To Christine ---- OMG!!!! I am sooooo glad our wife was with you!! Ever since I've had cancer at 24 years old (I'm 46 now) I try to live every day to the fullest because you just never know. No matter how healthy you are, things happen. I'm sure that PT will help with restoring full motion to your arm. It'll be fine!!

To Joshsmom ---- I'll be anxious to hear how his appointment goes. Good healing thoughts to you.

And to everyone else out there ----

The newbies, Welcome!! Glad you are here! :cheer2:

Everyone who has gone through financial issues ---- hang in there. It's bound to turn around!

We all have less than 3 MONTHS TO GO now...... it's gonna be great!!! :woohoo:

Just wanted to share. This semester was really tough for me, health issues, tough classes, life... So, although I gave my best effort, my school work suffered a bit.

HOWEVER. Two of my grades have been posted so far -- B+ and A. I am THRILLED! The other two classes I have to wait for still. But anyway -- yay! :cool1:  :woohoo:

Congrats!!!

That "blink of an eye" thing SCARES me!! I can't BELIEVE my DS is ALREADY 17--where did THAT time go???? And although I am SO EXCITED about our August trip to WDW, I certainly don't want to wish his last summer before senior year away. This will be the first year he hasn't gone to summer school. Time is just going TOO TOO fast!!!

Oh I hear you!! I spend a lot of time lately wanting time to just sloooow down! I have a 16 year old all of a sudden. I can see myself sitting with her brushing her hair and putting it in pig tails like it was yesterday. It goes so fast:worried:.
However for me.. that's why these trips are so important. It's time away where it's just the 4 of us having a blast and enjoying eachother. Priceless.:goodvibes

ITA!!! I LOVE that my kids still want to go to WDW with me. I was talking about WDW with some co-workers last week and a fellow nurse said she used to go to WDW when she was a child but that now she is over it:scared1:

I understand Disney is not for everyone but I pray my kids never get "over" WDW out where they don't feel the need to return.

I'm with all of you!! DS17 - I need to change that sig line - will be a senior this year too. It's so exciting, but I'm also realizing he'll be getting ready to go away in a year. I read on the DIS the other day in a thread about parenting, that a parent/child relationship is the only relationship you will have where you actively prepare to leave each other. Ok so I am definitely way more emotional than typical this week, but man, that one did me in! I am so happy my kids still want to do things with us, go to Disney, hang out at home, etc. Hey, DS17 asked that we have Disney movie nights leading up to our trip! I love it! So I have a feeling we will be doing this, together and separate, forever, and will always share a "Disney" bond.

Ok, help me out here. The dessert party is confusing me - can you book it online once it opens up or do you have to call everyday to see if it has opened? I haven't even decided if I want to do it yet, but I know I need to jump on it the minute it opens up if I do. I also know there's a thread here that I am subscribed to, but there's a lot of chatter there. So, when you say you check for the dessert party, where are you checking? And what do you look under?

When it opens, it will be available online. You need to look under "dining" for Tomorrowland Terrace Fireworks Dessert Party. The reason people call and keep checking to see if it's available is that they assign tables based on the order of the ADR. The earlier you reserve, the better your table. If you are later in the order, you can always walk up to the rail to watch. If you don't mind claiming a spot on the rail, it's not necessary to get in immediately.

As for the touring plans and ADRs, I have given up, I think ;). I think I am going to stick with what we have. I do think I have too many ADRs and I should cancel something, but I just can't figure out which one to skip!

Here's where I check online to see if dates have opened up: https://disneyworld.disney.go.com/dining/magic-kingdom/tomorrowland-terrace-fireworks-dessert-party/

There is also some information there about the party. I've done it once and LOVED IT!!! I love that I don't have to fight for a place to see Wishes--the desserts are just a bonus to me!!

Now, for Josh's appointment: it didn't go as well as we wanted, but wasn't horrible either. The antibodies we are trying to get rid of were higher than when he left the hospital last week, but not as high as when he started the treatment. So, now we have to wait some more. Took more labs today. Results should be available in a few days and then we should know what we are going to do from there . . . maybe. This is what we have heard every week and Josh is very tired. We just really want to know what we are doing and when, but all we can do is wait. So, no real news other than he is not currently starting another treatment.

Well, drat :headache: . Is Josh discouraged?

They say "good things come to those who wait". Here's hoping that all your waiting will soon yield some awesome results :goodvibes .

