This was the original post but I never updated it with your post the first go around. I just thought I'd delete the whole post and rewrite everything? Or do I fix it on your post?

Nope, I just made new plans period. I hope they work out for you.

Hi, and thanks for all the great advice on this thread!

Who: DD13 and myself
When: Friday August 17
First Time Ever at MNSSHP

Primary Goals: Rides while avoiding the midday heat. See the parade. See Hocus Pocus (if DD can make it that late). Maybe 1-2 stops for candy. Maybe 1 character meet (but low priority).

No Fastpasses (we will have already used FPs that day at Epcot in the morning).

Since my child wilts in the heat, my plan is to reach MK around 6:30pm or so.

6:30pm - Arrival
6:30pm-6:45pm - meander toward Frontierland
6:45pm-7:10pm - Splash Mountain
7:10pm-7:15pm - confirm that Big Thunder is indeed "closed for business" (otherwise will tweak itinerary and ride)
7:15pm-7:40pm - ride POTC (assume longer wait "than usual" due to the MNSSHP "enhancements")
7:40pm-8:20pm - meander/TBD
8:20pm-8:30pm - get a cold treat
8:30pm-8:50pm - watch Cadaver Dans in Frontierland at 8:30pm (???how long are their sets???)
8:50pm-9:15pm - stay put and wait for parade in Frontierland
9:15pm-9:35pm - watch parade
9:35pm-9:55pm - Haunted Mansion
Plan to Skip the fireworks (perhaps listen/catch them from Fantasyland)
9:55pm-11:40pm
-- Rides
o probably Peter Pan
o maybe 7Dwarves
o maybe Speedway
o definitely Space Mountain
o maybe People Mover
o probably Astro Orbiter
o whatever else is convenient/short line/nearby
-- Trick or treating (probably in Storybook)
-- M&G - possibly meet Lotso (I want to smell the strawberries!!)
-- Scream-o-ween dance party (just a quick visit - want a picture of Boo)
11:40pm-12:20pm - Hocus Pocus (if my kid can hang in there til then)

Hi and :welcome: to the party!

Friday August 17 / DD13 and myself

Your plan is interesting and I'm not really sure how to tackle it, maybe start in Tomorrowland. I know most people like to use the app and go from ride to ride, back and forth but during your party with the excessive heat and humidity sounds like something you want to avoid and I couldn't agree more.

If you arrive at 5:15
5:15-5:30 Wristband at Bypass
5:40-6:00 Tomorrowland Speedway
6:00-6:20 Astro Orbiter
6:25-6:40 People Mover
6:45-7:10 Lotso
7:15-7:45-Space Mountain
7:50-8:00 Scream-o-ween dance party
8:05-8:25 Trick or Treat
8:30-9:35 Boo-To-You Parade in Frontierland
Tag Team: Cold Treat at Sleepy Hollow
9:40-10:00 Cadaver Dans (roaming in Frontierland, 15 minute sets)
10:05-10:25 Haunted Mansion
10:30-10:50 Splash Mountain
10:55-11:15 BTMRR
11:25-11:45 Peter Pan
11:50-Midnight 7 Dwarfs

I'm thinking these rides should really take about 15 minutes but I have them at 20 minutes. If you go from ride to ride here by the time your done you should be able to trick or treat at least 20 minutes.

Your itinerary has been posted the Main page. If you have any questions just drop a note, I know where to find you! :wave2:

Let's dig in!

6:15-6:55 Quick Serve, Sit and eat indoor.
7:00-8:25 Moana - Post #797
Tag Team: You have about an hour. Mom gets 30 minutes & Dad gets 30 minutes but some one must stay to hold your spot. Trick or Treat at Tiki Room, POC...
8:30-9:35 Boo-To-You Parade in Frontierland see: Post #1110
Tag Team: You have 30 minutes, Specialty Snack
9:40-10:30 *Hallowishes
10:35-10:55 Vampire Mickey Mouse
11:00-11:40 Trick or Treat
11:45-12am Magic Shot Headless Horseman
Hocus Pocus show (maybe last show as my kids aren't into it)

Moana is a hard call but I put you meeting her after the sun goes down hoping the temps cools down. I also added an indoor meal because you and your kids will be hungry and in need of solid food, non sugary drinks and a restroom break. You'll have to adjust your FP's but this should all work out. Just drop a line if you need more help! :flower3:

Thank you for this!!! We may try to add the Disney Junior dance party in there somewhere but we won't know details til first party, right?

Hopefully we should know sooner. The information should be on the map which comes out a few days prior to the first party. We also have the WDW MNSSP website that might be updated with more details. So, one way or another we will know before your trip!

