ª"˜˜ª¤.¸Team August 2013 Thread! (Part 2)¸.¤ª˜˜"ª&#9733

With the mention of what we are carrying to the parks, here's what will be in my bag (a Baggalini cross body):

Snacks
Ponchos
First aid kit (Band-aids, lip balm, pill container with meds such as Advil, anti-nausea, Imitrex for my migraines)
Sunscreen
Frogg Toggs
SLR camera and waterproof camera. I had a separate camera bag, but it was stolen at Universal. :(
Handi-wipes and Chlorox wipes (travel containers)

On my person/on the stroller (I take an umbrella stroller for DD because she is still tiny at 7yo):
3 water bottles inside thermal pouches (kids can carry their own, or they can hang by stroller when DD is in it)
Fan misters

Also have a cinch sack that I will pack towels and extra clothes in for those days they may get soaked at Casey Jr.'s. This can be in stroller.

I know it was brought up on the Facebook group last night but did everyone see the MagicBands and FastPass+ stuff mentioned on the website as a permanent fixture now? It still says it's in testing and following the links doesn't do much, but it explains some of the funky behavior in the last week or so as they were getting ready to roll this out.

I think us August folks are probably not going to be full on into it, but very well could be testers. Most likely won't know until we get there. It's something to keep an eye on though.
I checked this morning and didn't see anything, but I see it now. Pretty neat. I wouldn't mind being a part of the MyMagicBands or Fastplass+ initiative as it rolls out!

Since I've cancelled the August trip there will be no testing options for me. I am guessing though that this will already be rolled out for our December trip so I will keep an eye on the website.
Bought my December flights today. Everything is more expensive that time of year:scared: Flights were higher, food is going to be about two thousand more (no free dining for me) and hotel rates are way higher though I rented Wilderness Lodge points for a studio so I saved quite a bit there. It's just crazy to compare the costs though. The December trip will be 1500-2000 higher than the August one was going to be:scared:

Cortisone injection in my heel yesterday has me down and out, but giving me more time to plan, guilt-free!!!(Giving my usual jobs out to the kids... :) Sure hope this works though, otherwise by the end of the trip my family will be wheeling me around!!!!

We had a very disney day yesterday, blasting our disney station on Pandora and coloring disney pages while I made a spreadsheet of our schedule for the rest of our travel party. Today while DS was napping and DH was keeping DD busy I made the kids welcome banner, I just need to laminate it and find a mickey signature to try to copy onto it. I love all of this preparation (is that weird?) and I'm kind of glad we still have about 6 weeks left so I can do all of this. (:

Are you still planning on visiting ICE! at Gaylord Palms while you're there? I think I read on their Facebook page that they announce the details of this year's display on Wednesday of this week.

If you find spray fans, let me know. I looked in WalMart today and I didn't see any.

I saw some at my Wal-Mart yesterday and meant to pick some up today just in case they disappeared. I totally forgot of course so now I'll have to go back. I didn't see any at our Target the other day so it may just be dependent on your store. :confused3 I have a Disney one from May, but thought I might get the boys their own smaller ones so there's not arguing over them. But DH thinks the cool towels will be better.

I couldn't find them at our Target, either. I bought them from Dick's. I bought two so the kids won't fight over them. I'll just borrow one if I get hot.

YES!!
I showed dh and he was uncharacteristically excited about it!! In fact what he said was "Wow!! You plan the best trips!!":goodvibes You know, because I invented ICE! and deserve all the credit:rotfl2:

We are only going for one night though. We're checking out of WL Saturday morning (the 21st), we'll check into the Gaylord Palms and do all that fun stuff on the 21st. I figure we'll have about 24 hours. Then we're staying at the Hyatt in MCO for our final night. We booked it today. The airport has the potential to be a madhouse flying home on the 23rd and our flight leaves at 7:15 a.m. so it will be great to get up early, and just head downstairs to check in our luggage and go through security. I still plan on going downstairs at 4:30 or 5:00 a.m.

As for ICE! I can book a non-refundable rate right now for the cheapest room with 2 beds that gives us 2 tickets to ICE! for $350 and a family photo. It's weird that they only offer 2 tickets even though I am booking the room for four people. It doesn't seem there is an additional place to add tickets either. I wonder if I can buy them when I get there? I should probably call. I will wait for the packages but I don't think we'll get one because it looks like they have to be two nights.

I can access the website again! Somebody celebrate with me! :cool1: I guess they've forgiven me for my premature button clicking! :rotfl:

QOTD! KtP had a wait time of over 3 hours for Test Track yesterday! What is the longest you would wait for your favorite ride?

20 minutes because I think we've been spoiled with visiting during low wait times! But seriously, anything more than 30 minutes, we usually pass and come back later. If needed, I would probably wait about an hour. We once waited what seemed like forever for Toy Story Mania when it first opened (probably 1.5 hours?), and we won't do that again. It's just not worth it. There are so many other things to see and do!

Fantastic!!! :cool1:

You can definitely purchase two additional tickets to ICE! when you're there, or online before you arrive. That will be no problem at all.

Are you going to do the Shrek Feast at Villa de Flora for breakfast?

lol, I was just thinking it is good that you have the ICE! visit scheduled for the end of your trip. It will help get you ready to return to the frigid north :rotfl: .

The crowds/lineups tested me today at Calgary Stampede...yikes!! Maybe I am not as ready for Disney as I thought I was!

20 minutes is pretty much our limit as well.
I may have to extend that for our December trip, but I won't go past 30 minutes.
We waited almost an hour for Pirates last Labour Day weekend. Never again!

30 minutes for us! I might stretch to 45 but that would be the limit. We just try again later or another day if possible.

I haven't been in 28 years so it's hard to remember, but I do remember riding Thunder Mountain RR over and over with no waiting one evening. This trip I am putting the kabosh on anything with a posted wait of 45 mins or more. I refuse to spend the day waiting. As PP said it's not worth it.

That is terrible! I didn't think it gets more expensive than summer! How much does renting DVC points save you I've booking a deluxe or moderate room?
