ª"˜˜ª¤.¸Team August 2013 Thread! (Part 2)¸.¤ª˜˜"ª&#9733

Its a BEAUTIFUL day here in St. Louis--hot but we can handle it. The reason it is so good is that Josh did REALLY good with his treatment last night. NO side effects at ALL and he slept comfortably all night. Due to an increase in steroids, he's ravenously hungry, but that's ok. We can handle that! Doctor said that if he continues to tolerate the treatment this well, we WILL be able to go to Disney in 11 days!! So, to celebrate, we are watching Pirates of the Caribbean and talking about vacation!!! Then, to top it ALL off, I read that they have postponed refurb of the Tiki Room!! Its not like that would make or break our vacation, but its nice to know it will be open!!!

THANK YOU, ALL of you, for the prayers, happy thoughts, and Pixie Dust!! I KNOW that's why Josh is doing so well!! If it weren't for our friends being so thoughtful and positive, it would be a hard road for us!!!

That deserves a dance!!! :cool1: :cheer2:

Congrats on the fantastic news!!! We are all continuing to pray for and send good vibes to your entire family!

I have to share this with everyone.

My father just came into my off (he's my boss) and was talking to me about our trip. Keep in mind he's a notorious worry wart when it comes to traveling and vacations.

His biggest thing was letting me know how hot it was going to be down there. This I know because we were there in 2007 around the same time. Yes it's hot, but there are plenty of ways to beat the heat. He kept reminding me that as they get hot, the kids will get 'ornery'. :rotfl: Yeah...I know that one too. 'You should go back to your hotel at lunch and cool off.' Yes dad. That's our plan. Morning at the park then lunch there. Back to the hotel to relax (maybe nap) and then back at it.

His next order of business was to inform me of the speedpasses. Fastpasses, I corrected him. Yes, we will be using those as much as possible too. Heh.

Finally, 'the food there is SO expensive.' We're on a dining plan dad. 'Ah, that's good.'

It really made me smile and laugh inside. I know he means well, but like I said, he worries too much when on vacations.

It was a nice conversation.

I just love everything about this! Before kids I could pack in 24 hours for a trip. (Although I won't tell you about the time I left for the New Years Hogmany in Edinburgh and left my coat in my brothers car...maybe it's not just the pregnancy!) You can always get pounds when you get there! I have 20 quid in a safe place a friend sent me for a wedding gift somewhere I was saving for our next trip! (Haven't left the country since I got married...)

Um, there is a royal baby watch thread? How have a I not seen this????? I am totally obsessed with the royal family. When Will & Kate got married, I had a viewing party!:happytv: If she has the baby when your'e there you'll have to update us, meaning me! :lmao: I love London! Enjoy every minute!

I can relate. When we told my mom that we were going to Disney in August her first response was "Are you crazy? It's hot as heck there in August!" (she didn't say heck either.:lmao:) I just laughed and said "yeah, it will be hot but mom, did you forget that we live in Texas and it's hot in Texas in August too?"

We vacation in Vegas in late June/early July because that's off season and it is around our anniversary and yes, it's hot there too but if you prepare for it it's not bad.

We'll have plenty of water and frogg toggs and water rides and swimming pools and air conditioning and we'll be fine. :thumbsup2

Ah, well-meaning parents who try to give advice about Disney! My mom's yearly advice amounts to saying, "You know, you could have bought furniture instead of going to Disney." Sorry, but Disney will always trump furniture. I'd forego new furniture to be IN Disney, rather than sit on new furniture and simply THINK about going to Disney!

They did!!

It looks like you should be able to catch it with those dates? We were totally going to miss it and I was so excited when they moved it back!

Ok, how about pushing back Jungle cruise?!?!

This is why we haven't even told my parents we're going on vacation let alone Disney...either they would have some sort of snarky comment about the fact that we're going again and why in August or the whole if we went at Christmastime or something they would go too...ummm yeah...that's part reason why we go in August. ;-)

I've been at a couple of different time in the year. Spring Break in 1987, NEVER AGAIN. Thanksgiving in the early 90s, then again the following January. Both are good times (heat and crowds). Christmas would be too busy for my tastes.

Yeah, August is hot...but you're AT Disney.

i saw this on fb and am so happy for you and josh!! Sending continued prayers and positive thoughts your way! You guys deserve a disney vacation! and heck, this joshua's mom needs to meet another josh's mom. ;-)

absolutely!!!

Exactly. It can be fun to travel with others, but sometimes it's also nice to say, "Oh, what a shame our schedules won't work out together this year!" :thumbsup2

Everyone we know is telling us we're crazy and we'll be so hot and miserable. Guess what, I'm hot and miserable in NJ and working. I'll take a week of being hot & miserable in Disney World anytime! Non disney people just don't get it! My only hope is the heat and crowds doesn't make my husband turn into grumpy! We don't normally go this time of year and he sometimes has less patience than the kids :/

Where do they think you're going?? Love surprises!!

They think we are staying offsite at Bonnet Creek...he he he. We drove by AoA when we were their last May and were commenting if we ever stay onsite that is where they want to go. They are completely clueless.

Ok. I had my cute post earlier, time for my rant post.

We've had this trip planned since January. We told family that we wanted it to be a surprise to our kids. DS13 eventually figured it out...which is ok. He was told NOT to say anything to DS7 (DS1 is oblivious...hahah). In about March, while at my mother in laws house, my sister in law asked my DW (loudly) what the dates to our DISNEY trip were. My DW gave her a look and toldher to keep it down as DS7 didn't know. 'Oh, sorry.' In May, she did the same thing. She got the same reaction. This past weekend, we had a party for DS7 at the beach, when sis in law asks 'Why are you waiting til Disney to cut DS1s hair?' My DW took her aside and asked her to not bring up the trip again, as it is supposed to be a SURPRISE to DS7.

I don't know if it's jealousy, or just her wanting to be petty about it or what. It's not like her family (only 2 Dkids) can't afford to go for a week. If we can, anyone can.

That's all done now. Thanks.

I'm so excited about this. I actually like Spaceship Earth. The kids and DH enjoy it too.

I'm the same way. We could have easily remodeled our kitchen this year with all the money we've spent on 3 Disney trips within 9 months but I would take Disney any day over the remodel and the kitchen isn't really that bad.

Oh that would be awesome!

That is totally frustrating. This just begins the drama of keeping Disney trips quiet from friends and family! At this point, we tell people on a need-to-know basis. :)

That is another reason why we didn't say anything to my family. Our kids don't know and we want to keep it a surprise!
