ª"˜˜ª¤.¸Team August 2013 Thread! (Part 2)¸.¤ª˜˜"ª&#9733

Just a reminder for anyone who will be at POR during the week of 8/18 -- son and I will be at the pool most afternoons! He is 11, but gets along well with kids of all ages. Last year we worked it out with another mom and son, and the kids had a blast while us moms enjoyed some lovely adult beverages. So if you will be there and your child would like a pool friend, we'll be there too. :thumbsup2

that's a piece of dough flattened, fried then fruit and sugar is added on top. it's one of those things from a fair you probably only will ever want to eat once lol...

:cool1::banana::banana:

:cool1::thumbsup2

We've also got Myself, Loreli, HPCrazy, Victoriasmom98, momto3gr8boys meeting at UK phone booths in epcot on the 20th at 3pm if anyone else would like to join us! Can't wait to meet you all!:dance3:

I think the family will be back at the pool/room at that time so I would love to try to hop on over!

Ah I see! I grew up where Rocky Mountain Oysters were served, so I'm always curious what else passes for food!

Speaking of Disney movies, we just found Brother Bear 2 on Netflix. My daughter is really good with recognizing voices and got upset that they sounded like Rapunzel and "Greys A-mad-at-me" (Mandy Moore does a voice and so does Patrick Dempsey from Greys Anatomy.) Enchanted is on now and she keeps asking why Greys A-mad-at-me is on it too. I say the more Patrick Dempsey the better (:

Was wondering where you were!! :-) glad you made it over here!

It took me a little while! :-) have you switched back to CR yet?? My DW still doesn't know that were staying at CR, hopefully she doesn't notice Contemporary on the luggage tags. Mickey mail came in over the weekend!

QOTD- Hope you don't mind but I'm curious!

What Disney movies are your kids into right now? I've been incorporating as many movies/DVD's as we can afford and the kids will allow. Their favorites change frequently but right now they LOVE

DS 4 Rescue Rangers (flashback anyone?? I couldn't believe when they had this DVD at Target)

DD 2 an OLD Disney sing along called Pongo and Perdita.......I love Disney, but this one is so cheesy and she is obsessed!

Both are avid Cars and Mickey Mouse Clubhouse superfans as well LOL

My youngest son LOVES Jake and the Neverland Pirates, Pirates of the Caribbean, and Peter Pan. My older two boys will watch any Disney movie. We've been watching as many as possible lately, they even humored me and sat through Sleeping Beauty one night (I know they were dying to get back to their iPads and Xboxes though! LOL)

I'm not sure who mentioned Rescue Rangers- but that is awesome! We have Darkwing Duck, Gummy Bears, and Duck Tales. I am five in my head so I still love to watch those cartoons too.

We've been watching Silly Symphonies on Netflix also!!! :thumbsup2

I have to call Disney tomorrow to remove the tickets from our package and then I am buying our ANNUAL PASSES!! I am a little excited.:cool1:

DuckTales! That would be a Long Lost Friend they could bring back. Huey, Dewey and Louie and Scrooge McDuck!

I am looking forward to the days where I don't have to watch the jungle book 3 times by lunch!

DD1 used to watch "The Adventures of Elmo in Grouchland" over and over and over again. My wife and I could probably still recite it from memory.

Ugh we lost The Lion King DVD (no idea where it is) and have broken Cars twice , Toy Story, and the Pongo and Perdita sing a long ($3 replacement on half.com woot)..

We've misplaced the little mermaid. I know we had it but can't locate it anywhere lol.

We've only ever worn out toy story 1 &2 and that was before we had kids!!! Lmao!

I learned long ago to make copies of my DVD's and use those for the kids. We've also moved into the world of digital and most of the movies the kids have available on iPads for road trips.

DS (almost 3) goes through phases it seems. Last week we watched every Toy Story movie, but TS2 at least daily, if not twice. He also really likes Wreck It Ralph, which is funny since Ralph was the only character he was scared of in December! In the past week we've watched the above, Peter Pan, Cinderella, Finding Nemo and Up.

We completely skipped Animation Hall last trip with Ralph and Penelope because the kids hadn't seen Wreck-it Ralph yet. Of course they saw it right when they got home and wanted to know why they didn't see them at DHS. Hopefully they are still there in August.

We're at 46 days today. I found the cheat sheets on easywdw.com yesterday and was going over some of those with my wife. Going to dig a little deeper into them here in the next couple of weeks. Looks like some good strategies for things. Of course some of that could be different depending on how FP+ works and if it's rolled out or testing by the time we go.

