ª"˜˜ª¤.¸Team August 2013 Thread! (Part 2)¸.¤ª˜˜"ª&#9733

35 days today! Starting to get myself into full planning mode. I have two more training trips to take out to lovely Madison WI (no joke there it is really nice) the second one gets me back 4 days before we leave. Starting to get very very excited. That's all I had to share!

Yes and No. I booked it through Priceline so I got it for a steal but I can't cancel it. So I would lose $60. And then spend another $120 for AoA. Dh isn't thrilled with that idea.
We usually pack what we need for a night or two in the carry on and then just grab the toiletry bag out of the suitcase so it's not too bad. We even leave the luggage in the trunk of the car. I just wouldn't mind a second night to check out AoA.;)

Ah, makes sense. I didn't realize your airport hotel was a Priceline win. I would keep it too....just 'cause I'm a cheapo and would hate to waste $60 :rotfl2: .

Phew...had to come back to our thread for some happiness. Some of the discussions about FastPass Plus are getting very negative and heated. Can't we all just get along? :flower3:

In reality it looks like a handful of folks are predicting the demise of WDW as we know it due to the new technology. I'm one of the believers that think that while there may be some bumps in the transition, overall the goal is to improve the experience for everyone and not alienate guests, especially those repeat guests that go over and over. They also want to improve the experience for the first timer so they will become return guests. Some say Disney has too much invested in this for it not to work. $1 Billion dollars has been spent but for a company like Disney who has made BILLIONS in profits in recent years despite heavy promotions and discounts it's really not that big of a deal. I think they will make it work and will make adjustments based on feedback and overall people will be happy.

I'm also looking forward to it. I can think of some advantages to having it plus it's a better collectible than the KTTW card IMNSHO. :lmao:

In other happy news, we got the OZ and Mulan/Mulan 2 movies this weekend from the DMC. The kids haven't seen Mulan so that will be fun for them to see just before we go so they can have an idea of who she is when we're in Epcot.

Other than that still hunting for a BOG dinner and contemplating next year's trip.

So I just got chastised for buying what DH called junk - 2 pool noodles, goggles for DS, and penguin travel pillow for DS since he's obsessed with penguins...definitely not the time to mention the pirate themed things I've been collecting to give the kids when we tell them we're going to Disney...

I have to wait 2 more days. My first night is at the Airport Marriott since we were arriving late, and our next night is a room only at AoA that I booked through Travelocity. So our online check in day for the package will be this Wednesday.

I actually kind of wish I hadn't booked the airport hotel. When I did we were arriving later in the evening. Then Airtran changed the flight time and now we land at 6. Oh well. If they change it again I'll grab a morning flight without a change penalty and we'll stay at AoA for the first night too:). I figured out I am not working at all on the day we leave so we could have taken a morning flight afterall.
Airtran changes schedules quite a bit so it may work out. I'll cross my fingers that we actually do get the dreaded flight change email this time!

We usually stay at an airport hotel in Pittsburgh, then fly out first thing in the a.m. This year, we decided to take a later flight the day before and got a room only at POR. We figured we'd pay for a hotel anyway, and with the room discount it wasn't much more $. Now we decided to take an earlier flight so we can unwind at the resort and snagged an ADR for 'Ohana! The plans they are a changing.:)

DD2 is going to need a new swimsuit. The one she has now is getting snug so I know it won't fit by the time we get to Disney.

I hadn't thought about goggles but the girls definitely would like those. Thanks for the tip! :thumbsup2

Lol. I got them at Five Below so they were cheap. :-)

We are at 59 days! I just did online check in and requested our Cars Suite to be: Highest Level and Near transportation. I did agonize over checking the early checkin box, but it said that would supercede any room requests...so I didn't check it and will just hope that we get in early.:)

My DH wants to do Ohana's for a Breakfast so now I am off to see if I can schedule that in :cool1:

Got my Mickey Mail today! I was on the phone with DH and I started screaming. He thought I got in an Accident! Need to calm myself before I wreck myself !!!

60 days for the second half of our stay today too! I just checked in!

Did you do online check in for your club level stay? I've heard not to, but I'd really like to - just to give me something to do :lmao: I know it's odd, but it's just another step that tells me we're getting close :goodvibes

haha....my DH also doesn't appreciate when he hears me let out a loud gasp or scream, only to realize it's something related to Disney!

Just happened by Costco and got three pairs of adult goggles for $15. Was going to wait but with Costco you never know if something will be there next week or not.

They probably won't fit the girls but for me, my wife and our friend who is joining us they will be great for the water parks and pools.:thumbsup2

We've done the Wishes dessert party twice. I really enjoy it because you get to relax, enjoy some good desserts, and have a lovely view of Wishes!

My mom and I went to the Dessert Party on our last trip. It was really great, I enjoyed it. The desserts were tasty and the view was terrific.
Glad to hear great things about the dessert party. We are doing it for the first time this year. Just the girls! my dh doesn't eat dessert (I know, how do you not like dessert? lol) and wants to go back to the hotel and relax as it is our last night. We fly out the next morning but I want to absorb as much Disney as we can on our last night as I never want to leave and thought this would be a great ending to our trip.

60 days for the second half of our stay today too! I just checked in!
I can't believe that I have been so busy I forgot to check in and we are at 53 days! Guess I will go do that now!

I have started gathering things that I will need to pack in a few weeks to make sure we don't need anything else. Don't want to wish away the summer but sooo ready for our trip!

So we are at 62 days. I did online check in for our last trip, but I keep hearing people say they don't want to do online check in. Can someone please help me out. Should I or shouldn't I do online check in? Is there a negative to it? Thanks

I'm not doing it this time. Our last three trips we did online check in and we never got any of our room requests. :sad1: But I know just about everyone else thinks it's fantastic! :)

Thanks for repsonding. Last time, which was the only time I have done online check in, I did get both my requests. However, I felt like once we arrived at the hotel we just got our cards and were sent on our way. I did miss the extra explanation of the resort. I didn't know if that was just the way that particular CM handled it or if that was a regular thing.

I waited all day today for the mailman to come and no MM. Well I should say we waited all day, lol. We're anxiously waiting to get MM. It will be our first time.I'm thinking of always taking my IPhone with me and record ourselves opening the mail box to see if it's there.

Just a couple of days before we can do online check-in!

I need your opinions - my Dad wants to know what Disney and/or Pixar films he should watch to refresh his memory before our trip. Are there any that he really should see to make sure he understands everything? My Dad is mostly familiar with classic Disney movies and the older Disney World rides like Pirates of the Caribbean. He hasn't seen all the new stuff. Thoughts?
