We're in the midst of a heatwave. It's a balmy 36 degrees here in Chicago. Temps predicted to be above freezing for the next week. Maybe some of this white stuff will melt....hopefully slowly.

Hope everybody feels better soon!!!!

OK, I guess I can't complain too much about MD weather. Today we got up into the mid-50s. Comfortable enough to get out for a "quick" run and some baseball with our son. I've been here quite a few years now but still can't get use to these cold winters! I'm still a Southern girl at heart....too!:beach:

OK...stuck at work again today....:headache:

So I remember some of you said on facebook you wanted to see more of Edge and Vibe. I am not sure if you're all familiar with Passporters, but they are a great read, it's how we supplemented these forums for our last trip! Anyway....here's some good videos I found for the kiddos while "not working" today. :rolleyes1

:scared1::scared1::scared1:

OK, Friday, we went to Magic Kingdom for the day. I had jeans on, a long sleeved shirt, fleece on top, fleece vest over that, jacket over that and gloves. It was cloudy, windy, and the high temp was 53. DH & I entertained moving to Key West because obviously Tampa & Orlando aren't warm enough! Going from the parking lot on the tram to the TTC I was frozen. There were people from MI on the tram who were discussing how warm it was!

That's how DH feels too... me, just a sweatshirt and jeans , can't do shorts yet (besides, might blind people w/ the whiteness of my skin---blends in w/ clean snow, but not "snirt" --- snow mixed w/ dirt).

Just back from San Antonio, TX... high on Wed was 22 degrees w/ cold windchill :scared1: Yet, DH kept telling me it was better than the -19 degrees w/o windchill counting :thumbsup2. Learned that in TX, it's okay not to open your store if it's that cold out. Many shops were closed in Fredrickburg that day! Very Strange considering here in WI/MN area, it can be -20 w/ windchills @-20 to 30 degrees, and yup, still have school, work, and all the stores/malls are opened too!

Heat wave this week! :woohoo: :yay: Snow was melting and I even saw some mud on the driveway (gravel) and brown grass! :goodvibes

Hey David,

You are just a bit north of us in NPR - I work with a gal from NPR @Moffitt - she drives ~1hr each way just to work there. Can't W-A-I-T for it to warm up!!!! :sunny: DH is tired of worrying about our plants and the various freeze warnings!!

Congrats on being semi-retired :thumbsup2

Hi Emily. Thanks for the congrats on my semi-retiring.

DW and I feel the same way..............we can't wait for it to warm up here in Florida. Like your DH, I too am tired of the chilly temps and freeze warnings. Covering, uncovering, covering, uncovering the plants, it sure does get old after awhile. DW and I also jokingly said the same thing about moving south to someplace where it is warmer. Except we were thinking like maybe the Virgin Islands.................that far south!!!!!:cool1:

DW and I drive almost 45 minutes back and forth to our jobs. (Of course mine is only for 3 days a week!!!:cool1::thumbsup2) It takes us longer to get home in the evening then it does to get to work in the mornings!!!:scared1::scared1::scared1: When we moved up here to NPR about 15 years ago, there was hardly anyone around. You could drive for miles and miles and see nothing but pasture land. I guess everyone found out about our little secret place of heaven. But seriously, we would never live anywhere else. We love it here. It still has that small town feel, and we can hop in the ol' jollpy and within 30 minutes we can be in the big city of Tampa!!! (And within about 1 1/2 hours we can be at WDW!!!!:cool1::cool1::cool1::woohoo::woohoo:) It don't get any better then this!!!:cheer2:

I forgot something , I hope ya'll had a GREAT Valentine's Day yesterday. Mine was pretty uninventful. Had several appointments I had to attend to on my first day of retirement. When DW got home from work, we just sat back and relaxed for the evening!!! We let the ol' answering machine take all of the calls. :cool1::woohoo:

David, Congrats on your semi-retirement!! That's awesome! :cheer2:

Thank you so much Juls2989. I am writing to ya'll from work right now.:scared1::scared1::scared1: Today is my first day of part-time work at my old place of employment. (Actually, they couldn't go on without me!!:lmao::lmao::lmao: Even I couldn't say that with a straight face!!!!) But it is only for 3 short work days a week...............I think I can handle that!!!

It is suppose to get up to almost 80 degrees here in Florida the rest of the week - at least here in my neck of the woods. I guess spring must be just around the corner for us all. :yay::yay::yay:

Don't take this the wrong way.....but you guys make me sick :rotfl2: :rotfl: :rotfl2:

The only way we can get 70 degrees in February is by turning up the thermostat. Heck we don't even keep it above 68 in the winter, I hate $200 a month heating bills!!!!

I am so glad spring is coming around the corner. But now I am having cabin fever and can only read trip reports and posts on DIS boards instead of going somewhere nice. :headache:

LOL - ditto to this. Once in a great while, I crank up the heat to 70 just for a quick warm up and then I quickly set it back down to 68.

I'm also glad that spring is looming and grateful that we have a short trip to WDW in just about a month...when we return, winter SHOULD be behind us. And temps this week have been 40'ish so the white stuff is gradually melting.

That just goes to tell ya how much the body changes when you move south!! We went up Dec 2007, and my Mom about froze us out with the heat set at 68 - no exaggerating, but I literally had on fleece pjs!!! We keep our heat at 74 and the a/c at 80 in the summer.
