That just goes to tell ya how much the body changes when you move south!! We went up Dec 2007, and my Mom about froze us out with the heat set at 68 - no exaggerating, but I literally had on fleece pjs!!! We keep our heat at 74 and the a/c at 80 in the summer.

Oddly enough, I crank my A/C in the summer - usually down to about 72.

Tomorrow, we might hit 60 here in Chicago...what a contrast from our blizzard 2 weeks ago.

We do the same, except in the winter we set the heat at 70. During the summer the a/c is on 80...........so usually I run out and jump in the pool to cool off.

My next door neighbor, who is originally from Wisconsin, just got home from the hospital last week. He always use to do cannonballs into his pool. Well, turns out he has a bad back and had to have 3 rods put in his back. He said he is going to miss doing those cannonballs into the pool. Says, he's afraid he will sink down to the bottom if he gets in the pool!!!:lmao::lmao::lmao: The man was serious!!! He is the dumbest smart man I've ever seen!!!!:rotfl2::rotfl:

Sorry we won't be sailing with you..all these snow days this year has made me anxious about sailing so close to end of school term. We switched to Dec 29th! Happy planning, everyone!

Totally understand your fears....Hope you enjoy your trip in December!!!

Balmy weather here... 40's. I hear we may reach 50 tomorrow before more snow next week. Oh well, less snow, more mud ... it = Spring is on it's way! :goodvibes In our house, we keep it a cool/warm 72 degrees year round! One consistent temp... 80 would be way too warm for us in the summer for a/c... such weather wimps (or not) we are :rotfl:

Hi Everyone,
I haven't posted as I've been so busy - and my post today is to say "Farewell" - we canceled this cruise - we are spending pre 6/23/12 cruise at WDW rather than a back-to-back. (although I booked the 6/30 just for DH & myself - but I haven't told him yet - 7 days just isn't long enough after being on the Magic for 15 days on the Panama Canal cruise!!!!)
I know you all will have a wonderful time - a few years ago I took my older grandkids on the Western and they had so much fun.
Happy Sailing!!!!

Hi All -
We are saying "farewell" also. We had to reschedule to the 8/8/12 Western. I know you guys will have a great cruise and FE!

I hope ya'll are having a GREAT week-end. DW and I just realized we have to get our DGD's passport updated for this cruise. Her Mom and Dad are divorced so we have to send to her mother a form for her to sign allowing her dad to obtain a passport. Her mother was very nice about it the last time, so we hope she will be this time as well. We have a while to do this, we will probably wait until the end of this year or the first of next year to start the proceedings.

Just got back from a scrapbook weekend, I got about half of our March Disney cruise completed:) It made me so excited for our next one but also very sad because my babies will be so much bigger than they were then:( I am excited though to see their expressions when they find out. DD said she doesn't ever want to go on another cruise because she threw up after the last cruise. DS8 told DH that he did not want to go in the play area again if we ever go on a cruise again. (He hurt his head really bad the first night of the cruise and got a very big bump from another kids head). DS10 doesn't care, at least on child will have fun lol:) I look forward to our next 2000 pictures to pick from.:rotfl2:

DW and I were talking this past week-end about this cruise, and where we are going to stay the night before the cruise.:confused3 I know we have some time yet before we set sail on the Fantasy, but we like to have things planned out in plenty of time. :thumbsup2 Since we live in Florida, we always drive over to WDW and stay the night before the cruise at one of Disney's resorts. That gets us a little more then half the drive away to Port Canaveral. We live on the west coast of Florida. For the past cruises we have stayed at the Caribbean Beach Resort, to kinda, sorta get us in the mood for the Caribbean cruise. We are doing a back 2 back cruise on the Dream this September and we decided to change things up a bit and stay at the Animal Kingdom Lodge. But we just can't make up our minds as to where we want to stay for the Fantasy cruise in June 2012. Have any of our fellow cruisers out there given this any thought yet? Have you decided where to stay the night before the cruise? Is anyone staying at WDW the night before? Just wondering.

Hope everyone is having a GREAT week so far. :woohoo::woohoo::woohoo:

Hi David,

We stay at home the night before - saves us $$. We usually leave our house between 7:30-8am and that gets us to the port before 10am. Usually, DH drives with the traffic, and it takes us 1 hr 40 min (1 hr to WDW, then 40 min to the port). On our cruise last month, we were the 2nd family in the terminal (bording group #2!!!!!). We have already talked about the new assigned port arrival times -- we are going to try to get the earliest time, but still plan to arrive when we always do. For us, that us when our vacation starts!! We enjoy the 2 hrs at the port, & being among the first to board and eat lunch. The only thing I don't enjoy is paying for parking for 7 night cruises!!!!!

Saving money is a good thing Silverfox97. DW and I like to start the vacation a little early by staying at WDW at least the night before. (Don't know why we splurged this year and are staying two nights! Well it has been a few years since we cruised the last time - guess that is why.) We too like to get to the port as early as possible to be one of the first on board. And like you and your DH, we enjoy the time at Disney's Terminal, getting some pictures, and enjoying seeing the ship we are about to set sail on. This really sets the mood!!! And also like you Silverfox97, we don't like that paying for the parking for the 7 days cruises!!!:scared1: I haven't heard, but is the price for the parking going up??:confused3 I have seen something about the new assigned port arrival times. Like you, we plan to try to get one of the earliest arrival times.

But we just can't make up our minds as to where we want to stay for the Fantasy cruise in June 2012.

How about Coronado Springs Resort, while it would be more appropriate for a Western Caribbean cruise, it is a close cousin to Caribbean Beach.

We heard on the DIS boards the rumor that parking was going up to $20/day, but DH (ssanders79 ^^^ ;) ) called the Port and they told him no. However, the new garage wasn't open/ being used yet.

Good luck w/your hotel choice - I have always been a huge Caribbean Beach fan - I have stayed there and Coronado Springs (had a conference there). What about the new resort they are building, the Art of Animation??? That place looks cool; and I think it's suppose to open in 2012. DD wants to stay at the Little Mermaid area :)

SSanders is your DH.......I didn't know that. Well hello:wave2: to you both. And, excellent suggestions from you both.:thumbsup2:thanks: I did suggest to DW about that new resort opening up in 2012 the Art of Animation. That does look like it will be something to check out. I also suggested to DW that we just write down all of the resorts on a piece of paper and throw them in a hat and draw one out. But knowing her if she picked one she wasn't crazy about she would just keep drawing until she came to one she did like better. (She's tricky like that!!:rolleyes1) Well, we do still have some time to decide.
Hey, thanks about the info on the parking lot price. I do think I read somewhere that parking was going to increase. But, wasn't sure if it was for the new parking garage or not. If I hear:listen: of anything I'll pass it on to all.:woohoo:
Again thanks you guys for your suggestions, we have plenty to think about.

If price were no object, I'd stay at the Grand Floridian. :thumbsup2

If you want to change things up, maybe consider the Wilderness Lodge or one of the Epcot resorts, like the Beach Club.

We will be flying in from CA, most likely on the 15th, and we've never been there so we'll need all the help we can get, to navigate the airport > port > WDW. Any and all suggestions are welcome and appreciated. We are cruising the Wonder in April, and the port is about half hour from home, so we are thrilled about not paying to park the car for 10 days. :drive:
