ª"˜˜ª¤.¸Team August 2013 Thread! (Part 2)¸.¤ª˜˜"ª&#9733

So according to my ticker, there is exactly 2 months to go until our summer trip!:cool1: 8 weeks and 5 days to go.
The crazy thing about that is that my kids aren't even done school yet! DD has her last exam tomorrow and ds9 finishes on Thursday.
He is really glum because his very best friend in the world is moving away over the summer. It's so sad to see him so upset about it. And it's far too. She'll be 3 hours away:(. He's going to a new school next year for French Immersion, and he has lots of friends but these two have been best buddies since Kindergarten and I know he'll miss her terribly. So it will take us a few weeks to get into the groove of summer with him. Even the thought of Disney isn't making him too cheery right now. I've promised him they can email and talk on the phone. We'll do our best to make sure they stay in touch. She's the sweetest little tomboy and they were such good pals. I feel so bad for him. It will be ok and it's good that he's switching schools next year and won't be reminded every day that she isn't there. I hate it when my kids are sad.

Awwwwwww, poor little guy. It's so hard when our kids have heavy hearts. As their parents we just want to protect them from all hurt and sadness!

I saw a rumor today that doesn't interest me or my son, but it might interest some of you, Sofia The First could be doing meet & greets at some point in July:confused3, It didn't say it would be permanent or anything about August, using words like "could " and "at some point"it could just be a rumor and nothing more, but it's something to keep a eye on:magnify:
We don't have TV so my kids wouldn't know who she is, heck I don't know who she is. LOL. But the more meet and greets the better.

Hope he can find another good buddy in French that would be a ...uh...I took French in 7th grade some 27 years ago and all I remember is je ne sais pas.

We are too!!! For some reason I thought you were flying...We leave the night of the 29th (talked DH into driving straight through to save hotel cost and also get half of the trip done while the kids are asleep since DD is not as much of a seasoned traveler as DS...less time for her to be awake and cranky). :-)

We leave on the 30th. With mom we can't drive straight through. She has knee problems and they lock up on her if she sits too long. So we are staying in Georgia the night of the 30th and then in a DTD Hotel the 31st, checking into ASMo on the 1st!

Has anyone gotten their Mickey Mail yet??

I understand. We'll be offsite (Sea World) the 30th and 31st then checking into CBR on the 1st!!

No Mickey Mail yet, but I used a TA, so it takes longer I think...

I booked right with Disney and I haven't gotten my Mickey Mail yet:confused3 but hopefully it's coming to my home soon!!:yay: I love Mickey Mail lol!!

No Mickey Mail for me but I am still 60 days out (Hey.. I can do online check in soon!)..

In the past I've changed resorts so much that I am not exactly sure when it supposed to come because they have to send me amended documents:rolleyes1. I think it's after the 45 day period and full payment.

Just realized we're in single digit weeks as of yesterday! As much as I don't want to wish the summer away, I'd be okay with it going a bit faster! Come on August!

I do have some news, actually. We haven't been in the hospital since that last VERY lengthy stay. That, in itself, is wonderful. We did get news last week that the rejection was worse and they did some labs immediately. We got those results back and they were "the best" they've been since this odyssey began in March! I think the really bad ones were lab error. So, it's *possible* he could get the catheter out of his chest before Disney!! THAT would be AWESOME because then he could swim and go on water rides. In August, that would be a MUST!! So we keep holding out hope that rejection is on the run and that he will continue to get better!!

Thanks for all the prayers, happy thoughts, and pixie dust!!!

Oh that is such AWESOME news!!! It's so hard to have a child who is ill. Hang tight and pray for August swimming and riding!! :thumbsup2

I'd love to join in :). This is my first time on the Aug board because we've always gone in Sept. but we added 2 days to our trip this year, so we're leaving in Aug. Instead of the usual 8 days, we figured it was going to take us 10 days this year haha!

Our dates are Aug 30-Sept 8, and we're going back to Pop this year after spending the last few trips at POR. Gotta go back to Pop if we're adding days and plans to our trip budget :).

As usual, we are counting down the hours and wishing away our summer so we can GET TO DISNEY WORLD ALREADY!!!

Welcome!!! This is an awesome group. Very chatty, so be prepared to TRY to keep up! Lord knows I usually can't! :hyper:

This is our new addition, Bella. She's 6.5 years old and such a love!

That has got to be one of the cutest little dogs I have ever seen!! I would love to snuggle right up to her!!

Yep, here too!!!! I got the stink eye from my fellas after innocently inquiring if anyone wanted to join me for Sunday stroll around the neighbourhood. :rotfl2:

Oh my the heat and humidity is just boiling up around here the last couple of days. It's supposed to be in the 90's today with high humidilty. There's a possibility of thunder storms, too, so we'll see. I'm very fortunate to work in an air conditioned office and have air conditioning at home and a pool. (ok, but I must admit, the pool water is still pretty cold!! I know, I know....complain, complain, complain!!! :rotfl:

Hi Everyone! Today is my last day at my school (no kids, just staff). I got a new job for September so I'm literally finished with everything. All of my kids stuff has been passed on to their new teachers, my stuff has been packed and already brought home. So I'm literally just sitting here. Bored. Watching the time pass as slow as ever. So I decided to catch up with you fine folks! I hope everyone is having a good Monday!

Has anyone done the Wishes Dessert Party? (I'm sure many of you have). What do you think of it? Is it worth it?

So when do I have to start "worrying" about Mickey Mail? Is it anytime after 45 days out? My kids will potentially know what it is...we made such a big deal out of getting it the last time we were onsite...and they don't know we are staying onsite this year...so I need to intercept the mail. I already gave them the lecture of not opening any mail unless their name is on it. :)
I work nights and sleep during the day, so I'm afraid someone is going to get the mail:scared:
I'm pretty sure they already think I am being over the top about the "not opening mail" thing...they really only open up the Disney Movie Club stuff...but i just have this feeling if they see an envelope with anything Disney they will be tempted.

We did it the last time we were there in 2011. Doing again this year. I like it because it is somewhere to just sit, enjoy some desserts and watch wishes without so many people around. My youngest has issues with people touching him, so this works for us. We are doing it the night before we check out. Nothing big planned for checkout day, we will pick a park that day or just shop. It is paid for in advance, so don't have to worry about having money for it then.

I have to wait 2 more days. My first night is at the Airport Marriott since we were arriving late, and our next night is a room only at AoA that I booked through Travelocity. So our online check in day for the package will be this Wednesday.

I actually kind of wish I hadn't booked the airport hotel. When I did we were arriving later in the evening. Then Airtran changed the flight time and now we land at 6. Oh well. If they change it again I'll grab a morning flight without a change penalty and we'll stay at AoA for the first night too:). I figured out I am not working at all on the day we leave so we could have taken a morning flight afterall.
Airtran changes schedules quite a bit so it may work out. I'll cross my fingers that we actually do get the dreaded flight change email this time!

Pretty much between 45 and 30 days is when it comes. I think it's on the earlier end of that if you have DME planned. Some folks from August are already getting theirs, so definitely be on the lookout. Unfortunately it's not discreet at all, so hiding it isn't easy. Good luck!

All this talk of Mickey Mail made me nervous, so I finally called and added our flight numbers so we're set for ME! One step closer!

60 days for the second half of our stay today too! I just checked in!

Would it be worth cancelling the airport hotel anyway, and staying two nights at AoA? (even if you do get in late that first evening?)

Just thinking it might be nice to not have to pick up and move that extra time.

My mom and I went to the Dessert Party on our last trip. It was really great, I enjoyed it. The desserts were tasty and the view was terrific.

We've done the Wishes dessert party twice. I really enjoy it because you get to relax, enjoy some good desserts, and have a lovely view of Wishes!

Yes and No. I booked it through Priceline so I got it for a steal but I can't cancel it. So I would lose $60. And then spend another $120 for AoA. Dh isn't thrilled with that idea.
We usually pack what we need for a night or two in the carry on and then just grab the toiletry bag out of the suitcase so it's not too bad. We even leave the luggage in the trunk of the car. I just wouldn't mind a second night to check out AoA.;)
