I don’t remember seeing this message for previous cruises. Is this something I need to do in order to use our Magic Band/Disney Band+?

I was going to do it but there is a warning message that it can’t be changed or undone, which made me nervous since I don’t really know what I’m doing!

We will be using magic bands for the first time on this cruise (previously used at Disneyland) so I want to make sure I have everything set up correctly before sailing. TIA for any advice!

Basically it's asking you to connect your cruise guests with any Disney profile they may already have (I think). I had problems connecting my husband's cruise line info to his existing info because his cruise name is FULL NAME but his Disneyworld name is NICKNAME. Or he was duplicated or something, I'm not sure. I gave them the avatar to look for and that fixed whatever issue we had.

Disneyland doesn't have the same concept when it comes to a Family & Friends list. To use your existing MagicBand+ from Disneyland, you need to log on to either DCL or WDW and make sure everyone going on the cruise is included in your Family & Friends list. The Family & Friends list is shared between DCL & WDW. Once everyone is listed, you can then manually link your existing MagicBand+ to the appropriate profiles for DCL/WDW.

I think the whole “friends and family” thing is confusing me since we’ve never been to WDW so I’ve never set that up.

It is showing me the option to connect DH and DD, but I don’t think they have profiles or accounts so I’m not sure where the info is coming from! I guess I will just try to connect them and hope it works.

You would only use the "connect" option if they have their own WDW/DCL log on. If they don't, ignore that option.

If they create their own WDW account in the future, you can connect to that account then.

Oh, now I'm really confused. I logged on to My Disney Experience (which I've never done before) and it already has DD and DH on my friends and family list (saying I manage their profiles) so I figured I should go ahead and connect them on the DCL website. Now I'm not sure what to do. :confused3 I just don't want to show up at the port and have issues connecting our bands.

Now all you need to do is manually link your existing MagicBand+ you have from Disneyland to those MDE profiles.
