ª"˜˜ª¤.¸Team August 2013 Thread! (Part 2)¸.¤ª˜˜"ª&#9733

I'm so silly I find myself writing this post seriously just to look at my ticker and be excited lol. Anyone else do that? But since I am writing I was wondering (if I may be so bold) to do a QOTD? What are some traditions you do every year when you go to WDW? And if this is your first year are you excited to start one, and what will it be?

Every year my dh and I go out to a nice byob and bring a bottle of Chateau Montelena Chardonnay. It is like the kick-off to our Disney Anniversary celebration. We also always make sure we get the anniversary pins. The cast members see them and always make the trip a very special one!

This is our only trip so we don't have any traditions. Maybe I will take my grand kids some day as a tradition. My grandfather paid for trips when we were kids kids and now my mom is paying for our trip, so I guess that's our family tradition - Grand parent pays.

Just made a breakfast reservation at Whispering Canyon Cafe. I have only had dinner there, but the breakfast menu looks great. Anyone here had the WCC breakfast?

We did breakfast there on our last trip (we stayed there ) on our last day. It was very good. The kids loved the Mickey Waffles in the kid size skillet. It was more than enough for them.

Speaking of the photopass, we purchased the regular photopass a few months ago and I really want to upgrade it to the PP+. Does anyone know if this is possible?

Frequently Asked Questions:
Q. I am visiting the Walt Disney World Resort and have already pre-purchased the Walt Disney World PhotoCD online, can I upgrade to the Disney PhotoPass+ Pre Arrival offer?
R. Yes, if you are visiting the Walt Disney World Resort and have pre-purchased the Walt Disney World PhotoCD you may upgrade your PhotoCD to the Disney PhotoPass+ Pre Arrival offer by contacting our Guest Support team at 407-560-4300 or visiting the Contact Us section of our website. You will need the name, phone number, and email address that was used to purchase the PhotoCD.

I guess I wasn't looking in the right section on the PP website. Thank you for posting this.

Hey are any of my fellow August travelers purchasing photo pass +? I just learned about it today and wondered if it was worth doing!

I have been going back and forth if the PP+ is worth it for us. After every trip, I combine all the Disney photographers' and our camera photos in a Disney album. Last time it cost about $90 and includes up to 20 pages. I was able to fit all the photos I wanted from our 5 day trip. I was thinking of doing the same for this trip as I love the Disney photo albums. Every time I read about the PP+, I start second guessing myself. This trip will be 8 days but only 2 of our 9 ADR's offer the photo package and there's several rides with photos that we don't go on. Decisions...decisions...!

We always go to WPE for dinner at DTD. It's my husband's favourite counter service and it's his birthday the last week of August so it's become our tradition to go there (sometimes more than once)! :)

Joshsmom-- thinking of and praying for you! All will work out!

QOTD:What are some traditions you do every year when you go to WDW? And if this is your first year are you excited to start one, and what will it be?

We have started a tradition of dining at Kona Café for breakfast on the last day of our trip, then taking the monorail to MK for the day! I also have taken my boys' picture in the same place on Tom Sawyer Island the last three trips- the pictures are adorable and I can't wait to get a new picture this year!

Anyone else feeling like these days are just draaaagggging on??? I am teaching summer school starting tomorrow, so I will be busy, but 40 days seems so far away.

I start back up teaching summer school tomorrow too! I already taught the first session. I do have to miss the last 3 days of it though in order to go to Disney!! 25 more days!!!

DxDP or DDP + a few OOP TS meals? Obviously it would change some ADRs, but I could make it work with the regular dining plan. But we'd still have to pay OOP for a few character meals to get everything in that we want to...but I think we'd still save a couple hundred possibly?

I went back and forth on this too.:rolleyes1
I ended up keeping my regular DP and will be paying OOP for a few TS. Even with the OOP meals (I think we have 4), I still came out better than upgrading to DxDP. Like $500 cheaper!:cool1:

I realize that the regular DP doesn't include appetizers and the second snack but I SERIOUSLY doubt the two of us will eat $500 worth of snacks and appetizers!:goodvibes

GMU MOM, if you message me your email, I have a perfect solution for you!!! (I know, sounds funny...but you'll see why!)

DH likes the ease of the DxDP and not having to worry about anything other than tips (and DD's food at non-buffet places) and is willing to do it for that reason, so I guess DxDP it is! :-) I can keep some more of my TS ADRs that way which is cool! :-)

One tradition is to try and have dinner at WPE in DTD and eat outside our first night. We usually end up at DTD the first night because we don't go to a park our first day. It gets us in the mood for the trip to have a good meal, people watch and browse through the stores.
We also always buy an ornament at the Christmas store every trip. It used to be we each got one. That got expensive and too much when we started going twice a year. So we get one as a family or one for each of the kids. My tree is almost entirely Disney from our trips and things I purchased from the Disney Store.:rolleyes1

The past few trips we have been eating at Chef Mickey's. So we make dinner reservations for there on our arrival day.

Dragging is OK. Because I don't want the summer to end. I haven't even been to the beach yet but I am thinking of going after lunch for a few hours with the kids.

I am also avoiding packing. I have a list started with some stuff I don't want to forget-zip lock bags, Tupperware, food for my son who has a few food allergies.

We don't have a tradition- first trip. I like your tradition of a picture for each visit in the same place......just have to convince husband that we should be regular WDW tourists lol.

I as well don't have any "traditions" per say. We will go to DtD the first day but that is to get something to eat as AK is only open till 5 or 6.

We used to have a tradition of eating at Boma on arrival night. But we had already decided to forgo it this year as our trip is shorter and I wanted to try the Pirates & Pals Fireworks Voyage. Right now since we are driving down to Palm Bay for a birthday party on our arrival night I'm not sure what it's going to look like. We're contemplating changing to an off site hotel, or maybe Shades of Green, for the night to save some cash, although the room only that first night is already paid for. I can't decide! We probably won't be there to use many amenities or enjoy Disney that first day, but we'd be able to do things the next day. I'm not sure if it's worth paying twice as much or that convenience and not having to move. It's about an hour from my friends house to WL. :confused3

We don't have specific traditions, but we do do certain things each trip. We always eat at LC, Chef Mickeys and Cape May, snack around the world, make sure we get the required photos (front of castle, SE, ToL, the hat), We hit DTD after dark, Illuminations (we watch from the same spot every time and while we wait, we take turns getting candy from the UK (the boys) and coffee from the patisserie in France (the adults)). I'm drawing a blank, but I know there are others.

We have no set-in-stone traditions, mainly because every trip I've gone on has been a different combination of people. But by coincidence, I've eaten at 50's Primetime on every trip. I won't be eating there this time, though. I'm not heartbroken about it, but I do wish we could have found time to squeeze it in. Ultimately the other ADRs were more important.

We always eat at Chef Mickey's for breakfast, partially because we love Mickey waffles and partially because we get our pictures taken. We have the picture of our family on the fridge from every trip, it's so fun to see how the kids have aged and to remember our trips every time we open the fridge.
