had never tried it. We headed over to the restaurant and placed our order.



I had the chicken sandwich with the potato rounds and Andi had the spicy chicken sandwich. Both came with a drink. The biscuits were very good and the chicken was done well for an airport restaurant.


After our breakfast, we picked up some hard candy, gum, and a candy bar for the flight. Our flight was on time and we were heading to Orlando shortly after 9am. The flight was uneventful, I watched the Avengers Infinity War again, so good. We landed without problems, however, we did have to sit on the runway for about 40 minutes because of a storm in the area. We were off the plane and heading to the luggage pick up area at about 1:45pm. Luggage came down the chute quickly and after a bathroom break, we were getting on the ME! WL was the first stop. I did get a text on the bus for the room. It wasn’t in the area I had requested on TP but it was the same floor so I was fine.

We passed the wonderful Disney sign and soon were pulling up to the resort.

We found our room and the door opened with our magic band! I took a few pictures of the room.

We were exhausted so we wanted to take a rest and oh my it was so loud in our room. We were directly above the WCC restaurant. We could hear clapping and whooping like it was right next to us. The noise from the large open lobby was also very noticeable! I don’t like to complain and have never requested a different room but I knew this was going to drive me crazy. Even Andi, who never cares about the room, didn’t like the noise. I went down to talk with a CM. I explained the noise and how we do rest every afternoon and how important it is for us to be in a quiet area. The CM did some checking and stated there was a room on the 2nd floor in a more quiet area, however, it was a bunk bed room. I asked politely if we could see it since we both are adults and not sure of the bunk bed set-up. We were able to check it out and it was yucky, the room smelled of stale old bbq sauce and was so dark. The bunk for Andi was not good. She would not even be able to see the TV. I politely asked to speak to the manager. I was told the manager would call my cell. Andi was so tired! We picked up her refillable mug and just wandered around outside.

The grounds are just beautiful, we enjoyed wandering around. I was really feeling bummed out. I was so excited to stay here and I always hear great reviews so this was quite disappointing. I had told the CM I would pay extra for a different room location if need be. It didn’t take to long and my phone rang. The manager was so nice, she asked if we would be okay with moving to a different deluxe resort and then she says how about GF at no additional cost! I said yes that would be wonderful. So at about 4pm we were given a taxi ride to the GF. It did take almost another hour once we arrived for the manager at GF to get everything sorted out! Andi was sleeping in the GF lobby while I stood there for so long! The manager was able to take our 2nd reservation from 8/15-8/20 and switch it to the GF so our whole stay was here and it did not cost me anything! By 5pm we were checking into our new room 5218 Sago Cay.

This building was very close to the QS restaurant and the bus stop. We got into our room and it was so quiet, yay! The monorail was passing by outside the deck.

We were very tired and ready to nap before our DAH event. I know many love the WL and I am sure we would have if we would have had a different room. I was really bummed and then I was really happy and relieved all in the span of a few hours! More GF pictures in the next post..............

That's a bummer that your room at WL was so noisy, but yay for the manager (and Disney Magic!) getting you a quiet room at GF!

Wow! Sad to be missing out on Wilderness but wow the Grand!