*Gulp* Beavertail?

lol, I guess I should have given a little more info for our American friends :rotfl:. Beavertails are a famous Canadian dessert :) .

OMG, it was soooo good :worship:. Mine was the "Triple Trip" (chocolate, peanut butter and Reeses Pieces) and it was sinfully yummy.

There are lots of flavours, though, if chocolate and peanut butter aren't your thing:

We are watching Enchanted on Disney right now, too!

I know, I cringe when Disney reuses voices too much or uses actors that are too recognizable as another character. It's like the time my DD wanted to know why Mary Poppins sounds and looks like Maria from Sound of Music. It takes away some of the magic when kids start realizing that one person is the voice or face behind many characters.

I'm still confused why Princess Aurora's Fairy Godmothers are helping out Sofia the First. :confused3

When my kids saw the movie Tooth Fairy 2 with Larry the Cable Guy they figured out immediately that he was the voice of Tow Mater from Cars. Interestingly enough though, despite watching the movies back to back, they completely missed out that Han Solo and Indiana Jones are the same person. :lmao:

Clifton Hill was busy on Sunday, but surprisingly still really manageable. We waited maybe 5 minutes to board the Skywheel, which we thought was awesome. After spin on the Skywheel, we mini golfed at Dinosaur Adventure Golf, toured Movieland Wax Museum, rode Ghostblasters and played some games at the midway, ate some Dippin Dots and a Beavertail (my first!!), went to the Hershey Store and the Coke Store, then walked down through the gardens and took our traditional photos by the Falls. We left the lodge after lunch and were back in time for dinner :thumbsup2 .

I hope you got some nice weather for your Canada Day relaxation plans! It was pretty dreary here. We had thought about hitting up the fireworks but we were so pooped after travelling home, we decided to take a pass and hit the sack.
Gina it sounds like a lovely and fun weekend!
I didn't know they had a Beavertail place down there!! I'll have to head down with the kids this summer. I don't think they've ever had one. I used to work on the hill so I kind of avoid it now. My sister works for Niagara Parks though and gave us 2 sets of free attractions passes to use this summer, so I'm going to take a day and play tourist with the kids:goodvibes

As for Disney news. I had an interesting morning planning my December trip. Candlelight Processional packages opened this morning and it was a mad scramble to book my dates. The Canadian website wouldn't book them, the phone line CM told me they don't open until July 9th and I was frustrated:furious:
In the end I found a post describing how to disguise your IP address so you can access the American MDE site. THAT worked like a charm and I was able to link all my reservations for 2 trips, re-do online check-in with more options, and book the Candlelight Processional:banana:

Apparently it was a loophole though and they weren't supposed to open today. I didn't know that. I and a dozen or so others were able to make the package reservation and then it closed again:confused3
I got what I wanted though and I can't stop worrying about it now. It also looks like I'll be able to use Fastpass+ if it rolls out before December which was a major concern with only being able to access the old Canadian website. So overall.. a productive morning:goodvibes

I'm still confused with alot of things about Sofia the First! It's like this crazy melting pot of every possible thing Disney could think of regarding princesses and myths and fairytales all thrown together.

Wow, that's an awesome loophole! Did you book for any particular narrator? We love Steven Curtis Chapman and have seen him narrate a couple of times. We haven't booked a package before (we usually just pause for a bit to watch and listen), but hopefully we will one year!

Hahaha. No...I was doing a LOT of Disney math to see if I could get us over there (or the Poly) for the last couple of nights, but for the money, etc. I think I finally decided it's not worth it...SO, we are staying put at CBR in a pirate room. But we are there from 8/1-8/9 now and I snagged a BOG ADR for our first night! :-)

The tentative list is showing Edward James Olmos for my date so far. I'm just pretty happy to go at all so I'm not too worried about who it will be.:goodvibes

Ummm...so if we cut a day, we could basically do 4 nights at CBR and 3 nights in a Garden Wing GV room at CR for the same price...

Worth it??

(There is a reason why I am part of the Resort Changers group!!). :-)

Ok, I'll admit that I'm a little bored.

QOTD: What Disney food item are you most looking forward to?

Meal item I think it would be the Pork Shank at Gaston's Tavern. Dessert wise I think I'm wanting to try the Sand Pail or the Kitchen Sink.

Of course the best thing about Disney food is that it contains zero calories! :lmao:

I'm looking forward to the fried chicken and sangria at Hoop Dee Doo, and also a Dole Whip. Yum! :hyper:

The Wild Boar Tenderloin app at Jiko and the strawberry short cake at Hoop Dee Doo!