:D

I’ve now read all 60 pages here and a considerable amount of the generic MNSSHP thread and have watched 6-7 you tube videos to get a little bit of the flavor of the Party, particularly the parade and Hocus Pocus and generally just walking around. One video that I watched had the couple watch the midnight showing of Hocus Pocus, talk with some friends for 5-10 minutes, and then slowly walk to exit the park, followed by security about 20 feet behind them to make sure that the crowd heads in that direction. I did see that at least one PhotoPass photographer was still taking pictures of people with the castle as a backdrop. I would stop for that if it was only a 5 minute wait. I would also get the card at Guest Services and then have a magic shot taken at the entrance with the headless horseman. I assume that it might be 12:50 before we start our walk back to BLT (or the monorail, if my legs are shot). Is this doable or is there a chance that the photographer inside the park and the one taking the headless horseman shot will have called it a night by the end of Hocus Pocus?

I have first hand experience getting Magic Shots on Main Street between 12:10-12:30 and then going to Town Hall to pick up our SotMK Card. I did notice a photopass photographer taking the Headless Horseman Magic Shot but we didn't do it.
Last year we had planned TWO parties but I was ill during this trip and could only manage one party. After we picked up our cards I was totally fried!

Personally, if there's something you want done, get it done at a reasonable time.

Oh, and we also bought sandwiches and beverages at Main Street Bakery/Starbucks after those Magic Shots!

Thanks for the information. Between the 2 Parties, I’d assume that I’ll get all the magic shots that I want (I’m sure more than my son wants). Since I’ve got a 15 minute walk back to BLT, I’ll pass on stopping for food or beverages on my way out.

This is is so spot on for my outfit it's like Disney is reading my mind or something! *discreetly puts on tin foil hat*

I'm glad I put off buying my hat because I'll be definitely buy that Minnie Ears for my Disneybound!

With your costume, it will look like it was made for it! ::yes::

Tomorrow is my FP day and I am going to try for some FPs for the party day! Anyone want to help me brainstorm?
Who: DH, DS 3, DD 1, and me

First Disney trip, and this will be the first time in any of the parks. We are doing Chef Mickey's for breakfast and the pool before heading over to MK to enter at 4. I'd like to hit some rides before the party starts. I was thinking about trying to FP Buzz, Peter Pan, and maybe BTMRR or SDMT (for the adults with rider switch - son is too small for it). We want to meet some characters, do some TorT, early parade, scream-o-ween, basically whatever we are able to fit in, we want to do it. But we also recognize we have young kids so we may have to scrap it all and go back to the hotel! Thoughts??

Thanks FoxC63 - I will ponder your suggestions... we may prefer Tomorrowland after dark (because it's so pretty! esp Astro Orbiter) I have a couple more weeks to think about it - thanks again for your advice! (And thanks for the rule of thumb of 20 mins per ride, except Space Mtn since it will probably be a lot busier than usual with the "enhancements" -- wonder what time they'll shift over??? Guess only time will tell...)

Magic Shot lines were reported last year so be willing to move on and try later.

What characters would you like to meet? If you've been following this thread or even scrolled through the pages you might find Tag Team can be very useful. I recommend figuring out what characters you'd like to see and try to schedule your FP's while waiting in line to see them.

I really have no experience with rider swap but do know it was updated this year.

About 20 minutes for most rides the popular ones like Mine Train, Space Mountain and the mountain rides will most likely have longer waits early on and these will hold their times throughout the night.

I like your plan! I typically give about 20 minutes per ride and you've allotted 30 minutes which is sound. We really have no idea how the rides will work especially those with the new enhancements.
  • I think after the rides at 8:30ish you'll have time on your hands to make some Magic Shots too.
  • I would use Tag Team during your Moana meet, there's really no reason why all of you should be standing there in line, maybe do POC at that time which would free up that 30 minutes for Magic Shots.
  • I think you could add two Magic Shot prior to Hocus Pocus provided it's taken in that area. Lines should be very short. Take them one right after the other.
  • Don't forget to pick up your SotMK card too. I'm sure the kids would love to have this, plus the other 2 from you and your husband they could trade for a past party.

Your itinerary has been added to the Main page. Again, excellent job! :thumbsup2

Thanks for the suggestions FoxC63. Your work on this thread is much appreciated!

Did you get this resolved?

Did you get this resolved?
Sort of?? :) We made our fast passes, but I don't know if it's a good plan or not. For the party day, we did Winnie the Pooh (3:25-4:25), Peter Pan (4:30-5:30), and Jungle Cruise (5:30-6). I don't really know what we're going to do after that. Meander around?? I'm still a little clueless, I guess.