He is a little discouraged. He wants the port out SO BADLY so he can go swimming, etc. He is generally pretty upbeat, even if things don't go his way, but today he was kind of on the verge of tears and said "I'm NEVER gonna get this tube out of me." Well, it may seem like never, but I have every hope that we will have better news after these labs. we keep praying!

Looking at the refurbs it looks like I will have 1 day to hit Muppet Vision 3d before it gets a refurb (6/6) if you are going later in August Jungle Cruise is closing 8/19 for about a month and a half, also PCR Carrousel will be closed for most of August:crazy2:

We'll miss MV3D but we'll be able to hit JC on our first MK day. Where did you see PCR Carousel will be closed? My girls LOVE that.

It is frustrating, but it is just another bump in the transplant road. Hopefully we will get through it soon!! Thanks for the !! We both need it!

Go to the bar on the top of the page and click Theme Parks then Rehabs it will give you a list of scheduled closings, it looks like it will be closed till 8/21

I guess it's official.....booked the room today and one way of our airfare! (hoping prices go down before I book the other). So it will be DH and I at the Yacht Club for 4 nights, 8/15-8/19. I think I have our preliminary schedule planned too. I'm trying to find the right balance of "relaxing" and "doing new stuff". I am an avid planner and like to have our family trips planned down to the hour and when we go with the kids, I never am able to relax and take in what's going on, I'm always on the go and following our touring plans and focusing on them, so this trip is to be more about what I want to do as well as hopefully stopping and smelling the roses. All meals and shows will be ones I've never done before. Comments/suggestions welcome. ::yes::

Thursday: arrive late morning or early afternoon (haven't booked yet), putter around YC. Head over to Epcot for dinner at San Angel Inn and walk around WS for the evening.

Friday: Walk around BW area, lunch @ Big River Grille. Dinner at Hollywood & Vine, then Fantasmic!

Saturday: MK - Keys to the Kingdom Tour. Back to the YC for dinner @ Captain's Grille, hang at YC/BC for the evenings.

Sunday: Epcot for lunch (not sure where yet, could be QS or TS); over to BC for dinner @ Cape May. This our last evening so I'll leave it up in the air and see what we feel like doing after dinner......

Monday: breakfast and then airport. :(

ETA: I keep switching days 2 & 3 around.....not sure which I'd rather do on which day. I'm obsessive, I will probably go back and forth until I figure out the "perfect" plan, lol

I was bored for a minute today and was looking at the calendars on easywdw and I think I'm going to be very happy with the crowd levels when we are there. Our last trip was Thanksgiving week which was rated as a 9 for the entire week. AFAIK there wasn't any closures due to capacity but it was wall to wall people on Thanksgiving day. Our lightest day on that trip was an 8 and we were at Epcot, which spreads the crowds out more.

By comparison the week we'll be there in August the first two park days will be 7's then it will slow down as the week progresses and be a 5 on our last day. We're not doing any of the recommended days because we have our own touring style, but having lower crowds will make it a lot more enjoyable. :goodvibes

Christine... OMG!!! I am so glad that everything turned out OK... That could have had such a horrible outcome if DW hadn't of been with you. (((Hugs)))

Josh's mom... Sending out prayers for all of you...

Sorry I fell way behind here... I will try to catch up tomorrow.

D~

I agree, compared to Thanksgiving, crowds in mid to late August are a breeze! The heat is another story, but it's okay at least we don't spend alot of time in long lines!:goodvibes

Christine - I am SO glad that your DW was with you!! Sending positive thoughts your way for your rehab!

Joshsmom - Sending positive thoughts your way too!! He sounds like such an incredibly strong young man and I hate hearing that he's discouraged - let him know the whole August Dis board is pulling for him! :thumbsup2

QOTD??? In The News...

What's the craziest thing YOU ever brought to Disney??

LAKE BUENA VISTA, Fla. (AP) — A Walt Disney World patron on a ride with her grandson found a loaded gun on her seat.
Officials said Wednesday that the woman found the pistol on the Dinosaur ride at Animal Kingdom. The woman gave the loaded weapon to a park attendant, who then contacted her manager and authorities.
The owner of the gun, Angelo Lista, told authorities that he discovered his firearm was missing several minutes after leaving the ride. He has a concealed weapons permit.
Lista told authorities he didn't know Disney World patrons weren't allowed to bring guns. He said he thought the security checkpoint at the entrance to the central Florida park was only so guards could check bags for bombs or explosives.
Disney World prohibits patrons from bringing weapons of any kind on its property.
